Final Selection is pretty dumb tbh. I think it should be much more monitored. They should pit the students against captured demons in a much more controlled environment and have Hashira or retired Hashira overseeing so they can step in if it’s not going well. That way they can evaluate and say “‘kay, here’s what you did wrong, this is what you need to work on, you can try again next year” instead of just sending a bunch of kids to die. Or at the very least, there should be a few trials like that before actual Final Selection. Because sending a ton of kids into a demon-infested forest for a week when the majority of them have never actually fought demons before in order to see if they can fight demons is just…both unnecessary and cruel, lbr
