A giff I made for Geena because she loves doing Capoeira. It's an interesting and complicated movement to animate

Ive been making phenakistiscopes and getting really excited about the idea of continues movements within physical objects. These are a couple of my quick tests that I have done. I think its a really interesting way of creating animations and a lot can be seen within these circles. These are all very simple but I am working on making some more detailed and relevant ones. An inspiration for this project was the Vinyl Slip Mat for Animal Collectives music video for Painting With by Elliot Schultz.

I have been doing the artwork for the Swiss Jazz Band Lyft Trio. It has been great fun working with them going with the idea of being inspired by travel and mountains

Every Summer I spend a week at Great British Music Camp running poetry and animation workshops. This is one of the funniest weeks of my summer because of the huge amount of creativity and energy from the people there.
This year I co-ran a multi media workshop. I worked with a group of 9 to 17-year-olds. We created a collaborative spoken word performance that was accompanied by projected animations and a soundscape. This was an ambitious project but we all worked hard and pulled it off!

Unterholz has been traveling around to the festivals this summer! It was shown in Switzerland in June at the V.R forum. Next month it goes to Ukraine to show at Linoleum Animation Festival and then to Bristol for Encounters Film Festival. It has had a lot of positive feedback and it seems like all the hard work is paying off! To find out more about this film visit its website. https://unterholz.weebly.com

Last Month I attended Apes 18, a seminar on Animation and Public Engagement. I was a brilliant day and fascinating to hear so many talks on this subject. It was great to see the variety of animation can be. Each speaker had a different angle on how animation can be useful in society from raising awareness to helping with cognitive development. It made me think that there is a lot of scope within the animation industry as it can cover so many aspects. One talk that resinated with me was Susans Young’s presentation of her PHD research on animation as a healing practice. This is something that very much interests me.  Melanie Hani who co-organised the event was also interesting to talk as her organization Heart is very much based on the idea of animation as therapy. It was great to make these contacts as it inspiredme to think further on this subject.
