Breaking: Supreme court sacks Ihedioha as governor of Imo state, declares APC's Hope Uzodinma winner of election
The Supreme Court has annulled the election of Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state. The seven-member panel of justices today held that hedioha was not duly elected as governor.
The apex court declared Hope Uzodinma of the APC as the winner of the March 9th 2019 governorship election.
In the lead judgement which was read by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex court ordered that the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha be immediately withdrawn and a fresh certificate of return should be issued to Uzodinma. The court also directed that Uzodinma must be immediately sworn in as Governor.

Barcelona sack Ernesto Valverde and appoint Quique Setien as new coach
Spanish giants, Barcelona have sacked Ernesto Valverde and appointed Quique Setien as their new coach.
The 55-year-old was dismissed following the club's Spanish Super Cup semi-final 3 - 2 defeat to Atletico Madrid few days ago.
In 2018, Barcelona lost on away goals to Roma, despite winning the first leg 4-1, and had a 3-0 first-leg advantage overturned by Liverpool in an epic comeback by the European Champions a year later.
His successor, Setien, who has been out of work since leaving Real Betis last June has signed a contract until June 2022 as Barcelona part ways with Valverde after a two-and-a-half-year spell.
A brief Barcelona statement read: “Agreement between FC Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde to end his contract as manager of the first team. Thank you for everything, Ernesto. Best of luck in the future.”

Nigerian rapper, Yung6ix opines that fake pastors are thriving in Nigeria simply because of the level of poverty in the land. He stated this on his Twitter handle hours after rampaging youths destroyed a church building in Ondo state over rumors that the remains of a child that went missing inside the church, was dug from the church altar. The police has since debunked this rumor.

Grammy 2020: P Diddy to be honoured with 'Industry Icon Awards'
The Recording Academy has announced American rapper and businessman, Sean “Diddy” Combs as the 2020 Grammy Salute To Industry Icons honoree in recognition of his 25-year career and “continuous influence on the music industry and beyond.”
The acclaimed music producer who just celebrated his 50th birthday will get to celebrate his decades-long career at The Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Gala on January 25, a day before the annual awards ceremony.
According to a statement by Clive Davis, co-host of the Pre-GRAMMY Gala, said Combs “fully deserves this wonderful recognition. “It’s personally so gratifying that Sean “Puffy” Combs is this year’s icon,” he said.
“From his past innovative and creative contributions right from the very inception of the hip hop revolution, to his many memorable appearances at the Pre-Grammy Gala as both speaker and performer, it’s all come full circle. I couldn’t be happier for Sean as a dear friend and colleague” he said.

Last night, Hollywood stars came out dressed to the nines to celebrate one of their own, singer, Diddy, who turned 50 on November 4th.
The celebrities dressed to kill as they stepped out in style for his party which held at his Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles.
One of the highpoints of the party was seeing Kanye and JayZ in good spirit despite their clash some years ago.

British father, 50, shot dead by armed robbers outside a five-star hotel in Argentina (Photos)
The British father shot dead by armed robbers who also wounded his stepson outside a five-star hotel in Argentina has been identified as Matthew Charles Gibbard, 50.
He was gunned down by motorbike-riding thugs in an ambush in Buenos Aires on the morning of Saturday, December 14th. His stepson Stefan Joshua Zone, 28, was shot in the leg after the pair refused to hand over their luggage and tried to fight off the robbers outside the Faena Art Hotel.
CCTV footage shows one of the crooks flying off the motorcycle to tackle one of the Britons to the ground, before the other man, believed to be Mr Gibbard, bravely rushes in to kick an assailant. There is a ferocious struggle for their bags before shots are fired by an attacker with a pistol.
According to local media reports, a bullet fatally passed through Mr Gibbard's right armpit and possibly penetrated his lung. Meanwhile, Mr Zone was rushed to hospital and remains in a serious condition after he was shot in the thigh.
Gibbard was head of retirement homes company Tingdene which has an annual turnover of £20million. He is married to 52-year-old Suzanne and the family home is in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

Clémence Botino wins Miss France and social media users express concern that black women are winning beauty pageants
Clémence Botino on Saturday December 14, took home the prestigious Miss France crown.
The 22-year-old who became the third Miss Guadeloupe to win the beauty pageant, wowed the crowds through rounds of swimsuit struts, dancing and answers on social issues.
Botino was helped on stage by her rivals at the performance hall in Marseille, as her knees kept trembling in a state of shock.
Sylvie Tellier, a former Miss France and president of the beauty pageant said;
"I had to support her, luckily there was a lot of people around"
Clémence Botino who was described as an intellectual and a ball of energy by organizers of the pageantry, insisted she would remain humble and kind.
She said;
"Beauty is intelligence. It is about putting yourself forward and knowing who you are."
Botino's win however ignited controversies and skepticism about black women winning important pageant title. Recall in the last few months, major pageant titles have been won by black women.
When Botino was crowned Miss France on Saturday, she joined a historic group of black women making history in the world of pageantry and they include; 2019 Miss World Toni-Ann Singh, 2019 Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, 2019 Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris, 2019 Miss America Nia Franklin and 2019 Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi.
However the big wins have raised concern among social media users. While some are questioning why black women are winning top titles, others are cheering black women for more wins.

Wife of Zimbabwe's vice-president, Mary Chiwenga arrested on charges of money laundering
Mary Chiwenga, wife of Zimbabwe's vice president has been arrested on charges of money laundering and externalisation of foreign currency at a time the couple is on the verge of a nasty divorce.
Mary, who has not been seen in public since her husband returned from China where he was hospitalised for over four months, was arrested by detectives from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
John Makamure, the ZACC spokesperson said he could only confirm that Marry was detained at a Harare police station as part of investigations into allegations that she was involved in money laundering.
“It’s true that Marry Chiwenga has been picked by Zacc and is assisting with investigations into allegations of money laundering and externalisation levelled against her. That is only what I can tell you” he said.
Chiwenga and his wife are said to have fallen out after the former model allegedly asked the VP to formalise their marriage when he was on his sick bed at a South African hospital.
The former army general who led the military coup that toppled long time ruler Robert Mugabe in 2017 spent the better part of this year battling for his life in hospitals in South Africa, China and India.
When he was flown to China, Mary was allegedly banned from visiting him. On his return to Harare on November 23rd she was not among those that welcomed him at the Robert Mugabe International Airport.

Former Miss Teen Great Britain who dreamed of becoming ISIS fighter is convicted of funding terrorism
former Miss Teen Great Britain who once dated a Liverpool footballer has been convicted of funding terrorism.
Amaani Noor, 21, turned to religion after splitting from a Liverpool footballer. She married a jihadi fighter online and told him it was "her dream" to join him in war-torn Syria.
She was arrested after sending $45.51 to a Paypal account linked to an Islamist group called The Merciful Hands on May 23, 2018. She denied knowing or believing that the money may be used for the purposes of terrorism. But a jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard Noor had expressed her support for "violent jihad" and Islamic State terrorists via the encrypted instant messaging service Telegram.
During the trial the court heard how Noor focused on religion after splitting with an LFC footballer, the Liverpool Echo reports. The player was not named in court but Noor has previously spoken out about her relationship with Sheyi Ojo, who is on loan at Rangers.
The jury heard Noor, from Liverpool, had been introduced to Merciful Hands by 28-year-old Victoria Webster who earlier this year pleaded guilty to funding terrorism.
Before sending the money, she received a message from Webster saying a foreign fighter needed help.
The message reads: "The father is a frontliner, and due to his circumstances and debts it’s hard to keep food on the table."
A minute after sending the money Noor messaged Webster, saying: "So will it go to a brother who is a fighter or ex fighter and has a family?."
The jury rejected Noor’s explanation that she only intended the money to be used for humanitarian aid.
Diana Wilson, prosecuting, said: "It is clear from the context that she did not think she was giving money to support Syrian government forces."
The court heard the former WAG supported Sharia Law and kept IS propaganda videos depicting terrorists torturing, executing and beheading victims on her phone.
She said she had both dreams and fears of becoming an ISIS fighter in a deleted email sent to her husband.
On the day police searched Noor’s home in July last year, she had flights booked to Turkey, the jury was told.
Giving evidence, Noor told the jury she had been planning to go and join her husband Hakim in Syria, where he said he was an independent fighter, and as their marriage continued she "wanted to be with him more".
The former performing arts student, who had a Youtube channel, said now her marriage to Hakim had ended she felt it was "stupid", "bad" and "wrong".
She added: "I don’t feel proud or happy about it."
Sentencing was adjourned after David Gottlieb, defending, asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Four Nigerian journalists have been killed in a motor accident on Airport Road, Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom state.
According to reports, the deceased journalists who all worked for the Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, the publishers of Pioneer Newspaper, were heading for a marriage ceremony of one of their colleagues when the accident happened.
A journalist who was also a passenger in the vehicle, Ituk Mbang, survived the accident and is currently receiving medical attention. According to him, the driver of the vehicle who was on speed, lost control of the vehicle while trying to negotiate a bend, causing the bus to somersault.
The remains of the deceased journalists have been deposited in a morgue.

He said that Oprah and her best friend Gale King usually create documentaries about Black men accused of sexual assault and these documentaries are usually the "death blow" that makes them "guilty till proven innocent." He pointed out they do not do this to White men who have been accused of sexual assault.
50 Cent wrote: "I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men. No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal jackson and Russell Simmons this shit is sad. Gale hit R Kelly with the death blow documentary. Every time I hear Micheal jackson I don’t know whether to dance or think about the little boys butts.These documentary’s are publicly convicting their targets, it makes them guilty till proven innocent. "
In another post, he shared a photo of powerful Black men and powerful White men who have been accused of sexual assault and have been known to be affiliated with Oprah Winfrey. Fifty pointed out that the Black men were sent to jail while the White men are still free.

50-year-old man jailed for life for raping a 19-month-old baby girl in South Africa

50-year-old man has been jailed for life for raping a 19-month-old baby girl who required corrective surgery for the injuries she sustained.
Mzingisi James Ntshontshi was jailed for life this week by Port Elizabeth high court judge Irma Schoeman for the rape on August 12, 2018.
The judge described his actions as “abhorrent, wicked and perverse” and said the ordeal had devastating consequences for the toddler.
According to testimony led during the trial, the child's mother, who worked at a bakery in St Francis Bay, had left her in the care of a woman who shared a house with in Ntshontshi. The female carer, in turn, left the child with the accused, when she went to buy alcohol at about 7am at a nearby shebeen.
Before she could return, the child was found half-clothed, bloody and bruised in the bushes about 100m away from the house by members of the community at about 4pm that day.
Humansdorp hospital's Dr. LM Mabaso, who examined the toddler, told the court that due to the severity of the injuries, she had immediately consulted with a specialist at Dora Nginza Hospital and the little girl had been rushed to Port Elizabeth for corrective surgery.
A medical report filed before sentencing described the enduring physical and psychological problems affecting the child. Her rapist was also ordered to pay for her corrective surgery from behind prison bars.
The worried mother of the child who sent her daughter away to live with family members after the incident told the court of her guilt.
“After it happened I saw her once because I separated myself from her ... when I look at her or when (a relative) sends me a picture of her, then I have the image of when she was raped,” the mother said.
