As the County seat and due to an attractive position on the river, the Town was a hot spot of travel in the early history of Tennessee and the Shepherd Inn was a stopping point for many historical figures. Though the historical masterpiece is now a work of beauty, its simple beginnings can be found incorporated in the structure of the Inn. The original cabin lies within the structure, as a reminder of things long past. In its long lifetime, the Shepherd’s Inn has served the Town as an Inn and tavern for weary travelers, an entertainment venue for musicians making the round in the first few decades of the 1900s and as a private residence." -Jefferson County Post

Apparently these places are crazy haunted! This is the Roper Mansion in downtown Dandridge, TN built in 1820. The tavern built in 1817 sits across the street.
