Yeah, I thought of that too. There are some things I'd need help to give a full answer to, but I can answer the expired-SR question.
A detail worth noting is that my SR account didn't get the beta so I don't know if the view for an SR would be different, but I do have two non-SR accounts and both of those got the beta. They're expired-SR accounts, levels 17 and 12.
The 12 hasn't opened Dino, Golden, or Epona. I think it has Mistfall unlocked but I have no easy way to find out.
One of the breeds that's in the GHS is the Belgian (in Goldenhills) but that account can see that breed. Or at least three coats for it, same as the other other account. As you'd expect, it can also see auto-open SR breeds as well, like the Dutch, Mustang, and Ardennes.
So yes, an expired-SR can see and buy horses in areas that are still locked for it.
Of course, it's beta, so that can easily change and breeds in locked areas may get removed or locked in the GHS once it's fully released. But as it currently stands it does give non-SR more options than they officially have. 🙏
For the peoples saying that nobody asked for the upcoming Global Horse Store, may I propose a concept for consideration?
Non-Star Rider is a category of players that exists.
Non-SRs can only reach Moorland, Fort Pinta, the zonies at the circus, the pony championship, and most events that have portals in one of those areas.
They used to have access to Ferdinand's Horse Market, full of ancient models that are relatively affordable, but they have been deprived of that for quite a while now. Non-SRs have to wait for the bazaar to have a similar, if slightly more expensive, setup.
Those who can't buy lifetime, or even a monthly subscription, also have to depend on the rare SC codes SSO gives out. So they may pull together enough SC to get one horse after 2-3 years, if they're extremely frugal.
Having a global horse store that will have every horse, hopefully including Ferdinand's, is a dream for a non-SR. They'll finally be able to get a breed they want and in the color they want.
Certain breeds/coats may still be locked by player level/rep, just like the tack and clothes in the current global store, but at least non-SRs will get some of what they once had either way. _
No, having a global horse store will not discourage exploration all that much, if at all. SSO and players alike already forget that Dino, Mistfall, Redwood, and Wildwoods exist. Players who don't like the GHS can do the same thing as players who complain about Instagram comments they don't want to see: Practice self-discipline and not click the button that would reveal it.
And no, it will not screw up reputation-building because older/less popular models already get moved to higher-level areas like Epona. SSO nullified the logic of it themselves. _
TL;DR please think a little bit less about "nobody asked for it" and a little more about "what kind of players might benefit from it." I hear being inclusive is a good thing to do.

NEW CODE ALERT - 2/27 (FINALE)
The final code is in the launcher!
INITTOWINIT - 65sc
Since this saga has now come to a close, I just wanted to say I thought this was a really fun and engaging way to hype up/shower the community. I know there were some people hoping we would get more, but 285sc is nothing to sneeze at when we usually get 100sc 1x a year. Plus I'm a sucker for mystery/puzzle/hidden clue type games so I had fun! I hope they do more things like this in the future, even if its not for SC, though the SC is v nice.
Also, they said the reel saga was cringe, but I just thought they were having fun, which is nice to see. Anyway, thanks for following along with my updates!

SSO has done similar contests before and, as far as I saw at least, they turned out fine. So they'll likely follow the same code of conduct this time around.
I'm not fond of reward-less contests, but the nice thing with this one is that they say that screenshots from the game work just as well as original art. They do seem to like using in-game images more than art these days, so it may work in one's favor to give them that, if one chooses to submit anything at all. Let the quality of the work match that of the reward. General audiences don't care about time and effort put into a piece, only how good the final product looks. Popularity contests work the same way, even if the host claims otherwise.
Draw what brings you joy and/or an actual reward, not what a company asks you to freely give that you'll get nothing back for.
So. The art contest.
Just in case I need to say it: please don't send in artwork. They're not going to pay you for it and even if you don't win you're likely giving them the right to use it whenever and profit from it just by submitting it. It's called rights grabbing and it's super unethical.

Well, so far all of the horse breeds I suggested 6+ years ago have come into existence except for Hackneys and Orlov Trotters. I'm going to add Norman Cobs to that list though.
Personally I'm still waiting for even a hint of mules. Specifically a dark Jorvik Wild mule (that's also my answer to the OC question).
Edit: Good heavens. I didn't know an army's been growing.

alright ssoblr, which horses do y'all wanna see in the game some day in the future? (talking breeds that aren't in game at all.)
bonus question for blogs with sso ocs: do any of your OCs have a guardian horse of a breed that isn't in game yet?
