Since I began this module, I feel like my confidences within who I am as a designer and graduate have really developed. I think due to the uncertainty of COVID19, the lack of interaction with lecturers and other students and becoming an online course, it was hard to imagine creating something I was proud of. In reflection I think this module has been highly beneficial to me, Vincent has been a huge influence to me and I feel that his simple approach enabled me to break each section down and really home in on what I want to achieve after I leave University.
My personal branding is something I have enjoyed thoroughly and it has been an invaluable experience and assets to develop which I can adapt easily going forward. The changes I have made from the first semester are informed by the feedback Vincent gave me and from my own further explorations I have recognised the flaws in my original designs to create a more flowing and coherent graphical style. My logo is something I was pleased with last semester, I just needed to adapt how I used it within my CV/portfolio. I think taking it down in size on my CV was an effective move and enabled me to add more content to my CV which was previously lacking in terms of experience and skills sections. The layout of my CV was something I struggled with but looking into grid structure and hierarchy of text allowed me to recognise how to layout the relevant information and what to add in in terms of education etc. I also wanted to add in a section about my personal interests, often these documents can be quite impersonal and I felt that adding this in, despite being a small section, it allows potential employers to gain knowledge on my interests as an individual.
For my portfolio, I needed to refine the content of the projects I included. I updated each section and added in my most recent projects which I have been developing, I also added in some animations developed using Rotato for my mockups, this added a a dynamic feature to my website which I think adds an effective flow. I also adapted the visual style, choosing to have the dark blue colour tone across my career roadmap, CV, portfolio, casebook etc. This rich colour connotes a strong visual style and also allows my work to stand out rather than originally on a muted white background, this adds depth. I think the final look is effective and works well.
The CV, portfolio and social media accounts I have developed within my personal branding will be tools which I can easily adapt going forward and I think this will be highly beneficial going forward.
In terms of going forward in my career I have some exciting opportunities within work experience lined up at the Professional Footballers Association and Pro Sport Wealth Management. I think these opportunities will be invaluable to my development working with clients and confidences in communication. Similarly, whilst they are currently work experience opportunities I think these could be prospective job roles if I fit their needs.
For the exhibition section of this brief, each member of the course had a defined role to develop. I was part of the social media team and I created and posted frequently on the Twitter Page. I also did a lot of the research within the social media aspect. I think it is always difficult developing team projects, especially this one, as it is personal to us all as students we each wanted our voices to be heard however there are always some members who feel the need to strengthen theirs most. In response to this I ensured that the Twitter page was updated regularly with content, however I would liked to have been a bigger part of the Instagram aspect. As an additional role I took on the job of developing the exhibition invites using MailChimp. Tom and I did this together developing the type which would entice potential employers and agencies who we will be sending out the MailChimp Invite to.
In reflection of this module, I think it has been the most beneficial module I have completed at University in its entirety. I feel that Vincent, despite never having met him in person, has had a really big impact on me. He has enabled me to recognise how each individual works differently in group projects and that despite not being the loudest voice you can still have an influence. I am pleased with the work I have developed  over this year long module and feel that it has changed a lot, perhaps reflective of me and how I have changed personally too. Overall I feel that the work I have produced represents the designer I wish to become well to prospective employers and I am excited to begin my new steps as a graduate.

Olivia Griffiths - Fine Art Exhibition Visuals
Each student is to display one project that they have completed at university this should contain:
Brief description of the project
A Final Year university project developing the campaign for a Fine Art Exhibition at the University of Salford. The advertising visuals contain a series of posters, social media animation and instagram content which can be used as a promotional tools for a virtual degree show. The Fine Art course is diverse and personal to each individual on the course, we wanted to make this clear throughout the process of design and ensure each individual was represented - using a kaleidoscope of images across the designs made this possible.
I wanted to include the Fine Art exhibition for the content on my section of the website as I feel this is the strongest point within my designs and something i am proud to have produced. I think it shows both good team work skills and work as an individual as this has been a 6 month project which we have developed and shows a variety of skills and working in response to the global pandemic due to the transition from a physical to a virtual degree show.

ABOUT PAGE
With my portfolio website I wanted to keep it concise and informed. After the feedback from last semester I also wanted to edit the style. I think the dark blue for the background gives a more bold look which is rich - a dark blue accent on the screen is calming and this colour promotes stability and trust which I want potential viewers to feel when engaging with my portfolio.
https://uxdesign.cc/blueberry-ui-how-to-benefit-from-the-dark-background-8f2678216df5
I found this link useful when choosing upon my style and how to implement colour within my designs.
I also added decided to incorporate some icons to inform the viewer of my interests within design and a link to my social media where I will be uploading work more frequently. I think having an Instagram link rather than blog on my website allows for a wider reach and allows me as a designer to also learn from others as Instagram offers a whole array of exploration in terms of building communications and knowledge within recent trends.
I have also set up a Linkedin profile to build connections within industry and exposure to potential employers. In the generation of my project I have used Linkedin Learning tools also which have been beneficial within my projects for Exploration and Final Major Project.
Tumblr media
MY WORK
The dark blue background is something I have incorporated across each page of my website to show consistency within the visual style. For the ‘my work’ page I wanted to update the projects which I display having my most recent projects at the top. i also wanted to change how I display my work as I felt that last semester it could have been presented in a more beneficial way. I used slider deck galleries and have also embedded some videos which I generated mockups using Rotato.
https://www.rotato.app/
I found this a really useful took for having a more sleek and look to my mockups and presenting them in a more professional manner.
For the text I also added more information as I felt that the original text I used was too brief and didn’t define the project outlines to an unassuming viewer who hasn’t come in to contact with my work previously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CV
CV Page - I have added in the CV as a PDF - previously I had just uploaded my CV as a png image and whilst this way okay I felt the quality wasn’t as strong and therefore uploading as a PDF ensures all the colours, styles font within formatting remains the same.
I also added in the GET IN TOUCH section at the bottom which links to the contact me page so that prospective employers can easily make contact.
Tumblr media
CONTACT
Ive embedded a get in touch box where viewers can connect with me - I have also ensured that my INSTAGRAM and LINKEDIN are accessible from each page as well as my email address. I think ensuring this information is accessible across the website will allow the easiest point of contact.
Tumblr media
EDITTING FOR MOBILE
When designing my website I hadn’t regarded the need for it to be responsive for mobile devices. When sharing my website with friends to gain feedback they loaded it onto mobile and the layout and formatting was completely thrown off, I have gone back and edited this within the mobile editor to ensure the layout works as well on mobile as it does on desktop.

Social Media Content - Intro to each student
Social media campaign to promote the exhibition. Weekly we will be posting introductions to each student with a brief description and 3 pieces of work. We have developed a template which can be used by each student in order to keep brand consistency and a formulaic layout for the Instagram/Twitter.
For the 3 projects to display I have chosen Fine Art Exhibition, Dissertation Wellbeing app and Plastic Pollution and PPE all of which are final year projects as I feel these are the ones I am most proud of and pleased with the outcome. I think they show the style of design which I portray through my work and show a variety of skills, poster design, web design and app design.
The 6 artboard’s will then be uploaded as a multi image Instagram post which viewers can swipe through.
I think this is a great way of each student having a voice through the campaign and giving potential viewers a snippet of whats to come with our virtual exhibition.

Industry Engagement
https://www.instagram.com/eclipsemarketingchester/
I think going forward I want to engage in a career which is still educational as I feel that learning on the job will benefit my knowledge and enable me to feel more confident with the different areas I want to progress. Marketing within digital media has always interested me and when looking in to prospective jobs the roles which are involved with this are something I want to explore.
I have applied to several jobs as a marketing assistant and junior graphic designers etc - I think after University has finished this would be the avenue I want to go down as I feel that is where my talents lay and the subject matter I am most interested in.

Invitations
Tom and I had a call to develop the invitations for the exhibition. We have decided to use the platform mail chimp. He has put together the mailing list for potentials viewers of the campaign which we can then send out the invitation to. Using mailchimp will allow us to generate a good invitation template and target the correct potential viewers to the exhibition.
We are going to send this out on the 1st June to potential viewers with a mailing list Tom and I have developed. This will encourage potential agencies and people in industry to engage with the exhibition on the 17th June.

One of the Projects I liked -
https://bgn.agency/projects/distilled/
DISTILLED - Carlsberg UK
I picked out some key information which I thought was really interesting to consider -
“It was time to create a brand that complemented the Crown Cellars’ brand, without being beholden to it – a standalone brand that gave Carlsberg UK a more pronounced specialism in spirits wholesale specifically.”
This really highlights importance of building a brand which can work alongside an existing cooperation whilst also having its own presence.
Typography and Hierarchy -
clean design that made the most of the screen the site was viewed on, and made sensible use of typography to make the hierarchy of information absolutely clear – even to a technophobic
Brand Positioning -
Positioning the new brand as a premium spirits wholesaler (with a name to match) and appropriately leveraging the Carlsberg UK brand for a smooth launch.
CLEAR CLEAN AND REFINED
Distilled was name agreed upon early into the project – a conclusion we both came to independently, one that sat perfectly alongside Crafted, Carlsberg UK’s dedicated craft beer range and accompanying handbook. The identity needed to follow suit with the name, therefore – clean, clear and refined. Communicating the confidence that can only come with the team’s decades of expertise, and the might of Carlsberg UK behind them.
Tumblr media
My Thoughts -
I really like some of the work BGN have produced and the way they approach design, I am an individual who likes to plan and engage with research and I think that is something that BGN engage with to create the best results for clients.

CV
In the feedback from last semester - Vincent commented on the CV style I had chosen being slightly ‘heavy’.
This is something that looking back on I have also recognised and I am going to start developing different ways of how I can adapt this to ensure I have an informative CV which is still stylised and fits the rest of my personal branding.

More detail in project sections
Covering letter something to think about
Keep the stencil font for headings and smaller font for text
When redesigning my CV I wanted to flesh it out and add more detail as it is currently some what sparse, I have things to offer to a potential employer and I need to indicate that.

Instagram
Instagram is a great way of building connections and updating potential employers and clients of work which I am currently working on.
https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/how-to-instagram-promote-design-designers
I found this article really interesting Instagram has always been a platform I have used personally to express myself and my interests and translating my interests as a designer to potential employers as well as gaining inspiration from likeminded individuals. I set up the account which I will also link into my website, this will act as a sort of blog for updating my work easily online and also an inspiration board for future works.

Tumblr media
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
I have been editing my website and the content involved. After the first semester I was happy with the logo style and colour ways however the content and how I display it is something which needed work.
FEEDBACK SEMESTER 1
“You've shown an effective utilisation of information and communication technology. Techniques used are generally appropriate for purpose. With your site you have identified a theme and style - it does require refinement in design and content - but the build is there, this is positive The logo is lovely looking, it needs refinement in it's use, conceptually I see what you are aiming for. Your CV needs strengthening the style is a touch heavy.”
The layout initially was perhaps slightly over complicated within its design and I wanted to refine it and have a more simplistic look without overcomplicating the information.
THINK OF SOCIAL MEDIA INTEGRATION
Since you’re working on the web, you are aware of the influence social media can have on your success, like it or not. Clients spend time on social networks, and they’re even using them to find the designer they need. Therefore, it is essential to tie your portfolio with all social profiles, especially LinkedIn, Google +, Twitter, Facebook, or any similar service.
The best way to integrate them is using icons, or importing links on dot. The same counts in the opposite direction: each of your professional social media profiles should contain a link to your website, placed where users will definitely find it and feel motivated to use it.
A good recommendation to make in this aspect is that you should leave private profiles aside (we all post stuff that are not really professional, don’t we?).

Works Experience
Experience: You will be expected to show evidence of contact with the industry trying to find work experience. Learning how a studio works and building on what you know with this project and in defining further definition of yourself as a digital designer.
PFA - Professional Footballers Association, Manchester
Professional Footballer’s Association Headquarters, Manchester
Gained valuable work experience in numerous departments within the Association including Education, Enterprise and IT
Working on the current and ex-member databases
Updated and posted articles onto the PFA website and on social media including Twitter
Attended and recorded minutes of confidential board meetings
Dealt with member applications for benevolent grants for the charity
https://www.thepfa.com/
https://www.instagram.com/the_pfa/
I completed some work experience at the PFA within the charity department in Manchester in my first years of University. The opportunity has arisen to partake in some further works experience working within the social media department.
The website for the PFA is very informative and includes a variety of different channels including information for players, educational and benevolent funds as well as charities.
Social media and football is something which has always had a both positive and negative impact on players themselves and getting this balance right can be tricky. Footballers digressing their opinions in the public domain is often controversial and can be misinterpreted and therefore it is essential that information is informed and controlled.
In a section for players on their website they discuss the possible impacts posting on social media can have and I think this is a really beneficial way to consider the legalities and constraints which social media can have.
The Positives
Positive use of social media allows you to communicate and interact directly with fans thereby instilling a sense of loyalty and connection between supporters, players and clubs.
This can counteract the complaint which is sometimes made, at least by the media, that players can be too far removed from the supporters. It can also encourage fans to become more actively involved with the club for example by becoming members or attending matches more regularly.
It can act as a useful medium to impart crucial information about the club and its current activities such as, for example, information on upcoming fixtures or other news worthy items.
Blogging can help to boost your own and the club’s public image, for example, by increasing awareness about any charitable activities you undertake.
It can also enhance your own and your club’s commercial activities and revenue generation by allowing you to globally and publicly promote any commercial ventures you may have.
the Negatives
Issues relating to football are often of interest to the public. It is important therefore to recognise that everything you say may be obtained and published by the media and may be misreported or misinterpreted, even if you had intended the content to be uncontroversial.
Recent cases have established that anything posted on a social networking site, regardless of the intended recipient, may be considered public information.
As blogging is therefore considered to be information in the public domain, anything which is written should be treated in exactly the same way as you would approach any comment given to the press, for example by way of an interview or a press conference.
Furthermore, messages which are intended to be private and for a particular person can be forwarded on or published without your consent. Take great care therefore with what you write and to whom and always be confident that if a message were to be published this could in no way leave you open to criticism or punishment.
In addition, posting false or defamatory material might not only leave you open to punishment from your club and/or from The FA and legal action, it may also have the effect of seriously damaging your public image.
Finally, discussing team mates or fellow professionals in a negative light may not only impact on team morale but in extreme circumstances could lead to criticism of you, for instance if a controversial incident then occurs on the pitch or if there is any problems between rival supporters.

TEFL COURSE

I am going to be taking part in a TEFL course teaching english whilst having the opportunity to travel whilst doing it has always been of an interest to me.
Whilst this will be highly beneficial to me personally it will also boost my resume as it is an extra certification that others may not have. It also opens the door to venturing out of the UK and working abroad giving you the training to think and speak cross-culturally, react quickly and think on your feet.
Whilst teaching isn’t necessarily a career I want to engage with in later life, I think this would be really beneficial alongside travel and also the possibility of working remotely online doing freelance work.
AU PAIR WORK
I have also been applying for Au Pair work for the summer of 2021. Due to Covid19 and the loss of time being able to travel I want to engage with different cultures and being an au pair coexisting with another family would be a great way of broadening my connections and confidences after partaking in the TEFL course.
I have been in conversation with several families in Spain close to Madrid, Barcelona and Girona. Spanish culture has always been entwined in my life and I think living in Spain has also interested me. One of the families I have been in contact with, the mother is a marketing consultant and is aware of my interests in this field. I think this raises something which I have always felt to be important, a lot of the time it’s building real human connections which can allow things to transpire into work and this demonstrates this. I often find it difficult to imagine the path I will slot in to within a career, yet I think sometimes it is difficult and over planning this may not always be beneficial hence why I think building natural connections and the possibility of opportunities rising from that, would be more authentic to me and how I work.
Benefits of being an Au Pair
Learn flexibility and leadership skills.
Experience family life in a different culture.
Chance to work abroad.
Help fund future travel.
Make lifelong friends.

CAREER ROADMAP
My Plan Going Forward
Continue working part time at Morrisons whilst being proactive in looking for potential internships and placements, I am also looking to build up some Au Pair work in Spain over the summer months. I want to develop my Spanish Language skills and also I think this could be highly beneficial going forward in my career as travel is something I am interested in and the possibility of working within a bilingual environment would be a fantastic opportunity.
I also want to engage with some online courses which can increase the content of my CV including SEO, marketing tips and social media management which are available on LinkedIn Learning. I also am signed up to complete a TEFL course over the summer months to possibly allow me to engage with Teaching English Abroad, working abroad is something I am highly interested in and as the digital world and jobs are moving towards remote platforms this could be a way of working freelance abroad whilst teaching English in spare time.
I have some opportunities which are already in the pipeline working with the PFA (Professional Footballers Association Manchester) within their marketing and social media team. I also have been working at Little Tap, CW6 updating social media developing content and engaging customers despite the COVID19 pandemic.
Gain some further experience at an in house design agency in areas including social media management, branding, digital marketing where I can develop my knowledge further to ensure I am comfortable in the area of design I want to build my career prior to applying for real world jobs.
Begin applying for firm jobs that cater to my interests and skills I have developed from work experience opportunities. I think an apprenticeship or graduate job would be highly beneficial to continue my learning as this industry is constantly revolutionising.

“66% say that digital skills (e.g. coding, web design, digital typography, UX and UI design) are seen as the most in-demand.”
This shows how valuable the skills I have developed are so far - but they can be improved too.
“This has led me to believe that the future of design is screenless, and that today’s UX and UI designers will eventually transition to roles where they’re designing spaces through the application of augmented, virtual and mixed reality.” - KEY - This semester we are exploring designing spaces and Virtual exhibitions the skills we are developing in this area will be highly valuable
