Gimme 5: Lazy Monk hosts festive Ugly Sweater Fun Run - Leader-Telegram
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Editor’s note: Gimme 5 is a five-question interview on a topic of local interest.
How many years has this event been going?
This is now our sixth year. We started with just our Saturday morning running group that meets in Owen Park. We just started inviting other groups, and we made it public last year.
How many people attend?
Last year, we had more than 100 running.
Do you hand out prizes for best ugly sweater?
We’re not doing that, but we’ll have drawings and (other) prizes. We’ll have free (Indianhead Track Club) memberships for attendees.
Why did you move it to Lazy Monk?
There would be tons of people if we had it at Owen Park, and it was difficult to set up tables for hot chocolate. This gives us a warm place to meet.
What makes this such a fun event?
It’s fun to get the familes together, the runners and walkers, and it’s nice to see everyone before Christmas.
We’ll accept donations for Bolton Refuge House, so it’s nice to help our local charities, too.
— Chris Vetter, reporter

'Unnecessary and dumb': driver slams stupid motorcyclist - Big Rigs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“IT’S JUST unnecessary and dumb”.
A driver from the Northern Territory has slammed the actions of a motorcyclist who was filmed sliding in between two cars and a truck while riding along the Stuart Highway.
Caught on dashcam footage by a driver who asked not to be named, the rider dives for a gap of about 2m between the front of a car and the back of a truck, before racing forward and doing the same to the car ahead.
“I was doing about 85km/h (in a 90km/h zone) which gives you an idea of how fast he was going,” the dashcam footage owner said. “Not only has he put is life at risk but other road users’ as well.”

Cat Mistakenly Shipped More Than 700 Miles From Home After Sneaking Into Box
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A curious cat named Baloo was mistakenly shipped more than 700 miles away from his home in Nova Scotia, Canada after crawling into a parcel destined for Alberta.
The tabby’s owner, Jacqueline Lake, told CTV News that the mischievous, 1-year-old cat had secretly snuck into the bottom of a package containing tire rims. The day after the parcel had been sent, Lake began searching for the missing family pet.
“We knocked door-to-door, we searched the woods, we searched under decks, in garages, under steps … he was gone,” she said.
Baloo was later discovered by a delivery driver in Montreal, 17-hours into his cross-country road trip.
A local SPCA shelter managed to track down the feline stowaway’s owners using the parcel’s tracking code.
Baloo returned to his family, safe and sound, on Saturday evening.

Trump wants to challenge SNL in courts for making fun of him - KUTV 2News

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) —
President Donald Trump is upset about jokes mocking him on TV’s Saturday Night Live.
Trump tweeted Sunday: “A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?”
Trump seemed to question his own assertion asking: Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal?”
Weekend Updates hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che both made fun of Trump Saturday night on SNL.
Jost joked: “This last week was a pretty bad year for Donald Trump. Think about what’s currently under investigation for him. Trump’s campaign, his transition, his inauguration, his business and his presidency. So everyone check your cards because you might have impeachment bingo.”
SNL has mocked every U.S. president since it first began airing in 1975.
The first amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects both “a free press” and the “freedom of speech.”

New Post has been published on https://shovelnews.com/giulianis-defense-of-trump-is-a-death-spiral-of-stupid-nyu-law-professor-says-newsweek/
Giuliani's Defense of Trump Is a 'Death Spiral of Stupid,' NYU Law Professor Says - Newsweek
Melissa Murray, a law professor at New York University (NYU), slammed Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s defense of the president in a Sunday interview with MSNBC.
Giuliani, who was also previously the mayor of New York City, gave a series of Sunday interviews to defend his client against the latest allegations in connection with ex Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s guilty plea and sentencing, as well as the immunity deal given to American Media Inc.
Trump’s current lawyer downplayed the significance of these developments, arguing that prosecutors have nothing substantial to bring against the president. Murray, however, dismissed to the former mayor’s defense with biting criticism. The legal scholar pointed out that Giuliani’s representation of the campaign finance violation case against Trump as “weak,” because it involved relatively small amounts of money, was incorrect.
“Is that really the issue?” Murray asked. “I mean, we have a representative of the president of the United States basically admitting to paying women money to not disclose the fact that they have been in some kind of untoward [relationship] with the president,” she said.

“And his response and his defense is that if it had been more money, it would have been more serious,” the NYU professor continued. “We are living in strange times. I mean, we are in a death spiral of stupid. This is insanity,” she added.
Murray then turned her attention to Giuliani’s and Trump’s defense in the ongoing investigation into alleged “collusion” with the Russian government. Trump and his lawyer have frequently said that “collusion” would not be a crime, while also maintaining that none took place.
“Giuliani is correct that collusion [with Russia] is not a federal crime writ large,” the legal scholar said. “But all of the activities that go into collusion — misleading statements, collaborating with a foreign government, directing payments from a foreign government to a campaign — all of those things are federal crimes and the conspiracy to engage with others to do this is also a crime,” she pointed out.
In his Sunday interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News, Giuliani attempted to discredit Cohen as untrustworthy. “He did something I’ve never heard a lawyer do—taped his own client. The man is a complete pathological liar,” Trump’s current attorney said.
During his sentencing last week, Cohen said that “blind loyalty” to Trump led him to “choose a path of darkness over light.” He was sentenced to three years for his admitted crimes.
Lanny Davis, who has served as Cohen’s attorney, said during a Sunday interview with CBS News’ Face the Nation that his client had decided to  take “ownership” of his illegal actions because “he feared for his country and his family.” He also insisted that his client has “corroborating evidence” as does Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading the probe into the president’s and his associate’s alleged crimes.

We weren't stupid, say drivers stranded in floodwater - Walcha News
VicRoads will investigate why workers holding a “slow down” sign guided motorists onto the Hume Freeway, only for them to get trapped in floodwater a short time later. Water had flooded the road north of Wangaratta after a heavy downpour of 80mm of rain on Thursday morning. Angry motorists who had been forced to abandon their cars after getting rescued attended a community meeting on Friday. They were not happy that Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp said driving on the freeway was “a dumb thing to do”. “There is a certain degree of frustration, when people after many warnings continue to make those poor, foolish decisions to drive into floodwaters,” he said on Thursday. But the motorists all said the same thing: they were only following the advice of people directing traffic at the Wangaratta on-ramp, with one man saying the attempt to make them look like fools with public shaming was “bulls—”. VicRoads liaison officer Rowan McEwan said he was not aware of who approved the people with the “slow” sign to allow cars onto the freeway. “We know the water rose incredibly quickly. In a perfect world, you would not have been directed in there,” he said. “The guys who waved you through, they were doing so under the impression it was safe to drive through and they would not have been aware the water was rising so quickly. “I can only apologise for that occurring. “We haven’t got the details of who they were.” Mr McEwan tried to calm people as the meeting became heated, asking them to work together so the abandoned cars could be moved safely off the freeway. “The vehicles were bobbing around a bit in the water and we thought they might have gone to the downstream side, but no,” he said. “Very surprisingly at 1.50am this morning, the water had receded, which no one expected. “We thought like in 2012 the road would be underwater for 48 hours.” VicRoads and the SES started work yesterday afternoon to tow the abandoned cars to the nearby Benton Hill rest area, where they could be picked up by their owners. The southbound lanes on higher ground were reopened yesterday morning, but SES incident controller Bruce Weiner the northbound lanes took longer – eventually reopening at 4.30pm – because of the debris which needed to be cleared from the road. “It is highly recommended you get your vehicle cleared as safe to drive before you drive, as aspects such as power steering and electrics may be affected,” he said. “Yesterday I appreciate was a very stressful day for as and I appreciate it would have been a very stressful day for you people. “Heartfelt feelings go out from us to you, it would have been a pretty tough day for you all.” Kate Reid was one of the motorists stuck on the freeway on Thursday and had her two-year-old and five-month-old children with her in the car. Luckily she had packed snacks for the day, so aside from being a little restless, the children were safe and comfortable. “Obviously fate was looking out for us and we were all organised to sit in the water for two hours,” she said. Mrs Reid was was of the lucky motorists who was only 200 metres from an emergency u-turn point and was eventually able to get to the southbound lanes. She said she was very grateful to the truck driver behind her who returned and drove her car to safety, as she held her restless baby in her arms. He also checked it was safe to drive home and got rid of a huntsman spider crawling inside. “Everyone rallies together and that’s what’s reassuring,” Mrs Reid said. “He said he had children and grandchildren and would like to think that someone would do it for them.” But like many of the other frustrated motorists, she said the wire rope barriers had the unintended consequences of trapping the cars in the floodwater, with no way to escape. “It wasn’t actually avoidable, it was the barricades that caused the most hazard,” she said. “It started off mild, just like you were driving through a bit of road water, then it just all of a sudden got quite deep to the point where you slow down to a crawling pace and then the traffic just stopped completely. “It’s because of the (wire-rope) barricades – no one could go anywhere, everyone was trapped.” Once the motorists followed the instructions of the person with the “slow” sign, there was nowhere for them to go but into floodwater. “Even though they’re in place for certain other measures, that’s the reason why everyone was so stuck,” Mrs Reid said. Mr McEwan told yesterday’s meeting that not everyone would have been able to reach the southbound lanes. “Because of the configuration of the road, you wouldn’t have been able to cross that road with the southbound carriageway being so much higher, you couldn’t have driven from north to south anyway,” he said. Euroa MP Steph Ryan has called on the impact of wire rope barriers on motorist safety during emergency events to be reviewed. “Considerations such as access for emergency services or the ramifications in flood events like those of the last 24 hours haven’t been properly thought through,” she said. “Because of the barriers, motorists had nowhere to go. “They did not have the option to cross the median strip to the south bound lane which sits on higher ground than the north bound lane and a number of people had to be winched out by helicopter to safety. “Emergency service workers did an outstanding job ensuring nobody was hurt, however I have grave concerns that if this event had been a bushfire people would have been trapped with no escape.” Wangaratta mayor Dean Rees has described the incident as a “freak rainfall event”, which had been unprecedented. “We know there’s been at least 23 residences and the Everton Community Hall experience floodwaters above floor level,” he said. “Council played a role in setting up the emergency relief centre at the HP Barr Reserve, which accommodated about a dozen people on Thursday night and had about 100 people come through the doors.” Council crews have also been out inspecting closed roads to assess if they are safe to open again. “Many roads have started to re-open but we know there is significant damage in some areas, and this will take some time to firstly assess, then repair,” Cr Rees said. US television show Saturday Night Live has poked fun at Theresa May in a skit mocking her Brexit troubles.
Theresa May played by Kate McKinnon starts the comedic sketch by copying the prime minister’s famed dance moves from her speech at the Conservative Party conference earlier this year.
She then tells the audience: “What a dreadful week it’s been. My Brexit deal is falling apart, I almost got voted out and no one in the world likes me at all.”
Kate McKinnon was also joined by Matt Damon who played David Cameron.
He was introduced by the prime minister as the man who “bounced and left me to clean up this mess.”
Damon then tells her: “You know what’s funny? People hate me but they really hate you. Even though I did Brexit. I mean you’ve got to laugh.”
The sketch then continues with Mrs May introducing her next guest Voldermort. She tells the audience: “He’s the one person in Britain, more reviled than me.”
Matt Damon appeared as David Cameron (Saturday Night Live)
However Voldermort appears to distance himself from her, worried about his public image.
The sketch was popular on social media.
Alexandra De Luca wrote on Twitter: “For once, staying up for SNL was a perfect choice because they had a Brexit sketch in which Voldermort was embarrassed to be associated with Theresa May and all my nightmares have been realised.”
While another user said: “I appreciate not too many Americans know how f***** the UK is under Brexit but I very much appreciated this.”
And Tom Ruzyllo commented: “You know Brexit is going swimmingly when it ends up as a sketch on SNL.
“Theresa May’s dance and Matt Damon as David Cameron is something I need to see more of.”
Hunt: PM’s deal could be passed if EU was more flexible on backstop
Early on Sunday, the prime minister launched a stinging attack at one of her predecessors – accusing Tony Blair of “insulting” the British people and the office of prime minister by “undermining” Brexit talks with calls in Brussels for a second referendum.
In a pointed swipe at the Labour heavyweight, the Prime Minister said a second referendum would amount to Parliament abdicating responsibility.
But the outspoken attack on Mr Blair came amid reports two of the Prime Minister’s most senior allies are making preparations for a possible referendum on the final terms of the deal.
Cabinet Office Minister David Lidington, Mrs May’s defacto deputy, has met Labour MPs to discuss a cross-party consensus on the idea of a new vote, according to the Sunday Times.

‘Maybe he’s just plain stupid’: Broad Ripple shop robbed for the second time this month - CBS 4 Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A Broad Ripple shop was robbed for the second time this month.  It’s the latest in a series of suspected armed robberies on Broad Ripple Avenue over the past several weeks.
This was a bold robbery on a Saturday in the middle of a bustling sports bar scene on a game day.  The man entered The Shop on Broad Ripple Avenue, indicated to the cashier he was armed and asked for the money in the register.
“Unfortunately, she was shaken,” The Shop co-owner Alex Janeszek said of his employee. “We also had a mother with her daughter here in the store. They were visibly shaken as well.”
Janeszek believes the thief to be the same individual that robbed the store weeks ago.
On social media, The Shop posted to Instagram that night saying the crook had been caught, thanks in part to their employee who snagged the license plate number of the  crook. IMPD could not confirm if there was an arrest made, but they are investigating any connection between the two robberies and a third that happened at the nearby Three Dog Bakery just weeks ago.
“It seems like he’s targeting businesses with one female employee working; that seems to be his M.O., which is pretty cowardly,” Janeszek said. “To be scared to go to work and make a living, that’s not fair. That’s not right.”
Moving forward The Shop will no longer be accepting cash for the rest of the year, just in case someone attempts this for a third time.  Janeszek would not say how much the crook got away with but called the loss minimal in comparison to his employees’ safety.
“I can’t wait. That would be the best Christmas present just to know that it’s nothing to worry about,” Janeszek said of a possible arrest in the case. “I feel it’s isolated and not that crime is rampant in the city.”
If you know anything about this robbery, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.

Killoe comedian to bring funny home - Longford Leader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sean Finnerty and Colum Tyrrell, two Irish comedians making huge waves in America, return home this December, bringing with them a hilarious four-date stand-up tour.
The tour will kick off on December 20 in Limerick, and also hits Galway and Dublin, with a Longford gig taking place in John Browne’s bar on Sunday, December 23 set to provide local people with a good belly laugh just before Christmas.
Colum and Sean’s humor is driven by their views on America coming from an Irish perspective.
Americans are all overweight gun-toting nutters… or are they? Do Americans worship Donald Trump? What is it like eating pancakes for breakfast? Come and find out first hand.
After 21 years of growing up in Longford, Killoe native Sean Finnerty decided to move stateside where a series of mature decisions that he failed to make led him to stand up comedy.
Spending his first number of years in comedy based out of Orlando, Sean was selected for Comedy Central’s Up Next competition (2013) and as a semi finalist in Florida’s Funniest Comedian (2014) resulting in him opening for WWE hall of famer Mick Foley.
A breakout year in 2015 saw Sean make his television debut as co-host of Season 9 of Fireball Run on Amazon Prime aswell as being selected to perform at the Boston Comedy Festival.
In 2016, Sean moved to New York where he quickly became known as one to watch, performing at famous venues such as Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline’s on Broadway, The Stand and The Friars’ Club.
Recently, he has also performed at several festivals including Edinburgh Fringe (2018), Laugh Your Asheville Off (2017) and Electric Picnic (2018), along with making it to the semi finals of the nationwide talent search Stand Up NBC.
A keen eye for detail, Sean has also developed a reputation as a roaster and is currently the number one ranked roast comic in New York City.
“In recent years I have been returning to Ireland more to stay in touch with the Irish comedy scene,” Sean explained.
“This will be my first headlining tour of Ireland, co-headlining with Colum.
“Every time I return home, I have to try to remember what Irish people find funny again because I’m so used to performing for Americans.
“American references need to be changed to Irish ones, certain topics I’ll drop because they’re unrelateable to Irish audiences and others I’ll bring back.
“I probably prefer Irish audiences, although it’s a tough generalization to make. American crowds feel tense at the minute like they’re worried you’ll offend. Irish audiences are there to laugh.”
This will be Sean’s first time performing in his home county and it’ll be an unmissable show.
Sean Finnerty and Colum Tyrrell will perform their hilarious show in John Browne’s Bar, Longford town, on Sunday, December 23.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets at €10 are available at the door.

Brendan Cole gives final Strictly verdict: What a night! - HELLO! Magazine
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Congratulations to our new Strictly champions…
December 16, 2018 – 16:49 GMT HELLOMAGAZINE.COM Brendan Cole reveals his thoughts on the Strictly Come Dancing final 2018, including winners Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, in his exclusive column for Hello! Online.
Well it was a big show and we certainly saw everything we’d expect from a Strictly final, apart from that tiff with the judges. Having a go at a judge for not giving a 9 or a 10 is quite a risk and one that I thought may have swayed the public to vote another way. Also, the chap in question ran the risk of showing a perhaps ‘not so squeaky clean’ side to the Strictly viewers. Dangerous stuff in a fluffy final, Kevin!

But the results are in and it didn’t matter… It’s Kevin who finally lifts the Glitterball Trophy. I think Stacey was there as well, but it seemed that the night belonged to Kevin in his fifth attempt to win the show. Clearly Stacey and Kevin were the people’s champions after finishing bottom with the judges and, as I predicted a few weeks back in my Hello! Magazine column, they were almost a sure thing. I must say, after watching last night’s show, there was a small part of me that thought maybe, just maybe, one of the others would take it, as we saw some outstanding dances from the other three gracious couples (yes I said it – three, even Joe and Diane pulled out a great show dance and for the first time I can almost agree with the score of a 10 for it… call it Final Positivity). Regardless of how anyone danced last night, making the final and putting together a new and exciting show dance and perfecting the other two performances is a massive achievement from all and they must be congratulated on a job well done.
Tumblr media
My winners of the night could’ve been Ashley and Pasha or Faye and Giovanni. They all danced out of their skins and demonstrated a master class of how a final should be performed. Ashley and Pasha’s contemporary show dance was risky, clever, exciting, unique and showed incredible skill and artistry, while Faye and Giovanni’s American Smooth style Showdance was beautiful, elegant and classy with proper old school glamour. Both showed how to deliver on the big night and in my eyes were the winners, week after week.
Ashley has come under a lot of criticism for being a trained dancer and I’m often asked my opinion on the subject, so let me tell you where I stand. In any given Strictly show, you need all different levels of talent and abilities. If every contestant was a novice, the show would be boring, if every contestant had dance experience, the show would be ‘dull dull dull darling’. You need the good, the bad and the ugly to make Strictly what it is and as far as I’m concerned, if the BBC have invited someone to take part, they deserve to be there and would be a fool to say no just because they can dance. It is indeed the BBC who should take the flack for these decisions, not the likes of Ashley. Here is why I think she really deserved her place in the show… Last night, she demonstrated another level of precision and ability that simply blew me away. The aim throughout the series is to improve week after week and Ashley continued to do this from start to finish. Ashley and Pasha may not have lifted the trophy last night but their degree of precision and their outstanding performance in the final may never be equalled again. If that doesn’t belong in Strictly then it’s a shame for the show and future contestants that might say no when asked. For me, she shone last night and deserved every cheer and 10 she received.

Speaking of 10s and potential winners, Faye and Giovanni were sublime last night! Their Showdance was outstanding and magical to watch and their Theatre Jazz was probably my favourite dance of the entire series so I’m glad we got to see that again. She has shown class throughout the series has been beautiful to watch. I say it often but when you get a performance that you wish you could be in, then it’s being done to perfection. I loved the lighting, the costuming, the theming and I loved them. Their Viennese Waltz wasn’t my favourite as the top line was a little funny (mostly from my mate Gio) but it still deserved the marks it received and the praise it got.
Tumblr media
Back to the winners and I’m really glad we got to see Stacey and Kevin’s Paso Doblé again in the final. Another highlight of the series for me and last night I do believe it was even better than when they performed it in the series. It must feel weird getting the lowest scores and still winning but I hope for them they can savour the Paso as a fine moment in a big final and one that allowed them to compete with the others. I think Kevin’s choreography has been great throughout the show and, as I said, he played it perfectly in his climb to the top.
I’d like to say congratulations to the team behind the scenes. Hair, costume, makeup, lighting, music, production… all that contribute something to allow the couples to shine week after weeks deserve all the praise in the world. It’s an incredible team and the effort put in is amazing.
In my final paragraph of this column, I’d like to say thank you to all of my readers and Hello Magazine! for your support. In the very beginning, watching Strictly and commenting on it was a little odd for me but your lovely comments (and the odd critical one) have been great to receive and I’ve loved giving you my opinion on the show. So here’s to another fantastic series of Strictly, let’s raise a glass to all who took part, but in particular the winners of 2018! Congratulations Stacey and Kevin the 2018 Champions!

It's Islamic Terrorism, Stupid! - The Jewish Press - JewishPress.com

Masked Islamic terrorists in Gaza hold axes and a gun as they celebrate the axe/knife attacks in a Jerusalem synagogue in 2014.
Originally posted to the JNS website
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Matteo Salvini was blasted by members of his government and the media on Tuesday for calling Hezbollah “Islamic terrorists.” Salvini used this apt description after touring Israel’s northern border, where the Lebanon-based Shi’ite organization has been digging attack tunnels for more than a decade.
While Salvini was being raked over the coals for daring to be so indelicate as to insult radical Islamists, a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” opened fire on innocent people at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, killing at least three and seriously wounding several others.
The assailant, who has yet to be apprehended, was identified as Chérif Chekatt. A suspect in a current homicide investigation, Chekatt served a number of stints in prison for robberies in France and Germany. Since his release from jail in 2015, where he engaged in “fundamentalist religious practices,” he has been under surveillance by French security services. Nevertheless, the French government was hesitant to label the deadly attack as an act of terrorism until the following day—without specifying its origin, of course, and pretending to examine “possible motives.”
Israeli authorities are quicker on the draw when it comes to recognizing, naming and acknowledging the Islamist nature of terrorist acts committed against innocent civilians.
On Sunday, for instance—the last night of Hanukkah—seven Israelis waiting at a bus stop outside the community of Ofra were riddled with bullets in a Palestinian drive-by shooting. One of the victims was 21-year-old Shira Ish-Ran, in her seventh month of pregnancy. Shot in her abdomen and pelvis, she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed an emergency C-section, and immediately began working to save both lives. Thankfully, she and her husband, Amichai, who was also wounded in the attack, are in stable condition. Tragically, in spite of herculean efforts on the part of hospital staff, the baby died on Wednesday and was buried that night.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring the infant’s “heinous murderers” to justice.
Washington, too, was unequivocal. Calling the attack “absolutely disgusting,” U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Jason Greenblatt, challenged Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas to behave properly for a change and issue a public condemnation of the shootings. But Abbas has been snubbing the Trump administration over its insistence that he negotiate a peace deal with Israel, and cease paying hefty stipends to terrorists and their families as an incentive to kill Jews.
This is not to say that he failed to decry the events surrounding the Ofra attack. On the contrary, according to a statement released by his office, Abbas contacted Arab and international officials to request that they hold Israel accountable for the “dangerous escalation embodied in its continued raids on Palestinian cities.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman went after Hamas—the terrorist organization that rules Gaza, and is competing for power in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)—for celebrating the attack.
“Another vile act of Palestinian terrorism last night included the shooting of a pregnant woman,” he tweeted. “Hamas calls the shooters ‘heroic’—yes, the same Hamas that the U.N. could not resolve to condemn last week. The U.S. stands with Israel against terrorists even if others won’t.”
A four-day hunt for the perpetrators of the attack in Israel resulted in the killing on Wednesday of a key suspect, who turned out to be the son of notorious senior Hamas member Omar Barghouti, himself a convicted terrorist—and now the father of a martyr for Allah. Hopefully, Chekatt will meet a similar same fate at the hands of French police.
Which brings us back to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Unabashedly seeking the destruction of Israel and the subjugation of the United States to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hezbollah is responsible for deadly attacks against Jews and Americans across the world. These include the 1983 truck bombings at the U.S. Marines barracks in Lebanon, which left 305 people dead; the 1992 bombing of the Israeli Embassy in Argentina, in which 29 people were killed and hundreds were wounded; the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish center in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people and wounded hundreds of others; and the 2005 suicide bombing in Beirut, which left 23 people dead, including former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
Last week’s uncovering of Hezbollah’s network of tunnels extending from Lebanon into Israel is simply the latest revelation of the organization’s mandate from its patrons in Tehran. It is no wonder, then, that Italy’s Salvini was bewildered by the backlash he received for calling Hezbollah “Islamic terrorists.”
At a press conference in Jerusalem on Wednesday, he quipped: “If they dig underground tunnels that breach Israeli territory, I don’t think they do so to do the shopping.”
No kidding.
But Salvini—who is referred to by most of the Western press as a “far-right leader” for his stance against unfettered illegal migration—should know better than to expect his European compatriots to accept any comment that could be construed as offensive to Muslims. Indeed, the European Union is far busier combating “Islamophobia” than it is to fighting Islamic terrorism—even when a killer on a rampage praises Allah loudly and proudly.

2 SC justices dismiss alleged involvement in oust Duterte plot as 'funny' - Manila Bulletin

Two Supreme Court (SC) justices described as “funny” their inclusion in the list of individuals and groups allegedly involved in the ouster plot against President Duterte.
(WIKIPEDIA/ MANILA BULLETIN)
Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio and Associate Justice Marvic Mario Victor F. Leonen laughed off their inclusion in the so-called list that was posted by Presidential son and former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte on his Facebook page.
But the post has since been deleted and the younger Duterte was quoted as saying he posted it for fun.
“I consider that as a joke. It’s laughable,” Carpio said.
Leonen, on the other hand, said in his Twitter account: “I am vegan. I do not collude nor conspire with Jollibee.”
Linked to the “Oust Duterte Movement” were politicians, bishops, former Cabinet members, journalists, civil society leaders and companies.
Among those in the list, aside from Carpio and Leonen, were Vice President Leni Robredo, former vice president Jejomar Binay, former chief justice Hilario Davide, opposition Sens. Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, former Cabinet members Corazon Soliman, Florencio Abad, Paquito Ochoa, Cesar Purisima and former police chief Alan Purisima.
Also found in the list were Catholic bishops Broderick Pabillo, Leo Drona, Antonio Tobias, Deogracias Iñiguez, Pablo David and journalists Maria Ressa, Ellen Tordesillas and Ed Lingao.
Bishop Julio Xavier Labayen, who died two years ago, and Jollibee Foods Corporation were also in the list.
Carpio “totally ignored” his inclusion in the list and said he had no idea where such insinuation came from.
But he said: “Well, since I’m always in the news, it did not surprise me anymore. The list is incredible since it even included the vocal supporters of the President.”
Carpio has been vocal on his stand on the country’s dispute with China on the South China Sea.
While others in the list took their inclusion seriously, Carpio and Leonen just laughed it off.
