“You will find that the priest who damns you is a man; that the legislator who oppresses you is a man, that the husband who reduces you to an object is a man; that the libertine [anarchist] who harasses you is a man; that the capitalist who enriches himself with your ill- paid work and the speculator who calmly pockets the price of your body, are men.”
— Anna Maria Mozzoni, one of the most popular Italian feminist theorists and activists of the nineteenth century, 1895.

I'm actually going to start killing anyone who says the term Karen in front of me.
This is the top comment on a video about the Scolds Bridle/Witch's Bridle, a torture device similar to a dog muzzle but with a spiked tongue piece that goes inside the woman's mouth to make it painful to speak. It's a tool of gendered torture and oppression.

Lately I’ve been doing this thing where when men give me shit at my job, I choose to instead speak to their wives/girlfriends/female counterpart. I had a dude today try to yell at me and I ignored him and instead spoke in a very level voice to his wife instead. He literally stomped his feet like a fucking toddler and said “stop ignoring me! I’m talking!” And his wife said “George, please use a quieter voice. You’re embarrassing me.”

Another consequence of overturning Roe: charging mothers who don’t provide the absolute ‘best’ environments for their babies.
In 2019, a pregnant woman gets into an argument, and the other person shoots her in the stomach 5 times - obviously the baby is lost. The pregnant woman (who got shot) was charge with negligent homicide for ‘bringing her baby to the fight.’ It took 7 months of protest for her charges to be overturned.
Now that Roe is overturned? Can a mother be sued if she doesn’t take folic acid pills and her baby is born with spina bifida? What about the mom who doesn’t realize she was pregant until the 2nd trimester, drank in the 1st, and decides to keep the child? If her baby is born with fetal alcohol syndrome, is she charged with negligence for not keeping her body in tiptop shape, even though she didn’t know she was pregnant?
These are not hypotheticals. If a woman’s body is no longer her body, but *always* either a potential or future baby carrier, then we’re in for a whole host of crimes against pregnant people.

“this is why we need to push ‘safe, legal, and rare’ when it comes to abortions” no, this is why we need to stop ceding ground to forced birthers. stop making abortion out to be some kind of necessary evil. stop acting like any woman who gets an abortion has to have some kind of tragic reasoning when the only reason any woman needs is “I do not want to be pregnant right now.” this namby-pamby bullshit is why it’s so easy to chip away at abortion rights. talk about the medical issues, the privacy issues, the ethical issues–but stop with this hemming and hawing over how you don’t really like abortion but you guess that it should be available if it has to be.
safe. legal. on demand.

Daily reminder that gay/lesbian people have always existed, will always exist, and will never be attracted to the opposite sex no matter how much medical intervention is involved 🧡

I’m thinking today about Savita Halappanavar, an Indian dentist living in Ireland, who in 2012 suffered a partial miscarriage of her first pregnancy. Doctors refused to perform an abortion to expel the foetus as it still had a detectable heartbeat. She developed sepsis and died. She was 31.
About Agnieszka T, a Polish woman who was pregnant with twins. She miscarried one foetus but was refused an abortive procedure. 6 days later her second foetus died. She had to wait 2 further days to be given a termination. She died 3 weeks later of septic shock. She had a husband and 3 other children. She was 37.
About Izabela, a Polish woman whose foetus was found to have several abnormalities, but who was determined to carry to term. When her waters broke in the 22nd week of pregnancy she was told she had to wait until her foetus had no heartbeat before they could induce her or perform a c-section. She died leaving behind a husband and nine year old daughter. She was 30.
About Andrea Prudente, an American woman on a ‘babymoon’ in Malta where she suffered an incomplete miscarriage. Due to Malta’s complete ban on abortion, she was denied an abortion that would save her life. She asked her husband to punch her in the stomach as hard as he could to either induce labour or stop the foetal heartbeat. She was medically evacuated to Spain where they safely performed the procedure needed to end her pregnancy and save her life. This happened on Thursday.
Restrictive abortion bans harm anybody who can get pregnant. They harm planned pregnancies, as much as unplanned ones. They harm residents and non residents. If you’re reading what’s happening in America and thinking ‘Well at least it’s not my country’, sorry to say there’s every chance you could still end up affected one day. Abortion is basic healthcare, and basic healthcare is a basic human right. All these women were denied theirs, and these are just the tip of the iceberg. The last 3 all happened within the last year. Rather than these women being a sign of the past, instead they’re now very much a sign of what’s to come in America and that’s terrifying.

This is the most offensive evil bullshit goddamn I loathe these men with my entire being how fucking dare you good grief!!!
FGM? Breast ironing? Foot binding? Femicide? Incest? Rape? Legally enforced gender roles???
Pornography, plastic surgery, the sexualization of girl children, illiteracy, the wage gap, fashion, makeup, being barred from education, being barred from holding a job, being barred from spending money, being barred from controlling your own body, being barred from medical care, being taught that your only purpose in life is to serve men all of it that is all female oppression it happens to females in order to keep them oppressed and controlled by men and it works.
Has nothing to do with the fact that infertile women exist and everything to do with the fact that we live in a misogynistic patriarchal world. Women are seen as inherently inferior to men and have been subjugated for men’s pleasure and desire for thousands of years all based on their extremely obvious anatomical differences

When I spoke to Habib, he stressed to me how empowering porn can be. “You learn how to have sex with people you’re not attracted to and you learn to perform all sorts of acts that would normally be exhausting. It’s a really intense skill set, and the people who succeed are the people who do it well, who can perform.”

Amber heard can't say it but I can. Johnny Depp is a domestic abuser, he is an addict, he is a violent drunk, he is a rapist, he is a liar, he is a wife beater, and he used his money and power to help him abuse his ex wife.
