Been thinking about this hard after that HOFAS Randall and Ember chapter.

For me it's hard to like Nessian, I do not like Cassian's actions with her, he drives her away and then wants to approach roughly, I know he has his reasons for being like that, but I sincerely like to imagine her with some another person. Thoughts?

I totally get what you’re saying. It’s honestly annoying to read sometimes because he comes off like a jackass. I could see her with someone else if Cassian can’t break off from being Rhys’s creature (for lack of a better phrase). She deserves to be someone’s number 2, not their number 2. If Cassian can’t get his shit together and choose Nesta over Rhys/the Inner Circle, they won’t be together.

And I don’t mean that in a “choose your significant other over your friends” kind of way. I mean that in a… Cassian can’t bow to two High Lord’s kind of way. Right now Nesta doesn’t have a place among the Inner Circle, and truthfully, I don’t know that she ever will. Not as a subordinate anyway. She is not a follower, she is a leader. So she can’t flourish and find herself if she’s stuck living under Feyre and Rhys’ thumb. She needs to be powerful in her own right and come back to them with something to offer so that they will respect her and so that she’ll respect herself. Then Cassian can find a middle ground between her and his friends and between being someone’s mate and a servant of his High Lord. Right now he can’t do both and it’s making him come off like a jackass. He’s like a wolf trying to live between two different wolf packs. It’s not sustainable and eventually both pack alphas (Rhys and Nesta) are going to ask him to pick a side, and when he can’t do that or he picks Rhys, he’s going to suffer.

Ultimately, if Nesta and Cassian are endgame, I don’t see Cassian continuing to take orders from Rhys before he takes them from Nesta. ESPECIALLY not if they’re mates. It would put Cassian in a bad spot and I honestly think Rhys loves him too much to do that to him. I low key think Rhys is FULLY aware that he is part of the problem between Nesta and Cassian. Or at least aware the he is, in no way, helping their situation. But he’s too triggered by Nesta to see his role clearly. He will tho. Eventually. When he sees how his behavior is damaging Cassian. At least I hope. And if not, he will if/when Cassian chooses Nesta over him.

Lol Manorian is a joke. AND Dorian is still referring to Sorchia as “the woman he loves” in Kingdom of Ash. SJM clearly tried very hard to put Manorian together but she didn’t succeed because she didn’t even give them an actual relationship storyline beside an unnecessary amount of smut.

Indeed he does, context is important though. I know literary comprehension isn’t everyone’s forte, so I’ll make it simple for you :)

It’s when he’s tricking Maeve in Morath when she asks him why he would risk his other alliances and friendships. “The woman I love is dead, my Kingdomis in ruin, what do I have to lose?”

He’s planning this entire time to trick Maeve, thus why he put on the “courtier’s face”, why he is nonchalant about his relationship with Manon, and why he speaks of his friendship with Aelin as if it’s nothing and is willing to stand against her for his own personal gain. Which we know isn’t true.

In the beginning of KoA he talks of how beautiful Manon is and wonders when it won’t feel like a betrayal to think so, and he learns of that time when he talks to Kaltain and sees Manon when he thinks of his future and being happy.

He can still grieve and be hurting. A part of him will likely always love her, like a part of Aelin will always love Sam.

Starting to find love in another doesn’t negate what he once felt, and it’s pretty clear what he wants in the future when he “wants only one witch to be his queen”and thinks “You, only you.” When Manon asks him what he wants 🤷🏽‍♀️

(Also what unnecessary smut? They have 3 s*x scenes and 2 are almost completely fade to black 😂)

Today's Adventure is that I, after an unintentional 13-hour power nap,

Got woken up at 6AM by a phone call from a friend stranded in Montana because of the heat wave and almost no cell service because of their crap provider.

I somehow summon a week's worth of spoons and in less than 30 minutes and 5 phone calls, get them

A hotel

An appointment with a mechanic from 2 states away

A perscription refilled from 2 states away

and A Pizza

Go me.

But then it's 8AM and there are unscheduled live humans at the door and while EVERGENCY MODE is still on, I have already blown through a ton of spoons, and also probably shouldn't meet whoever it is wearing just a pair of bootyshorts that say "CRYPTID" in Gothic Font on my ass.

So I greet them in those shorts and a T-shirt that I manage to put on both inside out and backwards

when i get back inside, i discover that apparently the Corgi has learned how to open his kennel from the inside because he is now out of the kennel and waiting for me to come in.

he also has cat litter all over his face because while he was waiting for me he also learned how to open the baby gate to the cat's room and help himself to a cat shit breakfast.

He'll be fine

He's a cattle dog, they're legally required to have at least 1 really disgusting snack they love.

The days blurred together for him. He stood there well after she had gone. Long enough that Cassian came to find him, leading him back into the House. Azriel knew Cassian was talking, expressing concern to him, but every time he tried to open his mouth no words came out. Nesta saw him, fear in her eyes, and she rushed away to find Gwyn.

Rhys came at some point, but Azriel ignored him. He didn’t blame Rhys for what had happened between him and Gwyn, but there was a traitorous part of him that couldn’t help but see the look of utter disgust on Rhys’ face when he saw first-hand how much Azriel wanted her and whispered even your brother knows you shouldn’t have her.

Everything was monotonous after that in a way he never could have anticipated. The only time he ever truly felt anything was when he saw Gwyn during training, but she avoided him and he respected her wishes. She must hate him, surely, for rejecting her so callously. Especially when they were so close to sleeping together.

Azriel would happily never touch a woman again if it meant they could just go back to how they were before. The casual kisses, the spooning in bed, the waking up to her teal eyes piercing right through him.

“You have a letter,” Cassian said one day, thwacking the letter onto the table in front of him. “Picked it up in Illyria.”

There was only one person who sent him letters from Illyria, and he eagerly opened the paper to see what was written.

Dear Azriel,

It has been too long, and I miss you dearly. I’ve arranged to come to Velaris to see you for a week next month.
