OOC: Considering Rose is a 'predator', has she ever been the 'hunted' and gotten away by sheer luck do you think? [Something to ponder, she has not always been as powerful as she was in the movie I would think.]
Hello dear! I am sorry it took so long to get to this ask. I was on Hiatus. If you're still around, I'd love to give my take!
In my opinion as a fan and as a writer, I recognize that Stephen King ties trauma in with a majority of his writing. This is especially prevalent in earlier works such as IT, Carrie, and of course, The Shining. That being said, it is my interpretation that Doctor Sleep is sort of a character study, albeit an emotional, heartfelt and deeply complex one, on survivors, don't you think? We come back to Danny (Doctor Sleep) as an adult who has survived a horrific childhood trauma (The Shining). We see him, as unfortunately, many victims of childhood trauma find themselves at one point or another in their life... battling addiction. One could see him as an almost Loathsome character even. So with these things specifically in mind, yes. Yes I do believe that Rose was at some point the Hunted. And doesn't that always make for the best Villain? One who has survived it themselves?
This blog will be active again! Re-reading Doc Sleep, and going to binge the shining and doc sleep movies as well (yes even the mini series idc it's so good too even if cheesy it is more faithful to the book). Probably will read The Shining again this wintery season. I'm excited to get back to writing our favorite Villain. Just please remember, this is a character and not me as a person. I am writing a fictional character from a fan's perspective. Kind of like fanfic, but also roleplay. All fictitious and with absolute respect and love for the weird and wonderful universe that is Stephen King. I will always try to make my portrayal of Rose as true to the character SK wrote as I can. Constructive criticism is always welcome in asks!
Greetings! I've got drafts to get to for you all and I will be doing them, but I did run into some weirdness in this Fandom that I needed to take a step away for a moment! Thank you for the understanding and patience!
Rose could feel them, the spine tingle had alerted her to a new source, and this one smelled great, powerful. The convoy was left behind, Rose could handle this one herself, bring them back for a surprise dinner. The family would be pleased. God knew they were starving.
"Come out, little one. I won't hurt you. You're special, aren't you?"
