I hope that you never feel like you have to apologize for being you.
However, unfortunately, I know this is easier said than done.
The thing is, your chronic illness; your disability, that is you. How can anyone make you feel as though your unworthy of living, or you have to feel bad for your body and what it does?
It’s like guilt tripping someone for how they breathe. All people do it. You have to! To survive even! Except apparently you breathe a little more “funny” than everyone else, and so you should feel ashamed.
Honestly, that’s an outrage! Easier said than done, I know, but you should never be ashamed of who you are, just because you’ve got something different about you that people don’t understand, or they don’t want to.
You deserve to live just like everyone else; to vocalize your pains; to be seen. There are people willing to listen. They’re just buried deep these days...
However, know that you are you, and not a soul can take that away from you. You can be proud of yourself too, and feel what you need. You are worthy of love too, and you are not a shame to this planet. If anything, the people that make you feel ashamed are. Let them reflect, while you live on!

It's important to make sure that we're talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds.

Weary
This may be long, however, as a BLACK woman in American I must speak up because as a BLACK woman in American with TWO BLACK brothers I’m GOING to speak up! The murder of Ahmaud Arbery is a HATE CRIME! A black man can not jog in his OWN neighborhood without worrying whether or not he’ll die today. No, they’re not wearing white robes and hoods anymore, they’re sitting on judicial benches, they’re pulling up behind you with blue lights and uniforms, they’re making educational decisions about you based on your race. They’re running for government offices. They’re regarded as pillars of the community. Black people are the #1 target in this country not because we’re criminals, but because of our melanin. A crime is a crime but that doesn’t make the murder of that criminal justifiable if no one life is in danger. TWO WHITE MEN chased down a BLACK man, HUNTED him like prey in broad daylight and got away with it until the video started circulating the web and the outrage started pouring in. If that isn’t white privilege I don’t know what is. Black people were already tired, we were already weary now we’re just numb. White people have been hunting and killing us for pleasure for CENTURIES! CENTURIES with absolutely ZERO remorse. White people are somehow place on this pedestal like they’re the mf’in moral authority in this world when in reality their hands hold the most blood shed. I’m tired of seeing my people being murdered in cold blood because their right to be “afraid” trumps my right to “LIVE”. I’m tired of the murderers getting away with nothing but a slap on the wrist or paid leave. I’m tired of it being called a “riot” when 5 black people use their first admendment right to assemble BUT 100 WHITE people with ak-47′s can assemble and it’s still a protest. I’m Tired! I’m Tired! I AM TIRED! I’m tired of placing my people’s name in a hashtag. I’m tired of fighting everyday to prove that my BLACK LIFE MATTERS! I’m tired of instilling in the curriculum the importance of “placing your hands on the stirring wheel, and moving slowly when you reach for your license and resgistion” when a white boy with a bowl cut can SHOOT AND KILL 9 people that were worshipping the Lord and be apprehended alive and without incidence. White men have MURDERED hundreds of CHILDREN in this country but we, as black people, do not have the right to “Stand your ground”. A mf’in TRAINED police has the right to fear for their life but ME, as an UNTRAINED CIVILIAN do not possess the right to fear mine when a gun is in my face and they’re known for getting away without conseqences. I’m tried because the at end of the day I know that they’re some good white people out there, however, for whatever rhyme or reason they’re scared to use that white privilege, those inalienable rights that only they are born with to speak up on injustices. White people were saying “Liberty and justice for all” while black people were still being brought and sold, chained, and enslaved. My people have never been free, we had integration without inclusion. We were given this and that to fabricate that we were becoming a country of morals, meanwhile we were NEVER given RESPECT, FAIRNESS, EQUALITY, and EQUITY! We were NEVER given our consitutional rights to “LIFE, LIBERTY, and THE PURSUIT of HAPPINESS.
I’m going to leave you with this quote from Desmond Tutu,
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”
Peace ✌🏾
