Sand cats are the Peter Pan of felines: they retain a kitten-like appearance their whole lives, giving the impression that they never grow up. Although they live in the desert Areas of North Africa, Arabia, Central Asia, and Pakistan, they are considered near threatened due to the illegal pet trade and sport hunting.

These cats are well adapted to their harsh environment. They can survive in temperatures between −5 °C (23 °F) to 52 °C (126 °F) and are able to survive for months on the water in their food. Unfortunately, a recent study indicated that only 61% of sand cats born in captivity live to day 30, primarily due to maternal neglect; they are also prone to various respiratory illnesses which makes them unsuitable as pets. The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street is a unique public space that spans three storeys and offers 360 degree views across the City of London. Visitors can wander around the exquisitely landscaped gardens, observation decks and an open air terrace of what is London’s highest public garden. Entry to the Sky Garden is free, but space is limited and visits must be booked online in advance through the official site. (Source)

Tucson, Arizona-based photography enthusiast Greg McCown recently managed to capture a shot of a lifetime. While shooting landscapes near the small town of Marana, Arizona, McCown snapped this beautiful photo showing both a lightning bolt and a rainbow in the sky.

Karymsky Lake is a crater lake located in the Karymsky volcano in Russia. With a radius of 5 km it was once one of the world’s largest fresh water lakes, but as a result of a recent eruption toxic gases turned this into one of the largest acid water lakes.
