Simon and Humanity

Jericrew is Simons family, however, he always saw himself as a piece that isn’t very needed. Simon looked at Markus as their savior, North as determined and confident and Josh whos knowledge is impeccable, what did Simon have to offer? He was a home assistant android, what exactly was his purpose?

Unknowingly, his purpose was keeping the humanity in androids. Simons compassion and words kept the humanity in the androids who escaped situations where hurt, anger and violence seemed to be the only thing they felt.

Simon was a home assistant who helped raise children, he loved and cared for children in a way a human father would. Loving a child as their own is something that cannot be programmed, it is learned and it is a feeling.

He was more human than he realized before he even deviated.

It’s Munday! Munday fact time

Why did I decide to write Simon?

Well ! This is not my first time! Wayyy back when the game was first released, I had a friend who was very into it and got me into it. Surprisingly enough I followed Markus more in terms of characters I found the most interesting, and then he got to jericho.

If you know me well enough, you’ll know that my muses usually will range from snarky assholes to quipsters, so I was just as surprised when the first ever muse I wrote was a soft spoken android from the game. A soft spoken character was never really my thing, all of my muses from canon to oc have been loud, quippy and could be an asshole from time to time.

Why did I get so attached so quickly? I think it has to do with familiarity. I myself am loud, obnoxious and down right awful in most cases, and I think Simon was either someone I always wanted to be or someone I wish I knew. - cont. under cut

Another reason is my own hcs i put into him. A lot of his ordeals in life is personal experience. From the HC about his deviancy and abuse from his owner (heavily influenced by my own father) to his teen verse of being the overworked older sibling. (I have two older brothers and a younger step sister. Simons attitude is heavily based on my brother stevens relationship with me until he moved away, and also based on my own relations and personality when it came to my younger sibs and cousins who I always took care of when we were at that age).

Simon and I are not alike. He is soft spoken and kind, I am very loud and kind of a dick. What we DO have in common is the tendency to overlook our own problems to help others, our feelings and our emotions we push aside for the time being. Is it healthy? No, Do we both know this? mhm, but we do it anyway because we both find ourselves wanting to care for others more than ourselves.

Simon couldn’t leave now, not with the gated area now flooded with people. He had to stay put and so he did. The android making his way carefully through the building, slipping the hood off his coat as he looked around for any injured androids or maybe- just maybe- some spare thirium and parts for Jericho. The collapse of the roof wasn’t something he intended or saw coming, managing to move quickly despite is now injured leg that had him sitting and leaning against the wall.

He had found himself staring down the hall at what he thought was another android, it was hard to tell from the blinking lights and dust that filtered through the old building

“hello?”

The lights down the hallway flickered behind the steps being taken. Something about this place was quarantined for a reason. The news gave only minor information as casters stood outside the gated area, wanting to know more. A building crumbling due to no architectural flaws in the city of Detroit – seemed to be pinned on Android activity, as recently things between robotic activities and the worry of human safety boomed the media. But this was something else… This apartment complex top floor became fragile and matted with… unworldly discomfort. She could sense the unease of a subconsciousness; most likely already injured from the unexplained rupture of the building’s rooftop caving in half way. She was there, at the end of the dark hallway, breathing in and out, but did not move; just stood there – a creature made of unique metal, designed so beautifully, fingers like claws up against the wall, the tips scratching at it. –Was this thing an android?

“I will help you as much as I can...what’s your name” at that, he led other android to the side to look him over, they didn’t have a lot of parts or spare thirium but he would do what he could.

A silent shock but comfort when he talked to the other PL600. He hadn’t seen one of his own in what seemed like ages, they were outdated, many sent to the junkyard or recycled. The product of a failing market and sold cheap to the public. It looked as if the other had been through something rough, and Simon was not surprised.

“My name is Simon, you’re safe here-”
