“I’ve given almost all the stuff I’ve worn on stage through the years away, but the ‘Do What You Like’ codpiece and leather jacket I’ve kept, for some reason. Me and Jason bought the jackets from Kensington Market and they weren’t cheap! Two hundred quid a pop! We were doing what we were told to do at the time, wearing what we were told to wear, and we didn’t even think of questioning it. Everyone’s jackets would come off a minute into the routine, though Rob wasn’t keen to take his off because he was wearing a tasty all-in-one ski suit underneath. We loved it, though. We knew that we were on our way. The littlest things meant such a lot of us, even down to getting free catering on the set.” {Howard; Take That/Take One}

“We’d all literally clamber to be centre of attention on camera. We’d fight to get in show. We’d only been in development for six months before we filmed the ‘Do What You Like’ video. I had my hair darkened for it at Pierre Alexander in Manchester, which was Nigel, out manager’s hairdresser’s. Nigel had found me dancing on The Hitman and Her and when I was dancing my hair got darker from all the sweat. He liked it. So I got it done for the video, with a little piece added at the front do It flopped over my face on photo shoots. The ‘Do What You Like’ outfits are iconic now. Nigel really knew what he was doing. We all felt ridiculous, of course. Gary felt the most ridiculous. But we’d lose any self-consciousness because it was out little gang. We were comrades straight off. Howard and myself would always take cues off each other, Mark thought everything was mega and Robbie was a bit like a little bother to us. Gary just didn’t get the outfits, though.“ {Jason; Take That/Take One}
