Sawyer woke up the morning not prepared for what was coming that day,not knowing the way her day was gonna take a twist.Heading to work meeting her new co workers and one of them seeming just a bit to familiar as her first shift started.Hailey had told her there wasn’t a spot at the police station but Sawyer wouldn’t ever wanna be around the station with his everything seemed to play out when she was there for a few moments.

Sawyer walked into the fire station with the faint chatter of her new co workers,getting to know them and helping with one of the smaller rooms they were wanting to redo and redecorate,she knew mouse was planning on stopping by an seeing her at her knew job but she figured it would be when her shift ended not randomly in the middle in between of it am sure as hell didn’t expect him to bring Jay of all people after what happened.

“First I had to convince them Travis was in fact the bad guy and not you who should of been doing crisis intervention,Hughes what you did in there-“

the guy who was talking was cut off while Jay and mouse stayed back for a moment out of sight listening mouse recognizing the guy to be jack the two of you had been talking about.

“Yeah I know” Sawyer told him looking up at him with her hands on her hips feeling as if she had a weight on her chest and if she was out of breathe.

”No you don’t know because if you knew you wouldn’t of done it,our job is to help people what you did was put that entire family at risk” jack had roughness to his voice but also calm trying to stay sweet to her.

“I think the family was already at risk” Sawyer was sassing back to him while glaring up at him while he was looking down at her,sawyer was always shorter then everyone,while everyone seemed so overly tall to her.while she went to walk away he told her to stop having not been done talking about it.

“I have to get my heart monitor” she pointed to the locker rooms while walking away,the same heart monitor she didn’t even tell her best friend about,now why did sawyer need a heart monitor she was one of the healthiest people they knew.

“Heart moniter?” Mouse asked as he turnt around the corner as well as Jay seeing sawyer putting a bracelet around her hand which monitored her heart.

”uh yeah I had some issues after the ieds you know,it kinda basically almost killed me but I’ve been having his heart issues it’s kinda like palpations but if they get to frequent you know” sawyer sticks her tongue out acting like she’s dead try to lighten the mood because to be honest she was in the verge of breaking and crying and she didn’t need Jay to see her cry not after how he asked if she was good and then didn’t stand up for her when she did nothing wrong and his girlfriend blew up at her.

“Are you serious” Jay mumbled irritated she didn’t tell him.

“why didn’t you tell me that when he talked the other night or even last night” mouse pressed while being sincere.

“What so you can go run off and tell Jay,yes I get it we are like brother and sister but after coming back and getting treated like shit when I didn’t even say anything to him or his girlfriend and then he had the audacity to just stand there and listen to her talk to me like I’d didn’t go through that” sawyer raised her voice at mouse and her bracelet started beeping while she pointed at Jay.

“don’t ever tell me you care about me like you did when we were serving the rangers because we both fucking know that’s a lie it was just to boost your ego about your friends and make you look like a badass”her voice breaking as tears started to fill her eyes and jack came around the corner hearing the beeping that was picking up louder.

“Hey hey take a deep breathe” he shoved past Jay pulling sawyer into him who went to take a deep breathe but ended up collapsing against him grabbing his shirt seeming as if it took her a moment to even breathe.

“Hughes your benched I’m serious” jacks voice was laced with worry but also discipline as he was a  Lieutenant.”you have put the station and yourself at risk already twice today”.

“Yeah I get it Gibson I’m on desk duty.” Sawyer stands up reaching for the wall while her face becomes flushed her moniter still beeping.

Jack becoming serious as he raised his voice a little.”no not desk duty your benched go home.”

“You can’t bench me like that your not the captain” she yells not caring Jay and mouse was staring at the two fighting.

“Your not okay” jacks voice becomes soft while he puts his hand over his own heart looking at her.

“What is this punishment for what happened at my place?” Confusion left sawyer while Jay couldn’t help but want to punch jack feeling jealous run through his body though he was with Hailey an had been for a year.

“No Hughes no,it has nothing it do with that-you know what actually it does because it’s further proof that your judgement is just” he paused while motioning with his hands that he meant crazy.”look I don’t wanna fight with you and I get your hurting but you can’t be like that out in the field.go home” he tells her again while he walks out.

Sawyer sighed feeling like everything yet again was just crashing down on top of her while Jay went to reach out to her wanting to be there for her and not wanting it to be jack who was in her arms,her flinching away. “Stop god just stop” her voice raised slightly while her moniter still hadn’t stopped. “Just go okay,just go you have hurt me enough okay I can’t deal with this right now so just please.” Her voice broke as she walked out of the room while tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Travis had became close with sawyer lately,it only made sense to her he was now boyfriend with her best friend mouse and their personality’s were so close it had almost been scary.Sawyer didn’t wanna tell anyone where she was going she just wanted to do it alone,it’s how she’s always normally did everything that way,was alone expect she ran into Travis who saw her in one of the emergency rooms.

“Hey what’s going on everything alright” he came into her room grabbing her hand while she tried fighting back tears.

“No everything is falling apart and I’m expected to hold it together so I don’t look like a dam child who got her first doll ever took away from her and the guy I love is with someone else and he is a compete different guy when she’s around with him plus every time now sense I gotten back I get slightly bi-“ the heart moniter had started beeping quickly leaving sawyer to sigh. “But that happens because now I have a heart condition thanks to ieds so doesn’t life and god just love me” her voice dripped with sadness.

“Hey whatever happens and whatever goes to happen I’m here alright you are now my sister to me an I ain’t gonna let you go through nothing along anymore” Travis states.

When Sawyer came back home to Chicago for the first time in six years she knew things would be different then they had been while they all served together.Unaware Jays brother Will would go behind her back when she told him to not say a word that she was back,Sawyer knew Jay all to well he’s always with a girl,it’s hard to ever find a time when he’s not taking care of business he’s with one.The only other person who would be worth reacting out to was your best friend Greg but everyone called him mouse from a inside joke when he screamed on top his lungs when there was a mouse inside the base.

Not knowing after Jay got out of the rangers that he also went to work for the Chicago pd,Mouse had texted Sawyer to meet him there while he was wrapping things up just to meet him in the lobby.While she glance up putting her phone away after seeing the results from the test,she can’t help but smile when mouse almost tackles her into a hug swaying you.

“there’s my girl” cupping your face soon after. “I never thought I would see you this soon”.

“Yeah I would rather not talk about it right now but maybe later if you wanna come over and we could have a drink together and we could catch up you can tell me how you have been sense we last saw each other”. Breaking the hug playfully shoving him but freezing seeing Jay coming down the steps into the lobby of the police station,along side a girl with perfectly blonde hair and almost the worlds softest looking skin.

“Hey I didn’t know you were back already so soon,Will told me you were back but I didn’t expect to see you so soon,how are you doing?Its great to see you” Jay said with a smile on his face seeming so genuinely happy until sawyer doesn’t return the smile while the girl he had been with blew up.

“Bitch he is talking to you,are you that stuck up thinking whatever the hell you went through was that much worse then what he or mouse went through also we don’t need anyone else new so go” Jay mumbling Hailey,of course he falls for a girl like that she can’t help but to think to herself.

“What the hell man are you serious” Mouse blows up while Sawyer gently pulls him back by his shirt. “Hey it’s fine let’s just go okay” her voice is quieter then Jay remember it ever being not sure what had really happened,if he was right she still had a year before her check to make sure she had a all clear.Watching as Sawyer left with Mouse.

“What the fuck Hailey? Your not thinking straight,you don’t understand any of this and you just blew up at her not even knowing the truth yet” Jay yelled for the first time at Hailey while she glared up at him.

“This isn’t about me,this is about everything all those stories at the rangers you told me,you are in love with her Jay and now she’s back your gonna leave me and go running into her arms? A fucking psychotic bitch who is probably manipulating you,can you say you know everything that happened over there and who she became while you weren’t there?”

Before the two would get to what happened Mouse couldn’t help but bring up the tension between Sawyer and Jay back at the station.”if you did care about him why didn’t y-“ mouse was talking calmly while sawyer cut him off unlocking her house before walking in with him right on her heels.”Mouse I cared..I care about him so much that I am scared that I will never care about anyone like that again but he’s with the girl back at the station and he’s happy with her so who the hell would I be to ruin a relationship that would make me such a god dam evil person.”

Their conversation being quickly forgotten while they got drunk talking to each other.”I’m not allowed to go back,I wasn’t cleared everything was fine and we all got back to the rangers base and they had covered every square inch of that building in ieds,I couldn’t hear for a week after that an I can hardly sleep I close my eyes and I hear those screams and the noise,I turn a corner and I’m terrified I’m gonna see those faces again”.while Mouse had comforted her holding her while they had put on what was supposed to be Mouses favorite show called outer banks,falling asleep on the couch.

Sawyer waking up groaning slightly from the hangover she now could carry for the rest of the day as she made it to the police station having a text from mouse to meet her there,him handing her a beer which she declined “that’s cute I brought vodka” ignoring the glances from Jay as she wrapped her arms around mouse.”are you still okay with going with me later” her voice slowly becoming for quiet and weak sounding as mouse rubbed her back “of course I wouldn’t go back on a promise angel” having also ignored the glares from Jay who was seemingly trying to tell mouse to get his hands off of her.

While hours seem to pass only leaving the two rushing giggling into mouses smaller officer,sawyer being in a dark uniform that Jay couldn’t make out quick enough while Hailey sat down beside him talking about a case,Antonio laughing hearing sawyer and mouse talking in the room sense his desk was so close which left Jay to be so curious starting to hear while the two in the room seemed like two kids that were inseparable while he secretly listened in as well.

“My god you slept with him didn’t you” sawyer voice came out sounding like she was smiling like crazy while mouse was left stuttering for a moment.”uh I’m sorry because we are both gay men,you just assume we slept together?”while there was noise of a chair falling over and laughing breaking out behind that closed door that was part of keeping sawyer and Jay separated.”oh no,it’s because you guys avoid eye contact with each other like it’s your job.”

“No I didn’t-he’s got a whole-he just broke up with his-okay firm yes I did shut up” mouse was chuckling shoving her as if they were exactly like brother and sister.”yes I knew it! Oh my god” sawyer was giggling and laughing for the first time sense she got back.

“What about you?oh Jack,I didn’t see you there” mouse was talking in a girl voice for a moment mimicking her.”…..I may of done something bad” sawyer exclaimed while she started opening the door tripping over her own feet her leg still not back to 100% from the ieds.

“With jack!?” Mouse ran after her almost tripping himself as well as he rushed handing void papers to stay focused on the conversation in their own little world.

“….no…well uh…” Sawyers voice was stuttering trying to lie but failing miserably having always been a horrible liar while they made their way downstairs.”jack?” Mouse had said again while they were making their way to mouses car to go to Mollys which was a bar.

Having set down at the bar while sawyer say Jay and Hailey walking in and sitting down at a booth while her and mouse were sitting at the counter.she didn’t understand why Jay was following her around it seemed they weren’t friends at this point anymore it seemed anyways.

“Don’t delay your happy because mines been messed up,go after it text it.In fact you know what,hell I will text it for you right now” taking mouses phone which left hun reaching for it and the two laughing again.

Sawyer saying what she was texting as she typed.”hey,it’s me mouse,I am the wildfire” while giggling taking a drink wincing while it burnt her throat “what do you even text a man who looks like a sculpture?”

“Gimmie- no- oh! Did you send it?!“ causing him to grab his phone quickly and sawyer to bust out giggling and an covering her mouth while mouse tried not to smile “alright,you’re out.you’re going to time out.” Cause in them to smile at each other and bust out giggling for a moment before taking a drink yet again.
