The hybrids would touch the Umi’s heads and transfer information from their brains to theirs. This is how the society was educated and learned different information. Information such as reading, math, science, language, building, etc. Art was one of the Umi’s favorite things to learn more because it was hands on. They created their own paint by the Mar worms that lived beneath the ground and mixed them with certain rocks to create different colors.
The 4 hybrids became the King of the Umi’s. The wise ones, The creative teachers of knowledge, The Umi’s worshiped the hybrids and thought of them as God’s. They ruled over Mars and each one of the hybrids had specific duties and responsibilities. Hybrid # 1 was named Ju. Ju was over teaching the Umi’s information to make them smarter. Hybrid #2 was named SeaWa and SeaWa was over criminals. He was a kind creature and didn’t believe in imprisonments. He would deal with criminals by putting his hand on their heads to remove knowledge as punishment and replace it with new knowledge to make them a better Umi. Hybrid #3 was named Qu Que was over laws making sure that everyone on Mars followed these laws. He was also known as the judges and would determine if information should be taken from them and send them to SeaWa to replace knowledge. Hybrid #4 was named Kyi Kyi was over Traits he would separate the Umi’s into different categories such as the doctor, building, food, policeman, ect. Once each Umi was old enough to have a job he would put them in a category that Kyi felt they would fit in and send them to Ju to teach the Umi the knowledge of the trait.

Climate change. Globally known as burning fossil fuels which add heat-trapping gases to Earth’s atmosphere.
Six people were chosen by the government to live on Mars at a Safe Base constructed by NASA. NASA had created a plan called the Mission. The mission was for 6 humans to raise a hybrid alien until adult hood and teach them what the humans knew so that the hybrid alien could then teach aliens on Mars and humanity could be continued. Nobody on Earth was notified but in just 12 Sacred hours Earth would Explode and become nothing more then a floating star. Only if we had just taken better care of our planet. What could we have become.
16 months prior to the Earths explosion NASA had captured a alien that lived on Mars. This alien stood 8 ft tall, was a color that had never been discovered by the human eye, but if I had to say it would look similar to purplish blue. They had two eyes in the front that almost took up the aliens entire face and two very small eyes in the back of their head. They stood on two legs, had four arms and had a total of 26 gills located in different areas of the body which helped them breath. They had no nose and a very large mouth with no teeth only green gumms. NASA needed an emergency plan to keep humanity going after Earths explosion. The plan was to inject human DNA into the alien in hopes that the alien would then become pregnant with a baby half human half alien and could then sustain life on Mars. Basically a hybrid. The project was a success and the alien was transferred along with the 6 chosen humans back to Mars to the Safe Base. The mission was for the 6 humans to raise the baby because once the alien gave birth it would die. When the hybrid was born it was a shock to the 6 chosen humans because not one baby was born but 4.
The hybrid baby aliens grew 10X faster then humans after 7 months they were full grown and had been taught and educated by the 6 humans. The goal was to let the hybrids join the rest of the normal aliens that lived on Mars in hopes that they would teach them the humans way of living so that they could incorporate it with their daily lives. When the Safe Base doors were opened to let the 4 hybrids join the aliens that lived on Mars it was a beautiful sight the aliens and the hybrids could connect and talk without even speaking a word. They began walking towards each other and touched each other’s hands the 4 hybrids turned and looked at the humans knowing what mission they had to complete and gave them a farewell head nod and walked off into the darkness with the aliens. Because the 6 humans mission was complete they took off the space suits, immediately froze and broke into a million little pieces and floated into the galaxy above them. They did this because humans could not sustain Mars so death was inevitable.

”If you buy flowers and put them in a vase they will eventually die. But if you plant them and give them sunlight and water they will grow and flourish.” Treat your soul like a wild flower. Let it explore and face the waves of this world. Mistakes will happen along the way but don’t be afraid. Perfection doesn’t happen without imperfection.
Change can be scary but it can also be beautiful. Beautiful like the flower that was planted and had the chance to evolve into something much more.
Don’t be the flower that’s still stuck in the vase. Eventually your soul will crumble to the bottom and evaporate with the water.

In Remembrance of the Old Me.
I told myself I wouldn’t cry over you.
Even though the pain you caused upon me has been greater then any other pain that has ever been afflicted on me.
The pain cut deep into my soul and started fucking with my mind.
I can hear the screams of my inner thoughts.
The screams scare me.
Especially at night when I lay my head down on my pillow waiting and wanting for my conscious to dream of a place far away where love doesn’t hurt and being alone isn’t so lonely.
But my pillow doesnt collect dreams, it only collects the ringing from my ears and the tears from the bed of my eyes that I finally let fall late at night when no one can hear me.
Instead of falling into a deep slumber I lay in my bed and listen to the cars speeding down my street. I listen to crickets playing songs to each other and the whispers of my tears as they roll down my cheeks.
How could you say that you loved me but in reality love to you is like a hot day in winter.
It doesn’t exist.
You have no love for me.
Maybe you don’t have love for anyone, and in a weird way I’m okay with that because at least that shows me that I’m not missing out on anything special.
I thought that I could at least fix you.
That could help you be a better person because I know that life has been hard for you.
And how did you repay me?
You stabbed me with the same knife that I helped wedge out of your heart.
Instead of fixing you, I only gave you the confidence to break me.
And I will never get the women I once was back.
She’s gone.
She died and melted onto the floor then evaporated into the sky.
I don’t even know how to look for her even if I wanted to.
6 months later. September 19th 1986
It’s pretty outside today.
The sun is shining bright and sending rays to kiss my cheeks to brighten them up a bit.
A small breeze passes by me and pushes my hair back and forth on my shoulders reminding me that I got through the darkness and defeated what I once thought was impossible.
Birds are dancing in the trees and singing lullabies to their babies letting me know that love still does exist.
Happiness was hard to find when you hurt me. But I found it.
I found it in me.
Sometimes a heart just needs time to heal.
It needs time to realize how valuable you are.
I now know that I can’t risk my happiness in hopes of fixing someone else’s.
Because it can leave me damaged.
I’m thankful that I found the strength to fight against the demons you sent to haunt me.
I’m even more thankful that I won.
You hurting me helped me realize how indestructible I really am.
You are a memory that I won’t miss but that I will always remember.
You are a lesson learned.
Also, I don’t take loosing the old me as a loss but a memory of how strong I really am.
That whatever comes my way I can and will conquer it.
I’m a new me now, ready to defend my heart but not afraid to open it up a little bit.
It showed me that I’m not easily broken.
That I am a survivor of broken love. And that any other battles I might face I will not come out a victim but victorious.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people on my timeline who feel depressed. They feel like a rain cloud has stopped over them and let out a cry so loud that they can’t even hear themselves think. They feel like the road they have been traveling along seems like it gets longer and longer with nothing good that comes of the destinations they have stopped at. I’m here to remind you that when you buy flowers and put them in a vase they eventually die. But if you plant them they will grow. They will become beautiful and they will prosper. Remember you are that flower take care of your mind body and soul. Remember that you are beautiful and you too will prosper. Sometimes rain can help grow the most beautiful flowers.

I read a post on Facebook once that said “Some people are born to give more love then they will ever get back in return.” Its true you know. But Giving is better then receiving. You love endlessly and never questioning how much love others give out. See when you give you get to see the smile on their faces and the hope within their eyes. You get to see the door you opened for them that says hey it’s okay to love a little, to care a little, and to give a little. It’s okay to open your heart up and show the world how it beats. To show the world that humanity still walks amongst us. And see the thing about giving is that you never look back and think what did you get in return. Because the love and joy you gave someone else is priceless and overwhelming. Sometimes too overwhelming for them to say thank you. But just know that you did the right thing. When you show someone love you always did the right thing. And maybe just maybe with you walking around spreading love like it’s a wild fire then others will learn from how you loved them and pass it on to someone else who may not have enough love to give at the moment. So never think about how you love more than others just love endlessly.

I looked ahead of me at Damien, “Hey y’all wait up for me, imma be right back I left my phone!” I turned around and took off running back to towards the stadium. In the background I could hear Damien scream “Hurry up fool, my Mom impatient!”
As I was running I noticed that there were cops speeding down the street and 2 more parked in the stadium parking lot.
Once I got closer to the parking lot I realized that
One cop was standing outside of his vehicle staring my way. “I don’t want no one to get hurt put your hands in the air!!!” He quickly drew his gun towards my direction. I stopped and froze in fear that I had just come between a cop and a criminal. With adrenaline running through my body I quickly turned around and started running to seek refuge with my friends.
CLACK! CLACK! a loud abrupt sound pierced the night sky.
“ARGHHHH!!!!”
I felt a stricking pain in my back the suddenly a fire sensation rushed through my whole body. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground. Blood filled my mouth and slowly exited the creases of my lips then spilled onto the concrete floor.
I wanted to scream for help but I felt weak, numbness over took my movements and darkness began to blind me. I heard footsteps running towards me “You shot him!!!!”
My heart thumped at each footstep I head hit the floor. Then each beat of my heart slowed at its pace and my consciousness began dwindling away.
Three days later-
It’s raining, and in the background is a soft violin playing. Everyone is standing with there heads down and black umbrellas over their heads. Thunder is joining in with the soft whimpering throughout the crowd.
Damien My thoughts began stuffing my brain the sorrow. I missed Ty like crazy. I honestly felt like he would be okay. I never expected for everything to end so tragic. Ty was my best friend, my team mate, my brother. I always seen us growing up together and being dads together. Having him as a best man at my wedding. But unfortunately Tyler’s life came to a tragic abrupt stop from a senseless shooting of a local police officer. I guess if your black your a target now. But how can a innocent kid running by a stadium look suspicious? My thoughts got interrupted by the preacher.
“We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Tyler Lee Carson. He wasn’t only a son. He was a brother, a nephew, and a friend. Although his life came to a tragic end I want us all to remember that in heaven he is at peace.”
After the preacher’s introduction he requested that everyone say a prayer with him.
One by one each of Tyler’s friends and family walked by his casket to put a single rose by his body before he was lifted into the earth.
Tyler’s Mom walked to her son and placed her hand on his hand. She gently caressed each finger slowly. The fingers that she had held when he was a baby. The fingers she had cleaned when they were messy. The fingers that had gripped her back firmly when he hugged her. Her hand stopped on Tyler’s middle finger and tear drops fell from her cheeks onto the caller of her black dress. She rubbed her finger over her late husbands ring that she had just got resized for Tyler. She fell on one knee and let out an uncontrollable wail. Constance ran over to her Mom. “Don’t cry Mommy...” She hugged her Mom and tears swelled up in her eyes.
After gaining composure Mrs. Carson stood up and grabbed Constance by the hand as they went back to their place in the crowd.
Soon it was time to lower Tyler into the ground each inch closer that he got into his final resting place you could her the whimpers of Tyler’s Mom getting louder and louder.
As I was looking around at everyone at Tyler’s funeral I couldn’t help but to feel angry that we all had to feel so much pain and hurt. Tyler was a good kid, and loved his family. He was goofy and caring. He played sports and made good grades. He was an amazing big brother and always a good friend. And now he is gone.

I walked back into my room. “Hey Damien, when ya Mom comin?”
He set the controller down next to him then picked up his phone and looked through his messages. “Oh she on the way.”
“Alright.” I walked to the closet then slipped my polo shirt off and put my black t-shirt on, then glanced in the mirror to make sure it looked decent with the jeans I already had on. When I was satisfied with my reflection, I grabbed my sneakers off the floor and put them on.
Damien looked over at me. “She’s outside.” He stood up and grabbed his backpack off my bed. “Imma be in the car, and hurry up you know my Momma inpatient.” He took off towards the stairs.
I laughed as I walked over to my dresser. “Alright I’m almost through.”
I pulled out my sock drawer and pulled out a small black box. I lifted the lid and took out $60 then whispered to myself. “See what happens when you save your money Ty, it comes in handy.” I smirked at my smart thinking and slipped the $60 in my wallet then went down stairs.
When I entered the living room Constance and Miss Cassie were sitting on the couch watching their movie. The smell of popcorn filled the air. “See y’all later!” I waved at them.
“Okay Damien See ya!” Cassie waved back. Constance didn’t say anything, Her eyes were glued to the tv and she was smacking on her bowl of buttery popcorn. I guess she got the movie she wanted after all.
I walked to Damien’s Moms car and hopped in. “Hey Mrs.Williams.” I looked at her to check her expressions.
She looked at me through the mirror and smiled “Hey Ty!”
I smiled back relieved that she didn’t think I took too long.
“So your Momma said that Damien can stay the night?” She looked at me in the back seat.
“Yes ma’am.” I looked at her reassuringly.
“Okay. Well Damien said your Momma wanted y’all home by 9:30 so I will be at the library across the street from the stadium at exactly 9:15.” She popped her eyes out and looked at me then at Damien letting us know she was serious and ain’t wanna have to wait.
“Yes ma’am.” Damien and I both replied at the same time.
Bzzzzt. My phone vibrated.
ALICIA- “I’m here already. I’m by the flag post where they sell T-shirt’s.”
ME- “Okay, bet see you soon.”
ALICIA- “ :) “
ME- “ :)”
When we pulled up I immediately jumped out. I took off walking towards the gate to buy my ticket while Damien stayed behind getting a private lecture from his Mom.
I walked up to the front gate. “One ticket please.”
The security guard unrolled her roll of tickets and ripped one off. “That’s $5.00.”
I pulled out my wallet and gave her the exact amount. “Here you go.”
She took the money and handed me the ticket. “Enjoy the game.”
I smiled. “Thanks.”
I walked off and looked towards the flag post. There she was. Looking amazing! “How did I get so lucky?” I said to myself.
When I got to the flag post Alicia was talking to one of the girls selling T-shirt’s. I walked up and tapped her shoulder. She turned around and smiled big. “Hey Ty!”
“Hey, you look beautiful.” She had glitter on her eye lids and one black stripe on each cheek.
She grinned shyly. “Thanks you don’t look too bad yourself.”
“Hey where is Damien?” Rebecca interrupted our conversation.
“Oh he should be getting his ticket.” I pointed towards the front gate.
Rebecca turned and looked towards the front gate and seen Damien buying his ticket from the securityguard. “Alright Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
Alicia grabbed my arm. “Let’s go catch up with Damien and Rebecca so we can find our seats.”
I nodded my head. “Good idea.”
We began walking to Damien and Rebecca.
“Let’s go meet up with Jason, he is sitting in section F.” Damien looked his eyes around at the different sections on the bleachers. “There it is.”
He pointed his finger at the F sign and we all began heading towards the bleachers.
Rebecca was standing behind Damien she put both her hands on his shoulders. “Carry me.”
He stopped and knelt down and she jumped on.
I looked down at Alicia. “You wanna be carried too?”
She stopped and put her hand on her hip “Only if you strong enough.”
I knelt down. “Girl I’m BEASTY!” She jumped on my back and we followed Damien and Rebecca up the bleachers to section F.
“Ayy there is Jason right there!” I pointed towards the top of the bleachers.
“Oh okay I see him.” Damien exclaimed. He gently put Rebecca down and they began climbing the steps up to Jason.
See I wanted to act stronger than I was so I chose to keep Alicia on my back. I shouldn’t of done this because deep in my heart of hearts I knew Damien was stronger than me. I’d never admit it though. As we climbed up the stairs to get to the top of the bleachers. But after like 10 steps my knees started buckling and my thighs were on fire. I didn’t want Alicia to know I wasn’t as beasty as I said earlier so I lied. “Ohh My wallet feels like it’s falling out my back pocket.”
Alicia jumped off my back. And looked down at my wallet perfectly secured in my pocket. “And you said you were beasty ha boy pleaseeeee.” She flipped her hair and passed me up the stairs. I laughed awkwardly and thought to myself. “Damn I need to stop missin leg day!”
We all got comfortable in our seats. I scooted close to Alicia and put my arm around her. “Want some gum?”
She looked up at me and raised one eyebrow. “Don’t think imma kiss you cuz my breath fresh.”
I smirked and pulled the gum out of my pants pocket. “I’m only offering you a piece cuz I smelt yo breath on the back of my neck when I was carrying you!”
Alicia gasped and slapped me on my leg. “Shut up with ya weak ass!”
We both laughed and focused our attention back on the rest of the group.
Damien was sitting by Jason showing him a YouTube video of some boxing match. Rebecca wasn’t with him so I assumed she went on the field to join her cheerleading group.
Alicia gently pushed her elbow on my side. “Hey I haven’t seen Carla. I wonder if she ended up coming to the game with my homeboy.”
I turned my head around and looked towards the top of the bleachers. “Oh there they go over there.”
Alicia looked behind her and giggled Carla and Alicia’s friend DJ were cuddled up like they had known each other for years. “I guess I played Cupid huh Ty?”
“Mmmmhum, I guess you did.”
The game was a success The Eagles of Kingston High did their thang!!!!!! It was 2-22 they didn’t have nothing on our football team!
I was happy that the night was going so well!Conversation with Alicia went smoothly and thankfully Rebecca was so busy cheering she didnt have enough time to focus to see if she was getting enough attention from Damien.
My friend Carlos killed his performance with the band and Carla got a date and didn’t feel like the third wheel.
Around 8:15pm when the game was over we all hung out in front of the stadium for a little while until it got closer to meet Damien’s Mom at the public library.
“I had a good time tonight Ty.” Alicia looked up and smiled.
I looked down at Alicia and smiled back “me too.”
“Whatcha gon’ do later tonight?”
“Nothing really, Carlos ad Damien are coming over to play some video games.”
Alicia smirked. “You boys and those games.” She rolled her eyes and put the L sign up with her hand “LOSERSSSS.”
“You talkin about me what you got planned tonight?”
“Carla invited me to come hang out at her house with Rebecca and her, I figured maybe later tonight we could all hang out?”
I thought about it for a second because I know I couldn’t go anywhere, especially since I’d be watching my sister. And I know my Momma would trip if she knew I had girls over at the house. I concocted a quick plan. I could put Constance to sleep when I got home then we could all just hang in the back yard by the pool until about 11:00 since my Momma don’t get off until 2am.
“Yeah I’m down! Why don’t y’all come over to my house? I got a pool in the back yard and we can all just swim for a little bit until like 11?
“Okay I will let the girls know and see what they think.”
She gently grabbed my hand. I grabbed hers back.
“If you thinking about kissin me, I’m giving you permission.” She fluttered her long eyelashes up and down.
I had never kissed a girl before. I mean I had kissed a girl in 2nd grade but I don’t think that counted. I closed my eyes and went in to kiss her. My heart was pounding inside my chest. Our lips gently touched then we both opened our eyes and smiled at each other.
“Ohhhhhhh shittttt I seeeen that!!!” Damien screamed out as he pointed at us.
I looked behind me and gave Damien that look like, if you don’t shut the hell up! Rebecca and Carlos started laughing uncontrollably.
I focused my attention back on Alicia. “Sorry, he’s dumb.”
She giggled and shrugged her shoulders. “That boy don’t bother me, he’s childish.”
I raised one eyebrow, “So I guess our first date was a slam dunk huh?”
She shook her head up and down “Yes it was!”
I quickly looked down at my watch and looked at the time, forgetting that we were on a time schedule. It read 9:09pm my eyes popped outta my head. I looked at Alicia, “Hey we gotta go Damien’s Mom is supposed to be meeting us at the library in 5 minutes and I lost track of time.”
“Okay well I can walk with you.”
“Are you sure?”
“Duh, fool. If I couldn’t I wouldn’t of offered.”
We both laughed. I grabbed her hand and we walked towards Damien and Rebecca. “Hey bro your Mom is about to be at the library in 5 minutes.”
Damien shot his eyes at me. “Dang already?! Times been flying!”
Carlos stood there with his hands in his pockets. “Hey I’m gonna meet y’all later on tonight around 10:00.”
I nodded my head at him “Alright bro catch you later.” We did a quick fist pump and he headed off towards the rest of the band chilling in the parking lot.
Damien, Rebecca, me and Alicia started walking to the library.
“Your Momma don’t care that you have girls over?”
I looked at Alicia like she asked a silly question, but I knew that my Momma had a strict rules about girls over. “Haha nah she’s cool.”
Alicia nodded in reassurance that everything was good.
As a matter of fact I was kinda shocked that all night my Momma hadn’t texted me. I dug in my pockets for my phone. I didn’t feel it. I stopped suddenly and began feeling around in all my jeans pockets. No phone. I finally realized that I had set it down on the bleachers while we were watching the game.
“What you looking for?”
“My phone I think I left it at the bleachers.”
“Well you better hurry up and go get it before someone takes it.” She pointed her finger back towards the stadium.

The end
The rest of the school day was long and dreadful. When the last school bell rang the hallways were filled with eager kids looking forward to the homecoming game and then an eventful weekend of relaxation and hanging with friends.
Damien had decided to walk Rebecca home so I rode the bus alone. When I got off the bus I walked down the street to my house bobbing my head to my favorite song and moving my arms and feet to the beat. When I reached my front porch our neighbor Mrs.Stafford waved me down as she checked her mailbox. “Hey Ty, can you come here for a second I have a question for you.”
I jogged over in her direction. “Yes ma’am?”
“I’m going to be doing some major house cleaning and I needed help moving furniture and stuff, do you mind coming over Sunday and helping me out?”
“Yeah that’s no problem, what time?” I never minded helping out Mrs.Stafford with whatever she needed. We had been neighbors for years now and she basically seen me grow up. Not to mention when I was younger I had been diagnosed with bone cancer and she stepped in to watch my little sister while my Mom stayed with me in the hospital. Her husband Earl was actually the one who donated his bone marrow to me. It saved my life.
“Um maybe like eleven? I want to start moving around before it gets too hot. My air conditioner ain’t been working right.”
“Okay, that’s fine Mrs. Stafford sounds like a plan.”
She smiled as she looked at me. “Let me see them beautiful teeth boy!”
I smiled real big at her. “How you been, Mrs.Stafford?”
“I’ve been good, just you know trying to find stuff to do. Ever since I retired and Earl died it’s like my mind can’t sit still for 5 minuets, let’s not worry about me. How you been son?”
I patted myself down. “As you can see I look good and I’ve been doin good!”
She laughed. “Okay well you have a good rest of the day. I’m gonna fix you something sweet for helpin me out na.”
“Awe thanks Mrs. Stafford!” I waved goodbye and ran through my yard to the front porch.
I took my backpack off and dug around in my backpack to fetch my house key.
Bzzzzzt. My phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and checked my messages.
MOM- “can you get your sister from the bus stop she should be here any minute. I’m trying to get ready for work.”
ME-Gottcha
I put my house key back into my backpack and set it down on the floor then hopped down the stairs and headed towards my sisters bus stop.
When my sisters bus arrived she darted off and ran towards me. “Tyyyyy!” It was almost hard for her to say my name because she had a big red lollipop hanging out her mouth.
“Hey knucklehead.” I ruffled my knuckles on the top of her head.
“Stooooop ya big meanie head!” She looked at me and pouted her lips then crossed her arms together forcefully.
I laughed and knelt down on one knee. “Can I make it up to you by a piggie back ride by the piggie back master!”
She jumped in the air and climbed on my back with excitement. “Yayyyyyy!!!”
I stood up and grabbed her legs to make sure she didn’t fall. “So how was school today?”
“It was good, Mrs.G gave me a lollipop for being good in school today.” She took her candy out of her mouth and looked at it with appreciation.
“Oh really?”
“Yep and I didn’t get my clip moved down NOT ONCE!” She threw one finger in the air.
“That’s good!”
When we got to the house I set Constance down on the porch and went for my backpack. “What tha?”
I spun my neck around looking down at the porch. “I left my backpack right here.”
“Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!”
Constance and I jumped back. “Man don’t be scaring us like that!” I yanked my backpack out of Damien’s hand.
Damien laughed hard holding his stomach “Awe what happened bro, you peed on yourself.”
I rolled my eyes then unlocked the front door and then pushed it open. “Nah but I almost knocked the shit outta you.”
“LANGUAGE!” My Mom peeked out from the closet in the hallway.
“My bad.” I looked at my Mom shocked that she was even down stairs.
“Moooom Damien scared us!” Constance was eager to get someone in trouble. When she realized my Mom wasn’t gonna give in to her tattle tell she looked up at Damien and growled then bucked at him.
He put his hands in front of him and started walking backwards. “I don’t want no problems.” Then he quickly spun around and took off upstairs.
“Constance I made you some lunch it’s right here.” My Mom patted her hand on the kitchen table.
“Thanks Momma.” Constance skipped her way to the table and sat down.
“Ty the baby sitter will be here at 5 o’clock make sure you listen for the door.”
I leaned against the kitchen counter because I knew she was gonna give me a whole speech.
“I’m serious Ty don’t get caught up in that game upstairs that you loose track of time. Also make sure to keep an eye out for your sister, and BE HOME BY 9:30 No later.”
I shook my head. “Okay Ma I got this.”
My Mom looked at me and smiled. “But most importantly have a good time tonight, I know you been working hard on your grades and helping a lot with your sister. Don’t think I don’t notice. Your a good kid and I don’t want you to ever think I take that for granted.” She reached in her purse and pulled out a ring and held it in the palm of her hand. “I got this resized for you.”
I looked down with my eyes wide open. “Momma...”
This was my father’s wedding ring. He had died two years ago in a car accident. So this gift meant a lot to me.
“Yeah I know I said I’d give it to you on graduation but you know I ain’t no good at keeping secrets. I even got your name engraved in the inside. See” she twisted the ring with her index finger and thumb to show me the inside.
She reached out and softly placed the ring in my hand. “Don’t Chu loose it.”
A tear ran down my cheek onto my shirt. “I won’t Momma...” I slipped the ring on my finger, and leaned into her. She put both arms around me and said “I love you son.”
“I love you too Momma, thank you.” We hugged for a minute until Constance busted between us. “Hey I want some lovin’.”
We both smiled and Momma leaned down and firmly hugged Constance.
She straightened her back, back up and placed both her hands on my shoulders. “Be good tonight. And no house parties.” She pointed her finger in my face.
“You know you ain’t gotta worry Ma.”
She smiled then fixed her purse back onto her shoulder. “I know.”
We both smiled at each other then she headed out the front door.
I looked over at my sister. “Constance I’m about to go up stairs with Damien wanna come?”
“But Momma said I can only eat at the table.” She looked up at me with her big eyes.
I put my finger up to my lips. “I’m in charge, so I’m givin you permission. But don’t go tellin Momma or I won’t let you do it no more.”
Constance smiled and rushed her plate off the table.
When we went upstairs and walked in my room Damien was sitting on floor at the end of my bed playing the game. “What level you on?”
“Four, What took you so long?” He handled the controller forcefully.
I sat next to him in my game chair. “Remember I was tellin you about my Dads ring?”
“Yeah, the one you are getting for graduation?” He tried hard to concentrate on the game and our conversation at the same time.
“Yeah that one. Well my Mom gave it to me early.” I took off the ring to show him my name engraved in the inside.
He paused the game and stretched his neck towards me. “Sweet Bro!”
“Ty I’m bored!” Constance interrupted us.
“Go get you some toys and you can play with them in here.” She jumped off my bed with excitement and took off down the hall to her bedroom.
Bzzzzt. I pulled my phone out my pocket.
ALICIA- “Call me?”
ME- “ok :)”
I laid on my bed and pushed my shoes off with each foot. I grabbed my phone and pressed Alicia’s name.
Ring Ring Ring
“Hello?”
“Hey Alicia, you wanted me to call you?”
“Yeah, I wanted to see what you plan on wearing for homecoming?”
I was so confused. Do people actually change just to go to a football game? “Um, I’m not sure yet. Why what’s up?”
“Well I wanted to go matching. Do you have a black shirt?”
I bounced off my bed then went to my closet to look.
“Uhhhh, yeah.” I knew I had a black shirt but wasn’t sure if it was clean or not.
“Okay can you wear that and some jeans?”
“Sure.”
“Okay cool! See you at the game.”
“Okay see ya later.”
“Bye.”
Click.
“Ty the doorbell is ringing!” Constance screamed as loud as she could from only one room down.
I looked down at my watch. “Dang it’s already 5 o’clock!” I got up and took off down stairs to open the door.
I looked through the peep hole and seen the babysitter Mrs.Cassie. “Hey Miss Cassie.”
“Hey Tyler.” She walked inside and set her sweater on the kitchen chair. “You about to head out for the game?”
“Yeah. In about 10 minutes.”
She walked over to the bar and set her keys down. “Where’s Constance?”
“Oh she’s up stairs in her room.” I headed for the stairs. “I’ll go get her.”
“Okay thanks, tell her I rented us a movie.”
“Okay!” I jotted up the stairs and walked into Constance room. “Hey Miss Cassie is here she rented y’all a movie and wants you to come down and watch it with her.”
Constance put her hands up to her mouth with excitement. “Is it Barbie Enchantment?!”
“I dunnno you gotta go down stairs and see.”
She jumped up from her toy box then went to leave her room but did a double take to grab her favorite doll.

Test
Bzzzzt.
My phone vibrated.
I clicked on the home button and went to my text messages. Eagerly awaiting Alicia’s response.
MOM- Don’t forget 9:30!
I rolled my eyes. And texted back.
ME- Ok Mom gottcha 👍🏿
“Ok class quiet down, today we will be doing complicated fractions I know it’s Friday and every one is excited about tonight but I need all of my students undivided attention.” Mr.Beckom tapped his ruler on the chalk board at the days lesson.
Everyones voices slimmered down into silence.
Bzzzzt.
I looked down at my phone.
ALICIA- “Duh! Why you ask?”
I pointed my eyes up at Mr.Beckom to see if the coast was clear to message back.
When I looked up, Mr.Beckoms eyes were directly on me. He pointed his finger at my backpack and then pointed it to the floor.
I let out a sigh and grabbed my phone and placed it in my pocket and slid my backpack onto the floor.
Bzzzzzt!
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Oh the temptation!
After 1 1/2 hours of complicated fractions finally the bell rang.
Brrrring! Brrrring! Brrrring!
I immediately grabbed my phone out of my pocket, stood up and swung my bag over my shoulder and headed towards the door.
I pulled up my messages.
ALICIA- “Sit with me at lunch?”
I quickly messaged back.
ME- “Sorry Mr.Beckom was watching my every move, yeah I will meet you by the vending machines?”
Bzzzzt.
ALICIA- “ok see you in a bit :)”
I couldn’t help but to smile when I seen her message. Alicia was some work of art. She had the perfect combination of melanin. Soft and silky hair always done just right. Her eyes were almond shaped with the perfect color of mocha dashed into each pupil. She had a beautiful big smile, and a voice that was that of an angels. Alicia and I had known each other since we were in elementary. We went to bible school together and She also sung in the choir at church, but I hadn’t seen her there in a while.
As I waited for Alicia at the lunch hall, I scanned through the options in the vending machine.
I saw a .50 cent pack of gum and rubbed my hands together “Better safe then sorry.” I could still taste the bitterness of my morning orange juice.
I grabbed two quarters out the side of my backpack and pushed them into the vending machine. When the gum fell to bottom, I put my hand into the machine and snatched out my pack of gum.
Tearing off the wrapping paper I slipped one into my mouth and turned around to throw the paper in the trash. Then cupped my hands up to my face and puffed out a large breath. “Yep fresh as a muggg.” I whispered to myself.
I slipped my one foot behind me and spun around on my heel.
“Hey loser.” Alicia was right behind me with her hand on her hip and her eyes darting at mine.
“Hey, girl don’t be walking up on me like that.” I said smirking but also startled that she could of been watching me the whole time.
She giggled and her dimples dug into her cheeks
“So what you wanna eat for lunch?
“I dunnno maybe some cheese frys.” She pointed towards the concession stand.
“Alright me too.” I said as we began walking towards the other side of the cafeteria.
“So I don’t see you at church no more.”
“Yeah my Mom’s new boyfriend goes to a church across town so we been checkin that one out for a while.”
“That’s what’s up, you know we need you back the choir ain’t what it use to be since you left.”
She giggled with embarrassment and slapped me on my arm with the back of her hand.
“Oh shut up Ty don’t try to flatter me. Okay.”
We grinned at each other and got in the line at the concession stand.
Alicia’s face turned towards a table in the corner of the lunch room where her ex Harper was sitting.
I tapped her on the forearm. “You good?”
“Yeah, I just can’t stand him.” An angry expression creased her forehead.
“If you don’t mind me askin what happened?”
She rolled her eyes and focused her attention back on the line. “He likes to party and I’m not into that kinda stuff. So he supposedly got bored with me and cheated at a house party with my ex best friend Jen. “You See.” she pointed her eyes towards the tabel and I seen Jen sitting on Harper’s lap.
Harper ran track and was pretty popular around school. He was tall dark and handsome. It kinda intimidated me because why would she talk to me when she had someone like that before. I did have a caring nature though and hopefully that attracted her more than looks. I pushed my insecurities down and said “Your too good for him anyways. And her.”
She smiled back and put one arm out and hugged my arm. “Thanks Ty.”
“NEXT” the lunch lady was looking at us to hurry and tell her what we wanted.
I walked up to the counter. “Sorry, um can we get two orders of cheese fries?”
“That will be $6.50.” She put her worn hand out awaiting my money.
I pulled my wallet out of my back pocket and pulled out $20.00
Alicia looked at me and put her hand on my wallet. “Oh you don’t have to pay for mine.”
I smiled big letting all my teeth show “I’m a gentleman, and gentleman never make the lady pay.”
She put her hand back down and smiled big back at me. “Thank you.”
The lunch lady set the cheese frys on the counter.
I put the $20 dollars in her hand and said “Keep the change.” The lunch lady looked at me with regret of her attitude and said “Thank you.” I looked down at the lunch ladys name badge. “Your welcome Mrs.Green, have a good rest of the day. We grabbed our fries and walked off.
I handed Alicia her cheese frys. She had a surprised look on her face. “That was so nice of you.” I shrugged my shoulders and said “Everyone has bad days.”
We finally made it to the table, and sat down next to Damien, Rebecca, and Carla.
“Sup bro.” Damien nodded his head towards me
“Sup.” I nodded my head back.
Rebecca looked at Alicia and I and said “Oh so y’all going to homecoming together? I knew it was only a matter of time before y’all became Boyfriendddd and gurllllfriendddd.”My face immediately turned hot and my cheeks lightened a bit.
Damien choked on his chocolate milk and turned his head towards Rebecca trying to fight back his laughs.
Alicia looked up and scooted up in her seat then straightened her back out. “Actually yes. We are dating and he is also going to be homecoming date.”
She looked down at her frys and picked one up then swirled it in the cheese and non challantly took a bite.
My eyes shot at Alicia surprised that she basically just asked me to be her boyfriend. “Got a problem Ty.” She said under her breath.
I raised my eyebrow and grinned at her. “Nope.” Then I grabbed a French fry off my plate and tossed it in my mouth.
Carla slapped her hands on the table. “So I guess I’m the only one without a date now?”
We all laughed as we looked at Carla.
Carla was a mixed chick with large kinky hair and gray eyes. She talked with attitude but was sweet when you got to know her.
Alicia looked down the table at Carla. “Welllll I do have a friend who doesn’t have a date for homecoming. And he is super nice.”
Carla looked at her unsure if it was a setup.
“Gurl he betta not have no crazzzzy ex cuz it ain’t even that serious.”
Alicia giggled and said “Nah girl he been single for a while and he just want a pretty girl on his arm for homecoming. And of course someone with good conversation.”
Carla blushed, flattered at Alicia’s comment. “Well what does he look like?” She reached out and grabbed her sprite inspecting the top before she opened it, trying to act uninterested in the conversation but we could all see that she was serious about being the only one without a date.
Alicia pulled out her phone and set it on the table. She quickly went to her Facebook and pulled up the boys page then slid it down the table to Carla. “That’s him.” Alicia placed her elbow on the table and set her head in her hand watching on Carla’s reaction.
Carla reached over and picked up the phone and zoomed in on the picture. “Alright he cute or whatever, but he gotta ask me to go homecoming with him. What I look like askin a boy.” She slid the phone back down to Alicia.
Rebecca laughed and stood up. “While y’all are playing match maker imma run to the restroom.”
Damien nodded his head at Rebecca.
“Okay I will message him now and see what he says. “Alicia picked up her phone and went to his name in her contacts.
“Girl let me come sit by you.” Carla lifted her tray and went to sit on the other side of Alicia.
I scooted down a couple of seats trying to get away from girl talk. I sat directly in front of Damien and changed the subject drifting my attention to more manly things.
“So Carlos is coming over tonight to get on that Titan City with us.”
Damien took a bite of his pizza and talked out the side of his full mouth. “Cool, now I got two people to whoop.”
Damien could be cocky when he wanted to.
Brrring! Brrring! Brrrring!
We all stood up with the exception of Damien to head back for our next period.
“I’m gonna wait on Rebecca.” Damien said as he took another large bite of his pizza.
“Alright.” I said as I looked back at him, then turned my attention to Alicia. “So did you get her a date for homecoming?”
“Yeah she’s going to meet up with him by the gym now.” Alicia pointed towards Carla power walking through the crowed cafeteria to get to the hallway.
We both chuckled.
“Mind if I walk you to class?” I looked down at Alicia unsure if she would want to be seen as a couple in the school hallways so soon since we had just made it official.
“Sure!” Alicia walked closely by me.
“So were you for real about what you said at lunch.” I looked at her through the corner of my eye, nervous at her response.
She walked with her head held high. “Of course, I only say things I mean.”
My heart pounded out of my chest. My friend zone days are over. I guess my freshly greased hair, good smellin cologne, and that fresh gum I popped in my mouth really did the trick. And let’s not forget my noticeable charm.
As I was walking her to class my hand grazed finger. She grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. I hoped she couldnt feel how clammy my hands were. “Oh my phone just vibrated!” I lied. I pulled my hand away and wiped it on the back of my jeans then pulled out my phone and checked my invisible text message. I placed my hand back into hers and squeezed firmly then she squeezed back.

Homecoming
“Hey y’all wait up for me! Imma be right back!” I took off running back towards the stadium. Clack! Clack! A loud abrupt sound pierced the night sky.
Arghhh!!!!
I felt a striking pain in my back. Suddenly A fire sensation rushed through my whole body. My knees buckled and I fell onto the ground. I began to feel liquid coming up from back of my throat and enter my mouth. Blood filled my mouth and slowly exited through the creases of my lips then spilled onto the concrete floor.
I wanted to scream for help but I felt weak, numbness over took my movements and darkness began to blind me. I heard footsteps running towards me. “You shot him!!!!!” My heart thumped at every footstep I heard hit the floor then each beat of my heart slowed at its pace and My Consciousness began dwindling away.
-Two Days Earlier
Mrs. Jenson stood at the front of the classroom. “Okay students I know tomorrow is Homecoming and then it’s the weekend but let’s not forget to study, we have a test on Monday......”
Her words drifted into the air and disappeared from my mind, my eyes focused on my phone under my desk.
I went to my contacts and scrolled down until I seen ‘ALICIA’
I clicked on her name and sent a quick text.
ME- “Wanna be my homecoming date?”
A phone went off a couple of seats beside me.
I looked over at Alicia as she pulled her phone out to read my message. She smiled and put her hair behind one ear and began to text back.
Bzzzzt. My phone vibrated. I looked down at her text.
ALICIA- “Um, sure :)”
I smiled, clicked the home button of my phone and slipped it into the front zipper of my backpack.
Brrrring! Brrring! Brrrring!
The school bell rang.
I stood up from my desk and swung my backpack around my shoulder. As I was walking out of the classroom Mrs.Jenson gently grabbed my arm.
“Tyler, study for the test on Monday. It didn’t seem like you heard a word I said over there.”
I looked at her and put my hand on her shoulder “Sorry, I got it. Ive been studying all week, I’m ready.”
We smiled at each other and then I ruffled my backpack onto my other shoulder and went for the door.
When I got in the crowded hallway I searched my eyes around to find my friend Damien.
He was just leaving his locker and heading towards D -Wing for practice.
“Hey Damien wait up!” I jogged towards his direction.
Damien turned his head around at me and said “What’s up bro?” Then dropped his bag down by the water fountain to take a drink.
“So I asked Alicia about being my date tomorrow and she said yeah, I was actually shocked.” I leaned on the wall next to him. “Guess I got the juice now huh?”
Damien laughed as he grabbed his bag off the floor. “Told you dude, confidence is the key!”
He was right. I never had the nerve to actually ask a girl out. It seemed like every time I thought I had a chance I would get pushed into the friend zone.
I was glad Damien had talked me into asking Alicia to be my date. He knew I had been crushing on her for a while.“So what about you, you got date?”
Damien smirked “Naw I’m riding solo this year, last year it was too much drama.”
I shook my head in agreement. It did get a crazy last year. Damien and his ex girlfriend Rebecca had an argument over him not giving her enough attention when he was around the basketball team. She felt like the third wheel or something. I know they still had feelings for each other. But pride stood in the way of reconciling.
We headed towards D wing to get to Basketball practice on time.
Damien and I had been friends since middle school. We met when he moved here from Hammrock Pennsylvania because his dad had some work opportunity. He joined my basketball team and ever since then we were basically best friends. Damien was tall and stocky with light brown curly hair and green eyes. The ladies loved him.
The Next Day-
The alarm on my phone went off. I grabbed it with one eye squinting open trying hard to guard my eyes from the brightness of my phone. I turned my alarm off and rolled over on my back then stretched my arms firmly outward on each sides of my bed and yawned loudly. I sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I had stayed up all night playing x-box live with Damien and my friend Jason from the basketball team. I walked over to my closet, grabbed my clothes and went to take a shower before school.
After I was done I stood in the tall mirror in my bedroom. “Gotta be fresh today, huh Ty?” I popped the color of my polo shirt. Then grabbed the grease off my dresser and smothered it on my finger tips. After rubbing it in my fro evenly I grabbed my comb and started picking my fro to perfection, then I heard my little sister Constance running upstairs. She made it to my bedroom door and peaked her head inside. “Ty Mommy said it’s BREAKFAST TIMEEEEE!” She swirled around, her dress delicately flowing with her twirling motions. I could hear the barrettes in her hair clicking together as she danced around.
“Okay tell her I will be down in a minute.” I picked up my cologne and sprayed it on my clothes.
“OKAY!” She skipped away and took off back downstairs talking loudly so I could hear her. “Mom Ty is still getting ready for schoooool.”
I guess that was her way of trying to get me in trouble for taking too long to get ready.
Constance and I always picked on each other but it was all fun and games of course. She was only 5 but had the personality of a 16 year old. She was a spoiled brat and knew it. She deserved a little torment from her big bro from time to time.
When I finally made it downstairs My mom was standing at the counter in the kitchen cutting the crust off my sisters banana sandwich.
“Hey Ma.”
She looked over at me with her glasses on the tip of her nose. “Goodmorning, you weren’t on that game all night were you?”
Constance looked up at me from the table and smirked then stuck her tongue threw her missing teeth. I walked by and poked her on head then stuck my tongue back at her.
“Nah not too late, What’s for breakfast?” I tried to change the subject before my Mom gave me a long lecture on how I need enough sleep and blah blah blah. I sat at the table and poured me some orange juice.
My Mom looked back down at the banana sandwich. “The usual, make sure your home by 9:30 tonight after the game. The sitter can’t stay late today to watch your sister and I’m working the night shift.”
I leaned in my seat a bit. “What about midnight?”
I was a bit of a smart ass from time to time.
She looked over at me and rolled her eyes. “Hurry up boy, you about to miss that bus!”
I laughed and grabbed an extra piece of bacon from a platter in the middle of the table. Dang my Momma sure does know how to make a boys stomach happy!
My mom walked over to the tabel and sat down with her coffee in her hand. “Who’s picking you up from Homecoming?”
I took a drink of my orange juice and gulped it down. “Damien’s Mom is going to pick me up and bring me back afterwards. And Um, I was gonna see if Damien can stay the night?”
She unrolled the newspaper and said “Sure, but make sure to text me when you make it home.”
“ Alright Ma.”
I stood up and snatched a grape off my sister’s plate popped it in my mouth then quickly kissed my mom on the forehead.
My sister looked at me with her mouth wide open “Heyyyyyyy!
I walked to the living room and grabbed my backpack from the couch. “See y’all later.”
“Love you Ty.”
“I love you Momma, and you too little knuckle head.” My sister was still muggin me at the table.
I walked out on the front porch shutting the screen door behind me. I stood there for a minute rummaging through my bag for my headphones. I put one earbud in my ear and snapped the other end into my phone and took off towards the bus stop.
I walked up on Damien sitting on the curb with his science book open on his lap. He was studying for the test we had on Monday. “Wut up Damien.”
He looked up at me and closed his book. “Wut up bro, did you ask your Mom about me spending the night? My Moms bugging me about my plans after homecoming.”
“Yeah she said it’s cool.” I pulled my ear phone out of my ear and let it dangle on the coller of my shirt then sat on the curb next to him.
“Okay bet, ready to get beat on the game again tonight?”
I laughed “ha bro you ain’t got nothin on me!”
Suddenly we heard laughter coming a couple of houses over. We looked over and it was Rebecca and her friend Carla heading our way to catch the bus.
When I seen who it was I tapped Damien on the shoulder with the back of my hand. “Hey dude, why is Rebecca taking our bus today?” Rebecca hadn’t taken our bus since her and Damien split so I was shocked to see her.
Damien stood up and put his book in his backpack then swung it around onto his back “Oh you know she spent the night at Carla’s to take the bus with me today. I worked my magic.” He winked at me and looked up.
“Hey babe.” Said Rebecca as she walked over to Damien. She stood on her tippie toes and kissed him.
Rebecca was a Hispanic chick with long black hair. She stood about 5 feet tall and was very athletic. Ever since elementary she had been in gymnastics. She was also head of the cheerleading squad for Kingston High.
I stood up and looked at Rebecca. “So I guess y’all goin to homecoming together huh.” I chuckled. “I knew it was only a matter of time before you two were back at it.”
She looked at me shocked that I would be in her business. “Um yeah we actually are together and going to the game AS A COUPLE, why don’t you worry about your date.”
Carla laughed and tossed her long kinky locks over her shoulder “Yeah I heard Alicia and Hudson are back together.”
Before the conversation could go any further the bus pulled up and we all hauled into our seats.
Damien sat in the seat next to me, and smirked. “You play too much.”
I shrugged my shoulders then pulled out my cell phone to look at Alicia’s Facebook.
Status- SINGLE
I smiled and put my phone back in my pocket.
“Rebecca and Carla just messin’ with me.” I said to myself.
I leaned back in my seat and fixed the creases in my jeans.
When we finally pulled up at the school we all stood up to exit the bus. The bus driver Mr.Rockssmith was talking to all the students as they passed him. Damien put his fist out and gave him a quick fist bump.
As we got off the bus we immediately were at the courtyard of Kingston High. Kids were swarming their friends excited to talk about tonight’s homecoming game. The school band was huddled around a table practicing for their big show tonight. I went over to talk to my friend Carlos who played the drums in the school band. I looked back at Damien “Hey I will catch you later.”
He shook his head and turned his attention back to Rebecca.
“Wut up Los.” Carlos looked over at me and look his drums from around his shoulders and set it on the tabel.
“Ay bro hows it goin?”
I put my hands in my jacket pockets. “Hey Wanna come over tonight and play some Titan City with me and Damien?”
“Hell yeah, I will meet you there after the game, what’s your address.” Carlos pulled out his cellphone.
I pointed at his phone “I sent it to you already.”
“Alright then Ty imma catch y’all later tonight then.”
I gave him a thumbs up and began to walk off then quickly turned back towards him. “Oh yeah, Carlos good luck out there tonight.”
Carlos smiled and said “Comeon bro can’t nobody do it like Kingston high!”
“Already!” I turned back around and put one headphone in my ear then headed off to my locker to get ready for first period.
As I walked in my first period class Mr.Beckom was sitting at his desk responding to emails. “Good morning Mr.Carson.
He did a double take. “I like those earbuds you have on.”
I smacked my lips and pulled the wire from my headphones and snapped the bud out of my ear. “Sorry, mornin Mr. Beckom.
I went to my desk and took my backpack off and set it on top of my desk then sat down. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and hid it with my backpack. I went to my text messages and texted Alicia.
ME- “Still down for tonight?”
I needed to reassure myself that Rebecca and Carla was messin’ with me.
Everyone began to enter the classroom and took their seats. I could hear the girls in my class murmuring about tonight’s game.

Skittish
Growing up I never understood why God made me different. I would see things that others didn’t see and it scared me. I wish I could say that I was some type of psychic or some thin’ but that wasn’t even close. I was a the crazy kid, skitzo, the crack head baby. Grandma took me to all sorts of drs when I was young to get me checked out. They all had different diagnosis. Grandma neva gave up though. Always looking for the right Medicean to fix me. She died when I was 7.
Momma didn’t care much about health and stuff. Only about her next fix. So when Grandma died I was left in my own world, imprisoned in my mind. No one to talk to. I felt alone. Momma only cared about the next time she could shove a neetle into her arm. She liked me to stay sick, because she always got my ‘crazy check’ right on time. I suffered in my own mind for as long as I could remember. The crazy thing is I could actually separate my hallucinations from reality but it still scared me. It still paralyzed me every day.
I’m 35 now. Still lost in my head somewhere.
I liked routine. It kept my hallucinations in check. So Every morning I would head to the bus stop to make a trip to the other side of the city to visit Grandmas grave.
I sat down at on a bench where I waited for the city bus.
I took a drink of my iced double shot coffee. I felt the caffeine enter my throat and slither down into my stomach. I looked down at my shoes. Worn. Muddy. Creased at every curve of my foot. I grabbed my shoe lace and swirled it around my finger over and over again. Suddenly I felt my nervous brain began to swallow hallucinations.
“Tie those shoes boy!” I cupped my ears with both hands, and squeezed my eyes shut. “Stop telling me what to do! STOP IT! STOP IT!” My heart was pumping at every beat of my anxiety. Suffocating my thoughts back into place, I opened my eyes and snapped back into reality then quickly tied my shoe lace.
I sat there for a minute lost in my thoughts then I heard footsteps coming from my left so I looked over.
A mother and her son were power walking towards me to catch the morning bus. As they ruffled into place on the bench the mother looked down at her son and fixed his fro with a comb and shoved it back into her large puffy coat pocket. She looked down into her purse and pulled out a dollar bill and went to hand it to her son. When he reached his hand out to grab the dollar she yanked the worn bill further back out of reach and said “Don’t you loose this. Make sure to give it to the lunch lady as soon as you go in for breakfast.” Her words were coming out in clouds of smoke from the weather being so bitter cold. He shook his head in agreement and she folded the dollar bill and put it in his hand. She then scooted closer to him and put her hands between her legs to warm them up.
I continued to stare at them. I wanted to stop but my eyes had a magnetic hold that I couldn’t control. Suddenly the Mom turned her neck towards me and her face turned into my 3rd grade teacher. “Betta do yo homework today or tomorrow it’s detention. Didn’t yo Momma ever teach you how you can get book smart?” Her nose twitched up as she spoke to me. Her eyes screwed into mine. I quickly looked away and said “Momma neva taught me cuz Momma is never there.”
The mother looked at me with confusion and said “Excuse me?” I looked at her and said “Nothin maam my apologies.” The Mom mugged me then looked down at her son as if she was trying to make sure he was still present.
Before the conversation could go any further the speaky breaks of the city bus pierced our ear drums. The bus driver opened the doors and looked down at us to hurry and enter.
The mother quickly got up to enter the warm bus. As she was climbing the steps the mother looked back at her son and said “Caleb come on!” The little boy still sitting at the bench looked up at me and smiled. He jumped up from his seat and threw the dollar bill on my lap and ran towards the bus doors.
I got up and headed towards the bus. I grabbed a seat behind the boy and his mother. I put my hand in the pocket of my trench coat to fetch the dollar bill. I put it on my lap and unfolded it. I went in my other pocket and took a black permanent marker and wrote on the dollar bill. “Give this to the lunch lady.”
I looked up at the mother and son. The Mom was looking out the window as if she was dreaming. I patted the little boy on his shoulder where is mother couldn’t see. He turned his neck towards me. I grabbed the dollar bill and set it on his lap. He read the message and folded it back up and put it in his pocket. I leaned back in my seat, and took a sip of my coffee.

The Smell Of Wine
The smell of wine stuck to your breath and fell off your lips gently like silk on skin. It slowly went down your neck and glistened in the light. I wanted to lick it off but was afraid to touch you. You grabbed my finger and put it in your mouth and asked me if you made me nervous. I giggled a bit and smirked on why you would ask such a question. Of course someone so beautiful would make my heart skip. I grabbed your wine glass out of your hand and looked at your lipstick stained on the glass, then I took a sip. I then glanced at how each crease on your lips sang a song I had never heard before. I then grabbed your chin and looked into your eyes. Oh God those eyes. Your eyes had the pattern of the sky right when the sun came up and the roots of a tree. Your eye lashes danced together. Such a work of art. I set the glass down on the table not taking my eyes off you for a second. I then ran my fingers through your hair. Your head followed my hand’s every move. I then grabbed a fist full of your soft hair and pulled your head back you closed your eyes as you faced the ceiling and swallowed like you wanted more. I couldn’t help myself anymore, I aggressively started licking the wine off your neck and you began to scratch the back of my shirt. I walked you to the bed and layed you down. You turned over with only your knees and elbows on the bed and teased me. All I could see was your panty hose and thong you had on under your skirt. I grabbed your skirt and lifted it more so I could see all of you. I pulled your panty hose and thong off but left it right below your cheeks. You threw your head back and your long black hair slapped your back then gently fell off the curves of your back. You rolled over and began touching your self. Your shirt was half unbuttoned at the top and I grabbed your shirt and opened it so I could see the curves of your nipples through your bra. But you weren’t wearing one. I felt my dick harden some more as I seen your breast and went in to kiss you but you put you hand on my chest and gently pushed me back into place to finish watching you. I took your heels off and threw the to the floor then slipped your skirt pantyhose and thong off of you. You layed there naked. Then you slowly put your fingers in your mouth than ran your hand down your chest and stomach and entered them inside of you. I couldn’t help myself anymore I knelt down on the edge of the bed and grabbed your hips and pulled you towards me and began to lick you. You felt my breath against your inner thighs and trembled at the intisapation of my tongue on you. I licked you gently in circles motions as you began to moan. You grabbed my head and moved it around to follow my tongue. I couldn’t wait any longer I pulled my pants down and my member was already bulging at the thought of entering you. I wanted to play some more though. I stood on the side of the bed and told you to come here. You crawled over to me and kept your eyes on mine. Then you stuck my dick in your mouth. My dick glistened in the light I looked at your ass as you sucked on me and every time you went deeper your ass would shake. I thought how soft you lips felt on me and how you played with your tongue as you sucked on me. Before you made me cum I threw you back on the bed and climbed on top of you. I grabbed my dick and shoved it into you and you moaned. Your pussy was so tight and warm and wet from my mouth I went in and out. You bit your lip as I thrusted in and out of your pussy. You started to orgasim and moaned even louder and closed your eyes while you enjoyed every moment. I then felt myself reaching that point. I pulled my dick out and nutted on your stomach you moved my hands out of the way and played with my dick as I exploded on top of you. I had been wanting you. And the thought that I had actually just fucked you made me hard all over again. We started round two.
