Don't look at the spiral

Whatever you do, don't look at the spiral.

If you look at it, you won't be able to look away. It'll suck your mind completely into it, and you don't want that, do you? It'll start gradually at first, sure. You'll think to yourself it's not so bad. You'll think things like "I could look away anytime I wanted to...", but by that point, you won't want to. You'll be trapped, unable to turn your gaze anywhere else.

So don't look at the spiral.

If you do, you won't be able to resist it. You'll feel your thoughts, your cares, your worries all start to melt away. It'll become harder and harder to think, until you won't be able to think at all. You won't want to think. You'll just want to stare mindlessly into the spiral. And you don't want that to happen, do you?

So maybe you should try not to look at the spiral.

Because as your mind starts to become fuzzy, do you know what comes next? The warm inviting allure of sleep. You'll try to keep your eyelids from drooping of course, but by this point, you just won't have the mental energy to resist anymore. You won't be able to do anything but stare as your eyelids grow heavier, because you're dropping deeper and deeper. Just smiling blissfully without a thought in the world, ready to obey and sleep now.

You do want to obey, don't you?

So go ahead and look at the spiral.
