why u should stan lena furberg the best horse comic artist of all time

its so sad to think about that lena furbergs works arent very accessible outside sweden/scandinavia

she drew the lively goofy mulle comics and stuff which are cute and iconic (and the skill and artistic sense is evident in the shapes, movement, dynamics, etc!) but

THE BEAUTY.......

but not only beauty............ THE DRAMA!!!!! the excitement and everyday adventures.... the tragedies and fantasies......

and ofc mulle and the other sillies are wonderful and expressive and fun

and she does lovely stylised ones in-between the cartoony and the more realistic style too...

so pls know her name and check her work out in whatever ways you can, even tho it might be hard outside scandinavia 💔 she is literally one of sweden's most prolific comic artists yet still often unknown to average swedish comic enjoyers if they aren't horse people!!! which is crazy!!!!!!! she drew insane amounts of beautiful horse comics and art, and she inspired so many artists and fueled imagination and enjoyment for everyone who read her works.

Things I've learnt playing main story yesterday, in no particular order:

I was about 15 minutes of playtime away from freeing Linda these past six months

Even before freeing Linda I could've unlocked mistfall, the one area that I couldn't get into.

Dayblockers are 100% still a thing, and deeply annoying

When the dayblockers aren't there it's a different type of annoying, mostly in the shape of absolutely botched dialogue and also the fact the game is incapable of keeping track of where npcs are (Alex kept jumpscaring me by popping in and out of existence, notably being Right There as Linda talked abt waiting for Alex to get back)

Introduction quests to area's you can get to without doing the introduction quests are funny (Firgrove introduction). Introduction quests in the main storyline to area's that have their own standalone introduction quests are funnier (Ydris's circus)

The problem with morality in sso is that you have no option to be evil on purpose, and most evil characters are written badly enough that it's Really clear when MC is helping the bad guys by accident, making it just a Fascinatingly Dumb thing to happen (helping out Sabine kidnapping Justin, having Zero questions about giving magical five-leaf clovers (which. aren't that rare at all.) to a Literal Witch).

Mistfall is Very very pretty, I get why a lot of people put their home stable there.

Somehow the dialogue makes "experienced rider" sound like a slur to me. Maybe I am but how would you know, girl who's been locked up in a castle for six months

Ydris calling me horsewoman right before/after killing my internet connection and thus both my stream and my game, however, sounds like he knows I have a tumblr and had to get my url past the sso chat censor.

With proper approach i mean that the horse has to be in the ideal position for a jump, if they aren't they'll either jump too early or too late, potentially ending in knocking down a pole.

if you do answer one way or the other, please elaborate on if you've ridden/show jumped in the past cause i feel like this might be. niche

btw idk if i have to say this but since theres a lot of new ppl.

even if i cheer on sso being reported for their advertising to children, im not an "sso hater". im a human with nuanced thoughts and feelings. i like sso and i also dislike sso for different reasons. if u divide ppl into either "love this game and excuse all its problems" or "hate this game and shit on it even when its good" then u have a problem with black and white thinking that u should work on bc its not healthy and its really unfair to other people. its dehumanising to judge others in a black and white manner rather than understanding nuance.

and its dangerous to judge games, media or companies as either good or bad without willing to be aware to a "good" thing's flaws. it doesnt matter if u think ur only doing it in silly game fandom. if u have that tendency then its something u should think about. in the case of sso, you might have ppl defending racist character design on behalf of that they dislike criticism of the game, for example. or defending exploitative marketing tactics bc you think thats a good way to support to the company. this is dangerous.

im not a thorough fan of the hollow woods updates (not bc "change bad" but bc "game design questionable") but i gotta say it feels a little magical logging on in the evening and the first thing u see are these pretty lights in the dark

Here is the possible contest schedual for 2024

Blue is miscellaneous themed contests. Green is seasonal themed contests. Magenta is event themed contests.

The polls for what people would like this year isnt finished, but votes have pretty much stopped coming in.

There is chance for change, especially as Im not completely sure when events are going to happen. But Im thinking of having two weeks submission for the big events. If the schedule is changing because of events starts earlier or later than I thought I will inform everyone about it.

I might also just remove miscellaneous contests if it become too tight with other contests.

Sse are so funny. “We’re removing the day blocker” I mean first of all you’ve been doing that for months. Second of all babe your quest continuity is shit! Babe no your quests make no sense already! You’re telling me a game that never retroactively fixes stuff is going to remove a massive gameplay feature. When we already have a ton of “let’s wait for tomorrow” *quest starts instantly anyway cause they killed the day blocker*. What could go wrong.

What’s next the fucking reputation quests get not only nerfed but removed as well? You’re bad at your video game and you should feel bad.

#as someone who has played the game since childhood and only got lifetime as an adult #those day blockers? frustrated me as a kid but genuinely a) either got me to touch grass or b) sparked my creativity of making my own story #rather than just following the narrative #day blockers are good! especially when used effectively. #it feels like SSE don’t give a shit about continuity or fostering a creative community #also you could skip day blockers for star coins?? like fully an option #and now they’re removing that as a thing idk it feels weird

In all seriousness, I'd love if SSO dedicated an update or two a month to this sort of stuff. Maybe I'll be able to have long hair without it clipping and disappearing into my model....
