Connor let a tiny, sinister smile break out across his features and waved his hand. “Sasha, it’s amazing.” He told him honestly, dragging the plate back to him so he could go back for more. “I was just trying to get a rise out of you – and it worked, clearly.” The man chuckled and brought another forkful to his lips. “What is it?”

A disapproving smile scrunched up Sasha’s face and he gently flicked a dish towel at Conner. “Come on! That’s not at all nice,” he said, his eyes squinting at the jokester. “My very own pesto gnocchi. I’m glad it’s good. I was afraid my taste buds were broken because I really liked that one.”

Jamie nodded his head. “A chef? So you’d be the guy I call up when I get a craving for something delicious in the middle of the night?” he asked. “Good to meet you as well.”

Sasha nodded. “If you need something delicious in the middle of the night, you can definitely call me. What food do you like?”

Before Reed could object, the chef was hurrying back to the kitchen. Drumming his fingers on the table, he waited for the man to return. Reed watched wide eyed as the plates of food were brought to him. He couldn’t believe the man had cooked all of this up so quickly. It was a bit embarrassing it was all just for him. “Whoa, this looks amazing…” Two things he’d never tasted before. 

Sasha smiled, nerves back. “I hope they taste amazing too,” he said, a little chuckle in his voice. “I’m trying my best to have a diverse menu. You know, familiar things and unfamiliar things that will hopefully become familiar with some time. I’m very open to suggestions if you have them, I’m just trying to do the best I can with the restaurant.”

It was tempting to take another bite. The smell that rose up from the bowl paired the lingering taste on this lips made his mouth water. “Anything else you want me to try?” Reed chuckled, half joking, half hoping there was something else to taste. 

“Absolutely!” Sasha said before practically bouncing out of the room. After about two minutes of furiously clattering in the kitchen, he came back with two perfectly crafted platter. “Alright, this first one is Katsudon. A Japanese dish. It’s supposed to be a comfort food, and hopefully it is just that! Then this one is Sauerbraten. German.”

“Yeah,” Reed nodded and looked down at the plate again as he licked his lips. He stopped himself from taking another bite, not wanting to eat everything so quickly. “What is it? I’ll have to order it when I come back.”

“My own little variation on a classic. Beef noodle soup from Taiwan,” he said with a smile. “In Taiwan it’s a sort of title. ‘The Beef Noodle King.’ It was one of the first foods I ever made. Before that I mastered mac and cheese, though.”

Reed blinked and looked down at the food curiously before taking a generous bite. No one had ever asked him his opinions of food before so he wasn’t entirely sure if he would be much help. But, whatever he’d eaten was delicious. “Wow,” he chuckled and sheepishly smiled before taking another bite. “It’s honestly really good…”

A smile so big it shone up the restaurant flew across Sasha’s face. “Really?” he said, his voice screaming excitement as much as the bounce in his step did. “Fantastic!” He checked something off on a piece of paper. “Another one added to the list.”

Looking over Sasha, Jamie pulled his shirt the rest of the way down. “And how acquainted are you with the island?” he asked. He grabbed his keys and moved towards the other male. “Jamison or Jamie if you prefer.”

Sasha shrugged. “Very. I’m a chef around here, so I know the lay of the land. You’ve got to when strangers come in wanting to know where to go.” He smiled. “It’s nice to meet you, Jamie.”

Kaitlyn smiled happily as she turned at took in Sasha. “Ya! Another cuddler. And you’re right they are the best of the best.”

“It’s such a nice way to communicate, right? It’s a silent way to connect with someone. A closeness you can’t really communicate in any other way.”

Jamie pulled his t-shirt the rest of the way down as he noticed someone standing in his doorway. “So… I’m new to this island lifestyle. Who wants to be a good neighbor and show me around?” he asked as he took the time to look the person over in interest.

Sasha raised his eyebrows, a smirk on his face. “I have some free time if you want me to show you around,” he said, leaning against the doorway as he looked over at the newcomer. “I’m Sasha, your good neighbour.”

Connor wanted to toy with the man, after having him watch him eat the morsel so intensely, he could only repay the favour by letting him stew. He is pretty sure he’s never had someone stare at him like that whilst eating. Setting the fork back down, Connor let his arms rest on the table and gave a small shrug of his shoulders. “Well…” He pondered. Of course it was amazing, everything Sasha cooked was amazing - but he’d let him wait a little longer before receiving that praise. 

The nervous chef raised his eyebrows, nervousness taking over everything about his body language. As Connor let the silence drag on, Sasha’s eyes squinted. ‘ That bad, huh? ’ Sasha said, disappointment on his face. ‘ I’m sorry I made you eat that, um, let me make it up to you? Do you have a favourite food I can make for you? ’

‘ Alright, be honest, ’ Sasha said as he watched the person in front of him, a nervous expression on his face. ‘ How does it taste? ’ It was a big task to try to make up a menu of completely original recipes, and Sasha couldn’t trust his own taste buds to make the best decisions on food after so much experimenting. He needed the help.

“Huh what? Lost? I’m not lost. I know where I’m going…” Greer shakes her head at the person inquiring toward her. She takes a few steps, almost going in one direction before she stops and huffs out a small sigh. “Okay I am lost. It’s been a month and I still have no idea how to get around this place.” Greer turns the upper-half of her body to person nearby.

Sasha grinned. “There’s no shame in getting lost. It happens to the best of us. Even me for the first little bit I was here! I was following a map my first week here and I almost walked into the ocean I was so lost and so distracted,” he said with a chuckle and a shake of his head. “Where are you trying to go?”

‘ Well, he sounds like a stand up guy, ’ Sasha replied with wide eyes, obviously joking. He was running the bar this afternoon in his restaurant, so he was tending to the drinks to get ready for the dinner rush as he spoke to the woman. ‘ At least he’s giving you something. Vacations are nice. It’s a time to do whatever the hell you want to. Start with something you love! What do you love to do? ’
