Craft Cocktatls & Creative Cuisine AT Comorin-Gurgaon
Gurgaon has something new to celebrate – Comorin, a new all-day restaurant & Cocktail Bar. In a first of its kind, it also includes a concept store , a cocktail bar, coffee bar and a market section. Comorin is a relaxed space that encourages communaldining, conversations over cocktails and a well-designed menu !! A first-hand experience suggests that Comorin, which carries a strong legacy of hospitality & a new crisp concept, will be a grand success & will soon be delighting guests, all across India. The first Comorin has opened at Two Horizon Centre, Gurugram & seats 120 guests, with an indoor & outdoor space…and indeed a well-appointed space.
Even though its just been a few days and virtually no marketing, I understand that lunch is running full from the offices in the complex & residences around the Complex are dropping in at all times for a meal, coffee, cocktails or to browse through the market-place.
Our experience at Comorin was exceptional with warm & efficient service, an innovative menu & very well designed cocktails. In fact, the Small platters can make up the entire meal and Large platters can be shared. The restaurant offers a walk through across a market section & cocktails mixers, besides a Tea & Coffee selection.

Bourbon is Redefining The Indian Palate
Whisk(e)y has existed and fascinated us for centuries with its complex character and a wide taste spectrum. From legendary tales of craftsmanship, heritage & legacy to even tales of illicit distilling, Whisk(e)y carries a rich past, mapping the history of the world.
India is a whisky-drinking nation and for a long time we have identified whisky mostly with Scotch. Though over the last few years, we have started appreciating whisky across blends and malts, higher age variants or NAS and at times, discerning about the various cask finishes. Until now, we have not witnessed an active debate on Whisky’s Country of Origin. Over time whisky has evolved and brands from across the world are trying to please the Indian palate. In the last few decades, American, Irish, Japanese and to some extent Canadian whiskies have complemented the evolving consumer taste by adding global offerings beyond Scotch Whisky. For instance, the American Whiskey category has seen a revival worldwide and business is all set to grow in India as well. Industry estimates indicate it to be second largest imported whisk(e)y category after Scotch in India and has been growing with a CAGR of more than 11% in the last few years. Traditionally, from hamburgers to Coke to fried chicken to chocolate chip cookies, we Indians have loved all things American. However, lately increased exposure to the American culture through education, business trips and leisure travel has brought Bourbon closer to the Indian taste buds and witnessed a rise in the demand. Indian consumers are now considering American Whiskey for its taste, quality and the recall value that resonates with the brands. So, it comes as no surprise that Bourbon, America’s favourite whiskey is rapidly gaining popularity and exciting the palate of well-travelled Indians. Rise Of The Irish Whiskey On The World Stage
When we think Whisky, the amber nectar, we primarily think of Scotland. Though, there has always been a debate between Scotland and Ireland on where did Whisk(e)y originate, with claiming the honours…!!
Scotch or Irish Whisk(e)y, both are known to be one of the oldest spirits in the world, they have a history that goes back ages. Whisky has dominated the spirits world for generations and has been the spirit of choice, across nations & narrations. We understand that both the Irish and the Scots, mastered the art of distilling and served some of the finest blends in the world. Over the last few decades, the category has recorded an impressive growth. The Irish Whiskey industry is buzzing with activity and the past few years have witnessed an impressive line up of announcements about new distilleries, new partnerships and investments, making promising prospects for the Irish blends. Today Jameson is hailed as the no. 1 Irish Whiskey in the world. Going from grain to glass, Jameson is the finest and has even opened its distilleries for the keen appreciators.
After a very shining history, of being one of the best in the category around 19th and 20th century, Irish Whiskey lost all its prestige and merit. The 1880s, being one of the most dominant, Irish Whiskeys` controlled over 70% of the world’s whisk(e)y market. It was the best selling imported whiskey second only to bourbon. But, then came a downfall so harsh, that Irish Whiskey at a point was considered nothing more than Bath Tub Whiskey. Adding to the whiskey woe, was the high energy marketing by Scots of their premium Scotch whiskies. They all focused their energies into strict quality control and a tight production process that helped them make strong international brands.
