I get you! Yeah they tried to help him, but they just couldn't understand him.

In all of the adoption AUs there is also a gap of understanding, but they actually work to bridge it.

You know, in the Branch Toronto au, I can see Sky really fumbling in caring for branch *at first.* but also being the only pop troll guardian that actually *tries* as well. And fixes those mistakes.

Partly because this man is married to his job, but also partly because he might treat branch as any other pop troll *at first.* Since we have seen Sky being able to predict the mass’s opinions multiple times before, it may really surprise him to see he’s wrong about how branch reacts to certain things. Just unexpected for Sky. But since he’s a problem solver sort of troll he’d readjust as needed. Branch would probably have the rockiest time with trusting Sky because of these blunders over all other adopted au vers of him. But eventually actions speak louder than words.

Also, imagine an unwanted intruder snuck into the fun time factory at night & Sky shows off the factory’s security system to Branch.

I wanna clarify that Pop Trolls did try. They tried and failed and rather than readjusting tactics, they tried the same thing again harder. When that didn't work they gave up. That's where I view most of the tragedy of Branch's situation. If anyone had tried just a little harder, if one person had managed to adjust to his needs even a little, he would be in a better place. (pun intended)

Branch would absolutely have initial issues with Sky's attempts at first, but Sky to me seems like the kind of guy to know when to pull out of an investment. In business you can't get into a sunk cost fallacy trying to make something work, so best to count your losses and move on. If Sky did something that didn't work, he'd cross it off the list and move on.

Branch would love making the security system better.

How would Rock Branch react to swapping places with each of his other genre counterparts (including cannon Branch)?

Rock Branch specifically is actually fairly cool with anything other than the Pop Trolls. He would be on his worst behavior.

How do you think cannon Branch would react to his Rock, Country, Funk, Techno, and Classical counterparts?

At first I think he'd react relatively the same towards any of them. Confusion on why they look/act/talk like that, frustration, jealousy and a LOT of anger over the singing thing if this is grey Branch.

Rock, Country and Funk are likely the most compatible friendship-wise. Techno would be offputting to grey Branch and Classical would confuse and frustrate him.

what would happen if funk, techno, classical, or cannon branch were to swap bodies with rock branch?

Funk Branch: He's the one who caused it, probably, so he knows exactly what's up. I think he's admiring all of the differences between the lives he and Rock Branch are leading.

Techno Branch: He's dying, first of all. To go from cold deep sea to raging inferno? He's dying. He thinks Barb is kinda funny though, and appreciates that she would baby him while he's, yknow, busy dying of heat exhaustion.

Classical Branch: He tries to ask Barb what's going on and she thinks he got hit in the head. After that she blames Demo for infecting him with 'fancy talk'. Speaking of Demo, he'd be very happy to hear that Demo is interested in other genres. He's very overwhelmed by... Everything, but he's very touched to know that Barb is willing to help him when he gets overstimulated.

Canon Branch: He gets pretty fed up fast with everything, as well as thinking he got kidnapped (though... to be fair Rock Branch was kidnapped, that's a very vital thing that absolutely happened). He's very confused when Barb is like 'oh music issues again? Okay, let's music-proof the house.'

And you didn't ask but:

Country Branch: He's very frustrated by the seeming lack of respect to craftsmanship and people's belongings, as well as the overall work ethic. He's doing fine in the heat, though, and he can be intense when he wants to be.

How do you think Clay would react to the country trolls' saddest book "Farmer and the Hound?" I feel like the country trolls would be interested in him and his sad book club.

He'd love it, naturally, and be very interested in their other literature! I think the Country trolls would appreciate a Pop troll who enjoyed sad things and didn't dismiss the impact of a story with a "bad" ending (as in it does not end with everyone being happy or getting what they want).

Hmm, if Branch were to swap places with Poppy with the switcher ruby in your Rock Branch AU, how fast would his rock friends figure it out this time? Cuz like, Barb would know something’s up if “Branch” were to enhappify everything the Poppy way right?

I don't know if they'd ever jump to the conclusion of 'body swap' but they would figure out he's acting weird nearly immediately.

Barb is pretty fine tuned to Branch's schedules and quirks, and she would notice immediately that he's gone off track. The currency events would greatly decide what conclusion she draws from that. For example if it's the month of Trollstice, she might think he was having a trauma response. She'd pull 'Branch' aside and have a serious talk with him.

Val isn't very good at correctly deducing issues but she'd definitely notice if Branch was suddenly less hardcore and less of a nerd.

Petra tunes into it immediately like she did with Val in Trollstopia and she tries to involve 'Branch' in a bunch of classic Rock activities.

Demo notices when Branch is less enthusiastic about their shared interests of schedules, organization and the like.

Billy is a little stupid but he figures it out solely on vibes.

Ooh How would billy deal with branch having a crush/ date?

Billy doesn't want to overstep his role. He's not Branch's brother and Barb and Thrash have every right to handle things as they see fit.

That said I think Billy would hype Branch up and try to give him advice. Personally I see Billy as somewhat of the rock equivalent of a heartthrob, he has a LOT of admirers once he gets big, and he has a lot of decent dating advice.

He'd see Branch off with a wave and a 'Don't do anything I wouldn't do', while Barb adds 'And don't do anything I would do!'

how do you think the rest of the pop trolls would act to seeing a classical or techno branch? What would their reactions be?

Classical Branch: They think he's uppity and confused on how a troll who has their colors back could still be so reclusive and 'sad'. The hug thing is an issue like it is in Trollstopia and there are a lot of communication issues since I think not much of the snack pack could understand his vocabulary.

Techno Branch: Thrilled at first to see he's come around, but confused by some of his actions as well as the fact he still has some of his old mannerisms. Especially confused by his idea of a good party and the fact he still doesn't like their music. Also the traits they have in common don't negate his boundaries. They're confused on why if Branch likes singing and dancing again, why he's still adverse to hugs and other things.

Omg, there’s an episode where Val tried to get Poppy to do a very high stage dive (like sky high diving board height). Hardcore, but scary and dangerous if no one catches the diver. Of Branch somehow ended up in that situations what would happen? Like, would he feel peer pressured into doing it? Would Barb come to his rescue? Maybe angst route he decide to do the jump anyway just to see how it feels, only to drive him into a panic attack because the height reminds him of the day he fell off from the tree branch when Rosiepuff pushed him out of the way to save him from the Bergens?

The old fake Rock-nitiation! Unlike Poppy, Branch is pretty open that there are things he doesn't enjoy (such as music, moshing, crowdsurfing) so I don't see Val pulling that out.

If people did attempt to peer pressure him, I think he'd react similarly to how he did when Pop tried to pressure him, which is that he freezes up and digs his heels in. If Barb was there then Barb would absolutely come to his rescue. If Barb wasn't there, I think Petra would. Petra strikes me as a person who doesn't want people to feel pressured into doing things which is why she was so worried about Val in her episode. She was worried Val was being pressured into changing when she didn't want to.

If people were diving just for funsies and he wasn't being pressured, I can't see him wanting to join in but if for some reason he did, I think he would panic just from the danger of it alone. I could see him jumping and then grabbing back onto the board with his hair and saying he can't do it.

So remember that episode in Trollstopia where the Volcanoes in Rock Territory got clogged because of everyone throwing their guitars in there? Would Branch be the one to stop the issue because it’s a safety hazard? Cuz like, geezus they go through a lot of guitars and instruments.

So an auxiliary vent clogging actually is a planned plot line...

That leads to a bigger plot point.
