Turns out every planet with life has a version of mammals, and they supposed to be weak, small and dumb creatures. The fact that they are not only the dominant animal clade on Earth, but also the planet’s intelligent species baffles aliens.

Dear Beloveds (Writers),
Hello again. ~
I have a few things I would like to say to you... please take these messages to heart instead of arguing that they don't pertain to you because yes, yes they do. They pertain to every one of you.
1 - I don't care how impatient your readers get as you're taking your breaks, you deserve to have them. Not just because you're putting out writing, but because you exist. Even when you're not in the midst of writing, which can be a really draining activity of its own right, but because you exist, which can also be exhausting. Please take care of your mind. Your readers can wait.
2 - Quality over quantity. It's better to have fewer readers/followers but that respect you and your time and are patient and kind to you than to have thousands of them that have no respect for you. Choose quality over quantity every time. It's better for you and your mental health.
3 - Your mental health should always come first. Feel exhausted? Get rest. Feel burnt out? Take a break. A reader constantly bringing you down? Block them. It's okay. You'll have other readers. Your mental health comes first.
4 - FANFICTION IS REAL WRITING. They're putting in the time. They're putting in the research, the effort, the blood sweat and tears. They're doing all the same work original fic writers are. Sometimes even more, so respect them as writers. Support them. Love them and appreciate them. Stop being elitist about writing. We all struggle, stop making it worse for them.
5 - Thank you. You are wonderful and deserve so much love and support for what you do. Remember that you are appreciated, even if it doesn't feel like it. You are loved and appreciated.

Writeblr Positivity Tag
@hallwriteblr did a post of this tag, and I knew I had to try it out! Doing what they did and putting the blank format underneath the cut!
Gently tagging: @squarebracket-trick, @leisoree, @serenanymph, @immortaladrien, @thesoftestofpetals, and anyone else who wants to join!!!
1. What motivates you to write?
The plot threads I have later down the line in my wips and my characters. Both of these points are really the same. I am excited about the things I have planned because they highlight the characters, and I am excited because my characters for the things I have planned.
2. A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)
I have to pick just one????? Oh lord.
Undead things aren't supposed to grieve other undead things, and yet so many vampires were now without fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters.
3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?
@mouseinthegreenhouse's Maximilian. They have to put up with my simping sm HIOEWHOIW. It's hard to describe Max in a way that does not boil down his character. He just has this presence that you feel in every page, this captivation. A slow, measured way of speaking where he knows no one would dare interrupt him. Love him to bits.
4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?
I haven't really gotten to the editing phase with any of my OG works, so I guess I have to say drafting?
5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)
Character. I try my best to write characters that are analysis worthy. That have a deeper meaning in their existence and that have a lot to say about the world. Of course not all of my characters are as well thought out as others, but when I do put my all into it there is so many intricacies that go into them.
6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?
THE PEOPLE. I LOVE YOU GUYSS. I love seeing your works and hearing your feedback and the tags and the asks. And the mutuals. The mutuals. Getting to know other writers and getting to talk about writing more deeply with them is so much fun.
7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)
I use WPS Offcie for my more serious projects. It's like Word, but free, and also not owned by Microsoft. This helps me not write in the middle of the night on Daycycle and work on it healthily. It is the bane and boon of my existence.
8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)
Why must you continually make me choose a favorite child? I like how I tackled the elements on daycycle, I suppose. The fact that every element has it's own ideology behind it gives me a lot of freedom with what I can do with it. It also helps me say a bunch of stuff with it! And I enjoy making none of the elements good or evil but keeply neutral with their own psychological behavioral patterns.
9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?
People are going to tell you to just keep going and you're going to think that it's impossible. I'm sorry to tell you that it's hard, but it's possible. I believe in you and your ability to write through this.
Unless you are going through writing burnout TAKE A BREAK. TAKE A BREAK. TAKE A BREAK. "But what if--" NO. BREAK. NOW.
10. Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters
@squarebracket-trick for her amazing writing. I really feel like I could have a discussion about any form of writing with her and she'd have something to say. @sugar-phoenix, @lyra-brie, and @leisoree for listening to my rambles and sharing their gorgeous juicy ideas to me. @wipsbymor for RJ. What I have to say more? Sigh, also for her continued support and kindness. @hallwriteblr, yes tagging you again, for being such a kind person in this community and for writing that sage one shot. @serenanymph for being one of my first mutuals and a talented writer to boot. And to everyone who is my mutual! I love you all!!

Character Movements (Eyes) Part 3
1. Gazing: The character's eyes move slowly across a scene or object, taking in the details. This movement can indicate curiosity, interest, or observation.
2. Darting: The character's eyes quickly shift from one point to another, often indicating nervousness, suspicion, or alertness.
3. Winking: One eye briefly closes while the other remains open, often used to convey playfulness, flirtation, or a shared secret.
4. Rolling eyes: The character's eyes move upward or to the side, indicating annoyance, disbelief, or sarcasm.
5. Narrowing eyes: The character's eyes become slits or squinted, suggesting suspicion, scrutiny, or concentration.
6. Widening eyes: The character's eyes open wider than usual, indicating surprise, shock, or fear.
7. Glancing: The character's eyes quickly move in a specific direction, often used to check for danger or to communicate a message without words.
8. Staring: The character's eyes fixate on a specific point or person for an extended period, often indicating intensity, fascination, or intimidation.
9. Flickering eyes: The character's eyes flicker rapidly between different objects or individuals, suggesting indecisiveness, confusion, or distraction.
10. Blinking: The character's eyes momentarily close and open, mimicking a natural blinking pattern. This movement helps to convey realism and prevent the eyes from appearing static.

⚡️Lightning - Have you ever spontaneously added something to your story that you wouldn't have added normally? If so, what made you do it?
Thanks for the ask, @writingmargo! I saw this concept on my dash and it was just TOO COOL not to add to my 50 followers event. I'm glad people sent me an ask from it!
My WIP Not Pretty Enough, so Now Unemployed, was actually a school project (I see a trend). The title was the prompt for a short story, and I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT TO DO.
Then, I randomly got up at 1:30 am and typed this in my google docs.
Tumblr media
If you were to read the story now, this brain dump will make so much more sense.
But hey! It worked! I got an A on this one too. Let me know if I should repost the WIP. I know it's on here somewhere, but it's probably been buried now.

Writing Intro! <3
Hi! I'm new to writeblr--while I'm here I'll probably post things I write for fun or events, if there are any.
I'm also trying to gain experience with writing content as well as copy so that I can become a freelance writer. I'm a student, so I want to help out with college tuition (and maybe start investing). I hope to surround myself with writers so that I can discover the topics I like, as I took a break from writing for a while. Some things that I have written in the past include Shakespearean sonnets, alternate endings, and short stories. I'm also well-versed in academic-style writing, such as essays like literary analyses, synthesis essays, rhetoric analyses, arguments, research papers, and responses to prompts.
I look forward to meeting new people and learning along the way!!!
EDIT: I recently released chapter one my WIP, so you can check it out here if you want!

The Isles of Blirrosia: Chapter One
Taglist: @anonymousfoz, @kaiarchives, and @awleeofficial Let me know if you want to be added!
Note: Feedback is very much desired! This is my first major work since I took a break; even if it's a little note about a part you liked or didn't like, it'll make me very happy. At least people are reading it, haha. Also, I am still looking for a beta reader. If you're interested, please message me. Finally, I might edit the earlier chapters and repost them, but I will be clear that it's the edited version. Thank you and enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a cloudy, crisp Monday morning in January, yet it was fair and still. Pleasant. It was warmer from the top of the city rooftops, but Saffron didn’t mind. She sat on the edge of the roof of a random office building, her feet swinging in excitement over the bustling rush hour traffic. Normally, she would be in her Hero Ethics class, but she was called in to cover a hero today. Something she’d done multiple times in the past. But this time was different.
Recently, there has been a supervillain causing trouble in the city. From Saffron’s perspective, he was pretty inadequate, which was partly the reason why the Hero Association decided it was safe enough for a student to help out. Her job was to patrol the city and keep an eye out for suspicious activity. They had given her a proper file and a walkie-talkie—she’s never gotten them before! Normally, she would team up with a hero and stop a petty crime. But those were kinda on the police department's level.
“We got a bank robbery on 86th and Second. Witness descriptions match the Stardust Absorber. Over.”
“Finally.” Her first active bank robbery. Today was going to be a good day.
Saffron lifted her feet on the rooftop edge, then launched herself off. She let herself freefall for a moment, relishing in the addicting feeling of being weightless. Completely vulnerable. But before her ears could pop from the rapid descent, she raised her arms as straight as possible and summoned black aura spheres in both of her open palms. Then, she willed the aura to wrap around her body, lift her into the sky, and take off in the direction of the robbery. She reached for her walkie-talkie to respond to the police department.
“Hero student: Aura. On my way. Over.”
Contrary to the general public’s belief, there is no traction in the air. She wasn’t sure how it was for other aptitudes that allow flight, but in her case, she had to use her aura to push off molecules in the air. Since the process is invisible to the eye, it looks like she’s flying effortlessly when it takes a lot of concentration.
Since Saffron had just sacrificed a decent amount of her concentration on responding to the walkie-talkie, she suffered the consequences by nearly crashing into a billboard.
“Ugh,” Saffron groaned. “The press is going to have a field day with this.” She took a few moments to redirect herself, then sped off faster to make up for lost time.
As she neared the bank, Saffron caught a glimpse of a white blur also heading towards the location. The murky feeling of dread crept up her sides as her feet touched the pavement outside the bank. The aura diminished in a way that was only possible due to hours of training.
“Aura! Over here!” an officer called out.
“I’m here!” Saffron replied. “What’s the situation?”
“We’ve confirmed that it is the Stardust Absorber. No hostages, but after what happened last time, we decided to secure the perimeter and wait for a hero to arrive.” This was normal; she usually helped with the perimeter. But she was cut short before she could ask about where she was wanted.
“Sensation is on scene. Aura, assist him.” Another officer and a hero clad in white join the conversation. Just her luck. Only Sensation could taint the experience of being able to participate in taking down a bank robber. Why couldn’t have it been Steela or Water Jelly instead?
The hero-student duo made their way to the bank.
“Remember. No direct attacks,” Sensation said.
“I remember. I was told.”
Just making sure, Saffy.”
Saffy?
“We’re working right now, Sensation. Right now, it’s Aura. Off-field, it’s Saffron to you. Only people close to me can call me Saffy.”
“Aren’t we close, Saffy?”
They are approaching the doors at this point. “It’s Aura. And no.”
“But we can be,” he teased.
“No! We aren’t close, and we certainly aren’t friends. I’ve told you so many ti-”
“Now is the time to focus, Aura. We’re in the middle of a bank robbery,” he interrupted.
Saffron huffed but gritted her teeth in determination. At least he wasn’t talking anymore. In the corner of her eye, she saw Sensation enhance his muscles. So he was going physical. She summoned a black aura around herself and let it seep into her muscles. Almost instantly, she felt the increase in energy.
They entered the bank. The pair turned their backs toward each other and faced outward. Then, they made their way to the center of the bank.
“Let’s split up to cover more ground,” Sensation ordered.
Saffron made a sound of agreement before making her way to the upper level of the bank. It circled the building like an indoor balcony. She noticed the dangling crystal decoration hanging from the ceiling.
She opened the first door on the left and emptied her head. Everyone has an aura tied to their physical body in the Aurasphere, and unless they have an aptitude to conceal it, Saffron could always use it to detect someone. It took a significant amount of concentration to focus on the Aurasphere. But this is what she trained for.
“Clear!” she called out.
She checked the next room. “Clear!”
After analyzing heroes in class, she deduced that Sensation preferred a stealthier approach. But students are required to regularly call out the status of their search in case something happens.
Three more rooms were checked. Three more rooms were cleared.
Saffron opened a door near the center of the balcony. Just as she entered the Aurasphere, she detected an aura quickly heading in her direction.
She hastily exited the Aurasphere and grounded herself. A green man in a Halloween goblin costume was launched into the air, about to punch her. What a joke.
She grabbed his forearm and swung him to the ground out in the hallway.
“Found him!” she called out.
The Stardust Absorber quickly got up and rushed at her.
Saffron swung one fist at him, then the other. He dodged both.
Sensation jumped up from the ground floor to the upper level. He was running to join the fight. But he was too far away.
She kicked her left leg toward the Absorber’s head. He dodged. But she was already driving her right leg towards his neck. The Absorber recoiled to her right. She hit him with a right hook twice.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sensation standing to the side. Supervising. They both knew she had this clown under control.
The Absorber finally hit her back with his arm, causing her to fall. But before she could faceplant, she caught herself with her hands and attacked him with a flurry of kicks to the head. He was able to dodge a couple with his wrists, but he ultimately was struck by most of them.
She ended the blitz attack by propelling herself off the ground with her hands and pounding his face with a two-foot kick. She flipped backward and gracefully landed on her feet in a fighting stance. A moment later, he plummeted to the floor with a thud.
“Don’t you think that last part was a bit showy?”
“You’re one to talk.”
Just when she thought he was down for good, the Stardust Absorber pushed himself off the ground, stood up, and hurled himself at her with a screech.
When he got close, Saffron propelled her right leg towards the side of his face, then she left, and then her right again. She continued the cycle until she dipped her upper body down to gain momentum and swung her left leg towards his torso.
Upon impact, he was sent flying and ended up getting tangled in the hanging crystal decoration.
“What an amateur. Didn’t even get my heart pumping. I’m disappointed.”
After she said this, the Absorber increased his efforts to escape, resulting in him getting tangled further.
“Maybe we should try to get him to be used as practice at your university.”
“Who’s we? And that’s an insult.”
“Of course, it is, Miss Top-Of-Her-Class.” He chuckled and called for the police to make the arrest. “Let’s go get some coffee, Saffy. I can file the ROHA later. And I’ll cover you,” he baited.
“No. Stop asking me out, Matteo. And stop sending me flowers.”
“But you keep them every time.”
“That’s only because I—ugh, never mind. I don’t have time for this. I’m going to be late for class.” She flew past the officers and out the door. Trying to refocus, she landed on the roof, released the aura, and did a breathing exercise. “In for four, hold for seven, and out for eight. Don’t let him get to you, Saffron.”
Once calm, Saffron engulfed herself in the familiar black aura and soared toward school.
______________________________________________________________
“Gotcha now, Absorber. Gonna put cha’ away for a long time.” Two cops held the villain by his arms as they shoved him over the police car.
“Yeah, tell ‘em, Marv! I’d be embarrassed if I were him. Sensation and Aura were barely in there for ten minutes! Hah!”
“Got anythin’ to say for yourself, Absorber?”
“That’s not my name,” the green foe growled.
“Huh?”
“I said,” he repeated, “That’s not. My. Name.”
“Alright, then. What do you wanna call yourself?”
“Draven!”
“Gesundheit.”
“I didn’t sneeze, you incompetent oaf! That’s my name. Draven!”
The two cops looked at each other, then at Draven, and then back at each other before bursting with laughter.
“Ahahaha! Harry! Ya hear that?” Marv wheezed. “He calls himself Draven!”
“What a moron!”
“Stop laughing! You should be cowering at the mention of my name!” At this, the two cops howled with laughter even more.
“Alright, alright,” Harry chuckled. “We read you your Miranda rights already, so just get in the car,” he replied, pushing Draven into the car.
“Draven, hahaha. Can you imagine?”
“Clown costume and everything. Hah!”
**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ The Isles of Blirrosia ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
{ a WIP by @quinnharperwrites }
(Just to let you guys know, I'm going to reblog this a couple times so more people can see it on their dash. I noticed that different chunks of my followers are active at different times. I might reblog it again in case I forget or need to add something.)
GENRE:
Fantasy; Superhero fiction
SETTING:
A fictional world in a fictional universe very similar to our own. Life was completely normal until a comet collided with a star called Blirrosia, forever altering Uzaria (now called the Isles of Blirrosia). The present story mainly takes place in the capital of Blirrosia--Rosia City.
SUMMARY:
Where is the line drawn between good and evil? Or, more importantly, who drew it? These are questions that plague Saffron Solis, a hero student at the top of her class, throughout the story. Since her parents are famous, retired heroes, she has an important legacy to uphold. It doesn't help that she and her family come from a long line of high-leveled aptitudes. Which she is very grateful for, don't get her wrong. Sometimes, the consequences of being the next generation's quintessential superhero can be too much to handle. Some of these include annoying date requests, or flowers that keep appearing inside her dorm? Weird. It's safe to say that Saffron's life is a house of cards built in the eye of a tornado. As if things couldn't get worse, the amount of supervillains in the city of have increased, and no one can explain why. Is there a bigger threat? And if so, will Saffron be able to fulfil her purpose before the pressure consumes her whole?
THEMES:
Good vs. Evil, Ambiguous Characters, Love, Death, and more to be revealed!
CHARACTERS (that I'm willing to reveal hehe):
SAFFRON SOLIS/AURA: She's our wonderful protagonist. Her aptitude is Aura Manipulation, and she's been training it for as long as she can remember. But it seems like there may be more to her aptitude than meets the eye.
LAI YARROW/CRIMSON DOVE: Saffron's best friend, but she's determined to be seen as more. Her aptitude is Pyrokinetics-- it's not basic! She'll be at the top one day side by side with her friends due to her own hard work, just you wait!
ZAIN BOLTON/(HERO NAME UNDECIDED): The third part to an unbreakable trio! Sure he joined a bit late, but who cares? His aptitude's Smoke Manipulation, and he doesn't really care about being a hero. Being close to his friends is enough for him, and he's always striving to be the best friend that he can be!
I asked @thewriteadviceforwriters (thanks again!!!) to design one of my characters for me, and it turned out wayyyyyy better than expected. There's a google form on the blog, so definitely check it out! The character designed for me is definitely my favorite, but he won't be revealed for a little bit.
After that one, I tried to AI generate the other characters. I'm still tinkering with it though, because some of them didn't come out as expected.
Taglist: No one at the moment, but let me know if you want to be added!
art + writeblr intro
hello everyone! i don't know what im doing and everything on this site is confusing 👍
i'm alec (he/him). i haven't been on social media for a bit and i'm new to tumblr. decided to give this place a try due to unending peer pressure and an annoying friend.
i'm a hobbyist artist and writer, and i hope to eventually produce bigger stuff in the future, like novels and comics!
writing-wise, i adore:
the fantastical (high fantasy my beloved) and mundane (slice of life my beloved)
character development!
struggles with self-perception or perceptions of others, viewing the world through a clouded lens, etc. etc. characters with fucked up minds, generally.
moral grayness but the morally gray greater good is a particular fave :]
men. (<- gay.)
platonic and familial relationships!!!
art-wise, i:
doodle literally whatever (designs, stuff driving me insane i cant quite get out of my head, etc)
am steadily improving my comic abilities!
draw every character who tickles my brain <3
hate coloring
i mainly plan on talking about and posting art of my ocs here (and fandom stuff on my sideblogs, which i will link here later on!). i will reblog anything that tickles my brain as well :]. i'm always looking for mutuals and i'm open to all forms of interaction (the annoying friend said i should put that i'm tag and ask friendly here. not sure what that means but i'm that, i guess <3) can't wait to gush about our worlds and characters!!!! maybe we can make some together :]
Hey, writers.
You are not morally superior to tradpub authors because you go indie. You are not morally superior to indie writers because you go self-pub. You are not morally superior to self-pub writers because you go trad. There is no means of publishing that completely removes you from a system designed to devour its own young, just different means of being eaten.
I am a tradpub author. This means I get paid rarely, by corporations that will take any excuse they can find not to pay me at all. It also means my books are not dependent on my having the personal executive function to design them, format them, commission cover art, and post them for sale. There is so much effort in self-pub. I have sold books to indie presses. I experienced most of the same issues I did in tradpub, just magnified, and with big buckets of guilt poured over any complaints, because suddenly I wasn't asking a big corporation for my money, I was asking Susan, who had bills and a sick cat and needed a new roof.
Tradpub is the way to go if you don't have the skills/energy/function to do all the work yourself. Indie is the way if you're willing to give up some control in order to talk to Susan instead of AuthorBot #87. Self-pub is the way to go if you want to know everything is done the way you want it.
Please stop trying to make the way someone publishes into a moral judgement. We're all just trying to survive here.
Tumblr media
hi i am cal, they & them, and this is my second attempt at an introduction because my first one was not doing it for me. i'm currently attempting to get back into writing, and maybe make some friends along the way. please send me wips, asks, tag games, messages, prompts, anything. interaction is difficult so some direction would be helpful.
my aim is to finish a few short stories before i move onto anything bigger, which is what i will mostly be talking about on here for now. there is the possibility of the occasional unrelated drabble and fanfiction. books rants will also be here, as they are tangentially related, and i'm open to discussing books and giving or receiving recs.
my tastes are quite flexible so i am almost guaranteed to enjoy any wip sent, although i adore horror, fantasy, found family and stories surrounding moral ambiguity. anything along those lines is enough to get me invested, and i typically write about them often. queer characters are also a large focus in my works, especially those who are on the aro/ace spectrums and use neutral pronouns, which is really just me crying for representation and diversity in that rep. supernatural and inhuman characters are often my protagonists, mostly because i think they look cool and create a lot of interesting dynamics.
Tumblr media
( A SHRIKE TO A SHARP AND GLORIOUS THORN ) — the story of a hunted witch and a forgotten god, and the death that binds them. to separate would be their end, but they may find it in each other regardless. an unhealthy and obsessive romance, horror themes, fantasy setting.
Tumblr media
( CAL WRITES SOMETHING ) — any form of writing.
( WIP ) — a master page for a wip. they will also have their own specific tags for connected posts.
( OC ) — a character profile. they may also have their own tag if i post about them often.
( FANFICTION ) — fanfiction, what it says on the tin.
( OTHER WRITERS ) — reblogged introductions and wips.
