Laugh & breathe
The Welcome collection
________________________________________________________________
I had a good day and I am gonna have a better night, I am gonna go home, go for a walk and take a flight, To a land that should belongs to no one and anyone, I am gonna walk in the middle of the road at Holders Hill crescent. So will you join me in this expedition? Let's laugh and take a deep breath. No let's run around in circles, panting, dying for a breath.
Let's dig deep and deeper into that depth, Cuz You know how we have a hole where dump our emotional shit, You know how we hide ourselves from ourselves a little bit. So come let's live a little, Gee I need to write down this thought, You know just in case I forgot, It's moment like these that make me wanna live. Because, It's moments like these that make me wanna live. And, its moments like these that... Make me wanna, live.
________________________________________________________________
This poem is a result of writing exercises undertaken in the fRiction elective since we were encouraged to abstract from our everyday lives. As I reached home, I felt that I really needed this walk, and perhaps I should make a ritual of it. A ritual to breathe, laugh and walk without a destination. This seemingly trivial walk provided me such content and happiness. With this piece, I would like to encourage the player of this experience to find that moment, be it alone or with a friend to take some time out to reflect every day and just slow down for once. In the 21st century, overworking is confused with hardworking and all we need at times is 20 minutes of walking every night.
Initially I was planning to set it in VR, I realised that walking and/or drifting from point A to B (at the speed that this project requires) in VR would make players dizzy. In my previous VR experience the movement of player from A to B was extremely slow, which worked fine with VR. Since this piece is about relaxation, I do not intend on making the player feel nauseous. Since this poem is pro purposeless walking, I realised (after speaking with a classmate) that I should have it like a walking simulator. Where in you can wander anywhere in the scene with no destination in mind. You can marvel at the skyscrapers or climb the beanstalk parked right next to it. I might try a version in VR as well and test a slow camera movement for the player.

One of the workshops where we write about the other person, what we know what we see and what we wonder…I stood in front of the mirror and I started talking to myself (I do this when I am wasted I find my self extremely funny, *ahem* vanity).  I later read my diaries from the past two years and I realised I used to write to myself a lot and for some reason, that practice faded away ¿
I then abstracted some common thoughts and such I used to write. I wrote a poem based on these notes that is whimsical and autobiographical.
I know I have to wake up every single day.
I know I have to meet new faces, hear new voices and,
I know I have to walk bare feet on that flaming sand.
I am well aware and, I know.
I do not know if I can keep up with my vices enough,
I do  not know if I can shield my self when seeming tough,
I do not know if I still scream at night on seeing the flickering headlight,
I do not know and I cannot cope.
I see with my one eye, As a tear trickles down my cheek,
I drain my self of each thought and every belief.
In this void, I am alone and terrified and weak.
I do understand it all now, this is who I am, this is me.
So let me dwell in my sacred zone of comfort,
Let me put on my blazing red velvet skirt,
Let me pour myself some ice wine,
Let me look 76 when I am 49.
Let me be. Please.

This is one of my 3D rendered scenes, I will replace the transparent blob with the character below. I will make changes to the scene and lit it properly. After animating the blob movement and the camera movements, I will rotoscope straight ahead stream of consciousness way.
(not sure about this)Something parallel to this: I have recorded myself singing this, I will draw and perform in quill and react to my voice. I will layer the strokes and animation made onto the final animation in After effects.

For the later part of the poem I will position the blob in the scene below.

Friction Day 02
Jonathan came to see us, showed us excerpts from his films and talked about them briefly. After that we were given a free writing task. I found this 10 min exercise extremely liberating not to think about words or structure and just keep writing in true sync with my stream of consciousness. We were then given 5 min to underline/circle interesting bits from the text,  another 5 to the refine it a bit.
After Break, We traveled in the tube and sketched the passengers. We got off at Paddington and sketched a few more.

After reaching Paddington i think I either took an early/late train to embankment and lost my mates (*weeping*), I texted a couple of em, but i mean no ones got network underground so, oh well! I continued doing the writing exercise Tim told us before my departure with the group. I wrote a line of a poem when the train stopped at a station, I had time to work on that line until the next station arrives, and then gradually build on the other lines of the piece.
“Downward looking old lady,
wearing red coat and black gloves.
White trainers! coming from a jog maybe?
I don’t know her life, who knows!”

Friction day01
We did a couple of writing exercises
Writing something in 1st person
It was 7 am in the morning and my alarm went off. I spammed the snooze button as usual for about 46 minutes. The thing is I sort of like to finish a dream. and that got disturbed as Jaysen woke me up. Several bangs on my door. I didn't answer.
Same story 2nd person (Jaysen’s POV) (Feedback: make it sound like Jaysen)
I made my way downstairs to wake her up. I incrementally and gradually knocked harder, just to not have her roll off the bed in sonic shock. I was fuming tho, I really just wanted to leave for work in 15 min and my mum asked me to give her a lift.
Same story from a mad person’s POV
Princess adobe at the end of the corridor. Shriek sounds annoying me as a chap walks hurries down the stairway. I run towards the princess and slid under her bed. I am petrified of sound. Thud. Thud. BANG! I have now almost wet myself. The princess is mumbling a poem and the chap is knocking to the rhythm.
Write it backwards
Write it in present tense, as if it were happening now.

The controller
Animatic-record sound in one take-no edits
Magda and Joe had come up with this story of a young meek girl who is tangled in red tape and bureaucracy. She just wants her papers to be approved. However the Cruel and ruthless lady behind the desk hasn’t stamped ‘approved’ in 20 years now! A chap in his mid 20′s jamming to his tunes(Oliver tree maybe?) takes the next shift. He approves the papers in a blink and the girl carries on living happily ever after(until ofc she passes away naturally due to old age)...
I created this room setup for us to visualise the space, perspective and camera rotations. (I created the character just for practice i guess?)
