i like the idea that bruce has dimples. he has one on either cheek and they're only really visible when hes smiling or laughing real big.
when someone gets him to laugh not only are they starstruck because wow they made batman laugh but also this grumpy asshole has the brightest and most charming smile ever.
bruce: 😁

this has never happened to me ever .. what the hell are you talking about
the experience of writing something, posting it, and then having people comment about their favorite parts through their eyes is just. such an incredible experience. it’s like getting to re-read your own writing again for the first time and it always gives me such a giddy feeling when people pick up on things i don’t realize i’m putting out.

Character Post #3: Ray Palmer (part 2)
Part 1
Friendship: Ray & Nate
Why I love Ray & Nate as best friends:
I rarely, if never, have seen such a healthy friendship between two men that also defied toxic masculinity on television.
Toxic masculinity is defined as “a cultural concept of manliness that glorifies dominance, virility, stoicism, and strength, and that is socially maladaptive or harmful to mental health.”
There is a lot of toxic masculinity concerning the male friendships in the Arrowverse 🙄, but never between Nate and Ray. I’ll break down the definition of toxic masculinity and describe how the Ray/Nate friendship defies each aspect of it (I’m skipping strength because it’s too generic).
Dominance: overlooking and commanding from a superior position
When they are first introduced to each other, they develop a rivalry but it’s quickly established as being a friendly, sibling type of rivalry. Yes, there is competition between them but nothing indicating dominance over the other. They treat each other as equals and get along because they’re both high level intellects and contribute equally to the team. And they respect that about one another.
In this gif, (S4) Nate, while being influenced by the demon Neron, punches Ray in the face. Instead of acting dominant or making the situation worse, he immediately apologizes and comforts Ray as shown. Nate loves and respects Ray and vice versa. 🥺
Virility: (in a man) the quality of having strength, energy, and a strong sex drive; manliness.
Nate and Ray are both given multiple romantic relationships on the Legends of Tomorrow, however none of their relationships are depicted in a manner that glorifies them being womanizers or encouraging a competition between them. Both of them fall in love deeply with their respected partners and all of their respected partners are also vital characters in the show. My point being that the women are not depicted as less than Nate or Ray, nor are they JUST depicted as their love interests. Therefore, neither Ray or Nate display a sex drive in a maladaptive or harmful manner.
Stoicism: the endurance of pain or hardship without the display of feelings and without complaint.
Ray and Nate are consistently shown as expressing their emotions with each other, and are there for each other during hardships. They’re even comfortable showing physical touch on a regular basis; the fear of coming off as too feminine or gay never being an issue in the dialogue or acting techniques. Ray kisses Nate on the cheek, they’ve held hands without a fuss, and are often seen hugging one another. Sometimes for no reason other than just wanting a hug. ☺️
In the end, when Ray is leaving the team, he and Nate have a beautifully written and acted scene where the two of them are openly displaying emotions by crying and hugging each other. And telling the other they love each other. 🥺
Their display of emotions and love for one another is never seen as a weakness, in fact it’s often shown as a strength, a brotherly bond. 🥺
By displaying these emotions, they’re not bottling anything up, they’re not acting in a socially maladaptive or harmful manner. I think they’re a really great example of what a friendship should look like between two men.
I love that Legends of Tomorrow made sure to take the time to write this out carefully and to display this brotherly bond on our televisions for men and boys to see.

i love that the writers used the show’s main premise of literal time travel to allow a lot of the legends to confront their past demons in a good, healthy way, by literally meeting their child selves. a version of them that is innocent. that hasn’t experienced pain yet, or the harsh cruelty of the world. and a lot of good comes from seeing their past selves. for mick and snart, it motivates them to have closure, and do better than they did before. it’s why snart sacrificed himself for the team. it’s why mick chose the life of saving people and travelling through time, with his family, rather than choosing the life that the spear of destiny gave him. it’s why both snart and mick forgave themselves for all the things they’ve done.
it’s why zari learned from young ray that it was okay to have hope, and see the world in something other than a negative way. it’s why adult ray learned that he was right to believe that everything would be okay in the end. and it’s why the legends learned that they didn’t have to let what happened to them stop them from being happy. that, while being self reliant is good, it’s okay to have trust and faith in others. in their team. in their family. and that it’s okay to share that past with others too, and learn to accept their teammates’ love.
