i kind of hate it when ppl shit on 5e just for the sake of it but also i don't like how dnd and especially dnd 5e has saturated the ttrpg market

i would probably say the top systems for ttrpgs are almost all dnd adjacent (and yes, i count pathfinder. pathfinder is basically dnd 3.75). like when ur buddies are going to sit you down and play a ttrpg, 90% of the time it'll be dnd. like the top systems people start with are some form of dnd, be it becmi, adnd, 3.5, etc. looking at roll20 apparently like 70% of people are playing 5e and then an extra 5% is playing pathfinder or an earlier version of dnd. i do like 5e. it's simple yet customizable but like, it makes sense what you get early on bcuz you basically just became an adventurer. you might've honed your craft for a few years or gotten powers not too recently depending, but like, it makes sense of what you can do. like lvl 1 wizard is guy who has wizard community college degree, lvl 20 wizard is a demigod.

but like, dnd is good but a lot of ppl who play it kind of suck and wotc sucks

but like, im kind of surprised of the saturation bcuz i would say most ttrpg podcasts are dnd. i think the second most common system is PBtA that i've seen and sometimes, having dnd as a system doesn't make sense bcuz they tweak the rules so much.

i think the next most popular system is CoC, then probably PBtA systems, then I think World of Darkness, then a Star Wars system (either d20 or the EoE/AoR/etc), and then everything else. I think GURPS has too much freedom for a lot of people. I'm kind of surprised things like Numenera, Shadowrun, Fate, or anything that uses cards instead of dice (be it playing cards or tarot cards). I think small things like Fiasco and DREAD are cool bcuz they use different systems and are fun. But it's so nutso to me that dnd has saturated the ttrpg market so much omg lmao

Avoiding bg3 honor mode by playing lisa and I just finished lisa the painful and it is by far the meanest game I have ever played

It's funny and the music is great but like, so many things it forces you to do are horrid. Dark souls could never. And the ending is bleak as hell too

I've moved on to Lisa the joyful and it's nicer thus far

I got to lvl 5 in my 2nd honor mode run and it's not going too bad. Fighting the dueregar on the beach was annoying bcuz I tried doing it 3 times and they kept spawning more zombies

The spells that have been saving my ass have been grease, cloud of daggers, and hold person lol

We just have to get to lvl 6 and then we gucci

Nere was horrible lol

I managed to avoid bernard fight this time

I had astarion break his oath fighting Tyr paladins lol

The fights that make me the most nervous are the spider matriarch, the big gith battle in the creche, ketheric thorm, and orin. I might just yeet orin...we will see

i'd like to say, thank u and f**k my job for laying me off right before the holidays bcuz it's been 5 months, i've gone thru 2 temp jobs and one potentially full time job that ended less than a week in lol. i also was a student for like 3 months and i've played 400+ hours of bg3 and some other games lol. i also don't really keep up w the news and my social skills have gone down hella. i might be going back to school in the fall???

i beat the game on tactician, saved the tieflings, freed sazza, and turned karlach into a mind flayer. wyll going to avernus by himself was weird tbh. my gnome and shadowheart are happy living w shadowheart's family and a ton of animals

im debating about doing honour mode next

the hardest battles for me were ketheric, sarevok (sorry to valeria who i scared off i think), orin (hold monster would not work on this bih. i legit ran in three times. first i killed her lackies, then i killed the sanctuaried people, then i killed orin), a shit ton of the ones in act 1 (i legit ran away like 5 times), cazador. barrelmancy saved me from ansur (lol). raphael was surprisingly easy (thanks summons, also i got hold monster on him for one round). also orpheus's powers are so good...damn

im debating on either doing regular evil run, resist durge, or my honour bard next. decisions, decisions

I learned that we have until Monday to do the work exams bcuz stuff kept timing out and I'm legit just gonna milk this week cuz we get paid for 8 hrs each day regardless so I'm just gonna take all the exams, fail the last one twice, drink all the coffee, get my coin, and leave lol

im on my 5th playthru of bg3 and i legit just found out that there were 4 wyrmway tests before ansur lmaoo...i kept missing the insight trial i guess. i think i'd usually just cast knock on the door or something

anyways im on fighting raphael and im considering my life and my choices rn (i beat him on explorer after several tries lol). i might have to respec someone. idk. rip

as of yesterday, i now have more hours in baldur's gate 3 (~388) than i do stardew valley (~387) lol. i haven't played stardew in 3 years, i might start playing again soon (we'll see). or ill move to a different game lol

Oh also on bg3 round 5, I found out you can interact with mailboxes!

Also I got shadowheart's 3rd act romance scene

And then immediately took her and halsin (and gale) to the prostitutes

Wildly enough, halsin and gale approved for halsin joining in w me and shadowheart. They would not let gale stay and be a voyeur tho (o well)

new things that have happened on my 5th playthru of bg3:

auntie ethel gave me her hair to eat and ran away. i honestly might take her deal this playthru lol (her third act one)

i just avoided the zhentharim in act 1 and so lady jannith is just having an art show in her estate and oskar forges art for the zhentharim now (happy ending, no annoying quest line)

taking jaheira to sarevok yields new dialogue. i can't wait to play resist durge with jaheira and minsc

i found a way to the mindflayer colony in moonrise towers before the final battle but it's like, the outskirts of it, which is still cool

i ended up doing battle w the absolute cultists in the mindflayer colony

we killed the rats in the shar area and didn't get astarion anything out of it but we're discovering the ritual shit in act 3

i love being an oathbreaker, it's so much fun.

also i found a head you can talk to (weird)

ok, so idk what the deal w mol is...but like, i think i may or may not have managed to get her out of a pact w raphael??? so previous game where i had her survive to act 3, she shows up w 2 perfectly good eyes, but for this one, she still had an eyepatch on. idk lol. i will probably make my way over the the house of hope (on tactician....ripppp)

idk man it's still super nuts that im on playthru #5 and im still finding new shit

also i found out shadowheart only has 2 romance scenes???? i thought she had 3???? gale, karlach, astarion, and lae'zel all have 3. wyll has 2 cuz he is very obviously sidelined (i love him but he very much feels intertwined with karlach hella and their stories do not feel satisfying w/o each other). minthara has 1 explicitly romantic/sexual scene and then like, a few conversations in act 2 and 3. and then halsin has....his scene😏. but like...shadowheart only having 2 scenes is so weird...like i thought she was the devs second favourite. wtf....(maybe that's lae'zel tbh). but like, 100% some origin companions feel more relevant than others and some feel more "complete" than others. im just kind of surprised that out of the 6 origin characters, only 4 of them have like, romantic camp interactions for all 3 acts. granted act 2 is a pretty stressful act for shadowheart granted the penultimate part of the act is her ultimate decision so it makes sense for her to not have time for romance during that act (but you have her reconciliation scene)

i dont watch drag race anymore but like, the fact that kings have never been on, yet every other competition show has allowed kings and those kings have flourished in some way (some more than others but you do what you can)

i dont think a drag king spin off show would do well unless they brought kings onto drag race. the only person i could see hosting it would be sasha velour or maybe yvie oddly but like, sasha is fairly dethatched from the drag race brand and i think yvie was not happy w her edit on the all winners season so ymmv. but like, i dont think they can get landon cider cuz he's on another show/he is attached to dragula

what i think they will do in the future is what they did w cis women and trans men. they will cast a king on a rupaul hosted show. they will be the most "palatable" version of a king (white lesbian). they will probably make it pretty far (somewhere between top 4 and top 7) and have a story line with one of the queens being sexist/not getting it/whatever

i stg, the categories are vague enough, they're literally colours, types of materials, cities, etc. kings can do those. a lot of roles can be rewritten as masc/male. they can play men on snatch game. there's a shit ton of formal wear and glamourous outfits for men.

in an ideal world, drag race would've probably cast a king somewhere in season 5-8 and they either would've won their season or all stars. then from there on, they'd cast multiple kings on each season. bars and clubs have kings in competitions all the time. every other drag competition show has cast kings (sometimes multiple) and they have placed all over the board. i dont think there can be a king only competition unless they establish kings on the original and in that case, it's still stupid.

im enjoying being an oathbreaker, but im still trying to be as good as possible in this playthru, although i have let astarion tag along in certain portions when i need someone dexterous

i also made karlach into a druid bcuz i want to do "owlbear from the top rope"

i haven't had a tpk yet but like, ive come close (usually involves me running away while 3/4 of my party members die)

(me thinking i could do honour mode...tbh i think my honour mode will be sword bard (me), life cleric, some insane dex class, and then probably another caster of some kind. i might make lae'zel a TB monk)
