Ermine (it/its), reactor engineer for Johnson-Tanner Mercenary Corps Advanced Mechanized Infantry Division! Here to make sure our Lancers frames stay nice and cool and stable! Ask me about my opinions on IPS-N's fuel blends! (OoC: Lancer RP log run by @dragongirlteeth)
Would exposing a reactor to nuclear fallout affect its performance? Am testing a new grenade launcher and need to know if my reactor needs like special sealing
Don't commit war crimes. Don't dirty bomb people.
Yes radioactive particulate contamination will cause instabilities in reactors, particularly magnetically confined fusion reactors. Be very careful.
Greetings, how angry would you get if , (hypothetically) someone managed to implement a mathur stop into a Tokugawa, specifically for the reason of staying in the danger zone,(hypothetically). OKLoveYouByeeeeeeeee
While I personally would discourage continually running your reactor in the danger zone, as long as you're not letting critical components overheat, I would only be mildly annoyed. Keeping your reactor running dangerously hot means the components will fail faster than expected, so your technicians will need to keep up an aggressive maintenance schedule.
On the other hand, my experience with Tokugawa pilots tells me this would not happen, and so I can see why HA declined to implement that system in the Tokugawa's design.
I've known plenty of pilots who fell in love with their technicians, and I can tell you the one thing that bonds a pilot and her tech better than working on a machine together, is when that machine comes back in good order so they have more time to spend with each other!
What does it mean if a Gundam Evangelion zhingie I interacted wizh starts hissing really loudly and hot burning steam is coming out of zheir elbow joints?
And za hissing is getting louder and steam is coming out faster?
Zhis is a time-sensitive hypozhetical question, by za way.
Weh heh!
Ok first take a breath and assess the situation.
Can you get in the cockpit?
If you can, try to find the switch labeled "RFC" and set it to "DISCHARGE"
Next, find the slider labeled "CONTROL" and jam it as far forwards as you can.
Finally, find the knob labeled "moderator" and set it to zero. I know that sounds counterintuitive but trust me.
If you can't get in the cockpit, I suggest you find another pilot to subdue the machine.

what can I do to help my mechanic not hate/scold me for cooking my mech? does it have something to do with piloting my enkidu?
uh, I don't have much info on the enkidu - HA denies the design exists so manuals are hard to find. But if what I hear is true, I think the safest thing you can do is stop. Tokugawas are bad because HA encourages their pilots to cook the reactor - Enkidu is worse because half the time the pilot doesn't realize they're doing it.
My second best advice to you is to invest in high capacity heat pump systems, or perhaps look into some of the ghengis' cooling designs. Also you can tweak the fuel blend for slightly more alpha output to reduce heat penetration into sumps which hold on to it and cause buildup in the core. Getting those particles absorbed on the surface of the shielding rather than deeper in the material should better allow it to be conducted away by the internal manifolds.
If one were to obtain some end of life highly unstable reactor cores for use as ammo. Would a catapult or slingshot be more effective to deliver them
Hmph. Why.
Although at least you're not just chucking new reactor cores. You could probably hypothetically make some sort of magnetically accelerated cannon like a railgun or coilgun. You shouldn't though.
I dropped my sandwich in one of the air intake valves and now the cockpit smells funny. I tried to reach in and take it out but my mech made a growling noise at me
What do?
Sigh...
Are you piloting, say, a mech that may or may not have been prototyped by Harrison Armory? Or is your mech a particularly angry swarm of nanomachines?
Either way that's your mech's sandwich now.
Also you should talk to your engineering supervisor about refreshing your foreign object debris control training.
Earlier, my CO kicked me out of the engineering bay because she had beef with one of the pilots? I'm not sure what happened but wow that was a lot of shouting.
Anyways that was a good excuse to take the day with Marten.
I'm glad there's someone else in this company who plays Little Wars: 0U, Marten was this close to forcing me to print my own army and spending our next date night learning how to play.
I feel like I need to check with December @lancersafetysigns before I let you back near a reactor. You did complete the confined spaces and high radiation environment training certification I sent you, right?
heyyy
would you guys advice against replacing the cooling fluid in my tokugawa with energy drink?
- nuclear anon
Jimbo here ; asked my old LUCIFER co-pilot what he thought of it and all he said was "thats fuckin' rad, playa'"
If you do this I'm making you clean your own heat sinks. Those things are annoying as hell to unclog and I do not want whatever nuclear caramel this makes getting stuck in my fur.

Hello. How do I tune my mechs reactor to produce more harmful radiation and heat? And would it be possible to open the reactors aperture to direct that harmful radiation? I'm having troubles with infantry combat assets.
What the actual fuck? This is a little beyond the scope of what I usually do. And also kinda fucked up. And also that first requirement is by definition bad for your reactor.
That said @harrison-armory-incorporated might be able to help you. I won't though.
my reactor control rods may or may not have shattered due to an overzealous blackbeard and my mech may or may not be emitting a smoke that have a concentration of irradiated graphite that my NHP dubbed “worrying”. what do i do?
Shut down your mech and have one of your squad mates bring it back for repair. DO NOT BREATHE THE RADIOACTIVE GRAPHITE SMOKE.
In fact you're going to want to contact your medical team anyways for preventative care since you were potentially exposed.
SMH Fission power plants are always a mess...
