Dear Namjoon,

Thank you for clarifying the mutual respect and trust between BTS and ARMY for the media who seemingly just want to serve headlines about you - despite them being exaggerated, or inaccurate, or downright disrespectful.

I know you wonder if you shouldn't have opened yourself up in that video, as clips and screenshots of your vulnerability are being used to twist narratives - but I hope you know that we truly appreciate your honesty towards us, your ARMY. I know it's hard, but I hope and pray that you can quiet the noise from those who ride on the wave of your fame for no reason other than personal gain. We do not need nor do we want them in our safe space.

We are eternally proud of you, Joon. Thank you for letting us in.

June 14, 2022 - A Letter

Dear BTS,

I've spent all day trying to run away from the feelings that desperately want to spill out of me. I woke up at 5 am this morning fearing a tour announcement (because ya girl can't afford it rn, pls) - not realizing I would have to watch my favorite people in the world crying tears of sadness, frustration, exhaustion? And I am crying now because it kills me that you felt that way; that you feel that way.

But I am not sad for me. I am not angry. I am not afraid of what will come next. I am happy and proud, overwhelmingly so. Happy that you get this chance to live your lives the way you want to live your lives, and proud that you made this choice despite it being the road less traveled; but you've paved the way since you became BTS - this decision does not come as a surprise.

I am most proud to have been a part of your journey thus far; to be deserving of your honesty and vulnerability. Thank you for always being so authentically you - so deeply rooted in who you are as people that you are willing to take a step back to reassess, even though it needs to be done at such a crucial time in your career. Oh, do we appreciate you. Oh, do we love you.

Take all the time you need, Bangtan. When you said this is the first step of your next chapter, when you said this is necessary for you to be better versions of yourselves - I believed you. I believe you.

I know what it's like to feel lost; to feel uncertain - because I'm at that age too. If I struggle living my life, I cannot even begin to imagine how you deal with yours - given the millions of people watching your every move, countless of them waiting for you to stumble - it fills me with such joy that you are putting yourselves first. We understand you more than you know. I hope you know that.

We'll be right here. Waiting for you. And doing our own growing, discovering, and learning too. Whenever you're ready, so are we.
