Sometimes such passionate love doth in her rise,      Down from her beaten path she softly slips, And with her mantle veils the Sun’s bold eyes,      Then in the gloaming finds her lover’s lips. While far and near the men our world call wise      See only that the Sun is in eclipse. - c

♛ Frenchie & Izzy | fluff otp edition
Tumblr media
Who’s more likely to find who wearing their clothes?
Frenchie is 100% more likely to catch Izzy wearing his clothes. The munchkin menace is always cold and all of Frenchie's shirts & jackets fit him like blankets. On occasion Frenchie will snag one of Izzy's shirts but they just look like crop tops on him.
Who enunciates hand holding?:
It's pretty even. Frenchie was the first to hold but Izzy is definitely the last to let go. Frenchie's giving love language is physical affection and Izzy laps it up like a man stranded in the desert. Hand holding is an easy way for them to maintain or reestablish a feeling of security. They'll both do it while working through disagreements
Who likes having their hair washed by who?:
Again, they're both super into small acts of physical affection. Frenchie would run a bath and wash Izzy's hair post-amputation, especially when he was going through severe depression. After Frenchie's mum died, Izzy would do the same for him. It's a small caretaking act that they both enjoy doing for each other.
Who likes to slow dance?:
Frenchie is the bigger dancer but he's more of a 'randomly dances in kitchen' type. Slow dancing is more Izzy's speed and he's very good at it, even after he loses his leg.
Muse that’s more likely to fall asleep with their head in the others lap?:
Izzy is more likely to fall asleep in Frenchie's lap, and Frenchie likes to sleep on Izzy's built in chest-pillows
Muse that does all the cuddling in a blanket fort?:
Frenchie does the cuddling, Izzy worries about the structural integrity of their fort. He constantly adds and expands it until the thing takes up the whole damn apartment. Then he does sentry checks where he worries about where it may collapse. Frenchie often has to drag him back so he can actually, y'know, enjoy the fort.
Who hogs most of the covers at night?:
Izzy. No matter the universe, this SOB acts like he has been drop-shipped into the artic. He will cocoon himself in all available blankets and then throw his weighted blanket boyfriend on top for good measure.
Muse who nuzzles the others shoulder to get them to give them a head rub?:
Frenchie is most guilty of this. He'll headbutt Izzy like a cat and then flomp into his lap with his limps all stretched out and relaxed. He'll usually do this if they're watching a movie or hanging out on the couch after a long day.
How do they share a desert? Two forks or one?:
Frenchie orders desert and asks Izzy if he wants anything. Without fail Mr Sugar Isn't Macho say "no". Then he proceeds to stare at whatever yummy goodness Frenchie is eating and asks "how is it" and "is it good" until Frenchie finally just let's him have a bite (the rest). Once Frenchie knows better he orders any desert with two forks.
Who gets jealous more easily?:
Izzy. His trainwreck of a relationship with Ed left him even more insecure than he was going into it. Frenchie isn't immune to jealousy, but he's much more level-headed about it. Uncontrolled jealousy is a deal breaker for Frenchie and it's something that Izzy has had to put a lot of work into correcting.
Who gets angered more easily?
Izzy. He is a small, spiteful chihuahua man who rages at the smallest inconveniences. (In modern) Frenchie is rarely at the receiving end of his temper though. Depending on the situation he either steps in (to save a life) or watches his boyfriend bite the other persons ankles.
How do they go to sleep at night?:
Stacked like pancakes. Izzy usually sleep on his back and Frenchie will sleep more or less totally on top of him. If they can't do that for whatever reason then they will still end up intertwined in some way or another.
Who gets the most shoulder rubs?:
Again....they are very physically affectionate with each other. When the relationship originally started it was definitely Izzy who received the most shoulder rubs because he wasnt as comfortable giving physical affection. However, now Frenchie gets more shoulder rubs but only because Izzy needs more massages for his hips and lower back. Otherwise it'd be pretty even.
What are there arguments/fights like? How often do they fight?:
Fights are very uncommon between them. Not because Izzy hasn't tried his hardest to incite them. Frenchie is basically the chilliest dude alive and loathes confrontation. He'd rather physically flee the scene than fight with anyone, much less Izzy. Their fights are most often caused by a combination of miscommunication and Izzy's own insanity.
Who is more likely to throw things in fights?:
Izzy. Never (intentionally) at Frenchie, although a bottle came pretty close to hitting after he interrupted Izzy's wallowing without announcing himself.
How do they make it up to each other/apologize after an argument?
Depends. If it's for a small thing "I'm sorry" may not actually be said but finding a way to make it up to the other. Either by admitting they were wrong or doing something special. For the big stuff though, more often than not they will actually apologize and try to have a discussion. Communication isn't either of their strong suits but they care enough about each other to try. Izzy is more prone to trying alter himself (even if it's unsustainable) by denying his own emotional needs out of fear that he could lose Frenchie by asserting himself. Frenchie is much better at compromising. He'll often try to mediate the original problem in some way.
Do they have nicknames for each other?:
Izzy's include: babe, munchkin man, baby boy, big boy, & sunshine
Frenchie is literally Frenchie's nickname. But the Izzy exclusive one is Daddy. Sometimes he also calls him "mon cheri" like an absolute sap.
Caring for each other while ill, how does the other muse go about it?:
They're both the worst patients who will insist they aren't ill/don't need any help- meanwhile they are hacking up a lung while wrecked by fever.
Izzy suddenly finds his inner Dad Voice and will have Frenchie lay down on the couch while he makes soup. He makes sure Frenchie is completely swaddled in blankets and takes his medication. If the fever is too high he'll press cold compresses to Frenchie's neck and forehead. They usually stay on the couch watching fluff films (romcoms & buddy comedies) while cuddling until Frenchie falls asleep.
Who’s more likely to be patching the others wound?:
One of them continues to be shot and maimed (Izzy) and the other is very careful, adverse to violence, and knows a thing or two about first aid (Frenchie). I'll let you put the pieces together on that one.
Muse that says ‘I told you so’, after they come home from the beach and other muse is burnt to a crisp while whining how bad it hurts for not listening and putting on sunblock after the other muse repeatedly told them they’d get burnt?:
Thankfully neither of them burn easily. But Izzy is the one burnt. He doesn't whine though. He just pretends like he doesn't resemble an overdone lobster. Frenchie will shake his head... maybe allow Roach to give it a slap or two before putting aloe on it and maybe drawing him an oatmeal bath.
Your otp has a newborn baby, who gets up in the middle of the night when he/she cries?:
Neither of them wants children, but assuming they were babysitting or something along those lines... Izzy is definitely the one anxious enough to get up at the first sound on the nannycam. Before Frenchie can even offer his boyfriend has entered into Mom Mode. Unfortunately, Izzy has no idea how to care for children much less infants. Frenchie comes in a little behind him before Izzy can try and dose the infant with whiskey or some other insanity. Frenchie is the one who actually gets the baby to go back to sleep by singing lullabies.
Your muse’s of the otp reaction to finding the others crying about something? And how do they make them feel better?:
It definitely takes a lot to make Izzy cry so Frenchie rarely bothers asking if he's okay because the answer is obvious. Usually he'll knock on the wall, just so Izzy isn't startled, and ask if he can come in.
Frenchie's go-to move is handholding and cuddles, to be honest. He figures Izzy knows the offer to talk about what's upsetting him is there but likely won't be taken (at least not at that moment). But physical comfort is always welcome. Sometimes, maintaining contact, Frenchie will begin to hum as well. Izzy can definitely get extra clingy when he's so upset and Frenchie tries to be patient by allowing him to decide when to let go. But honestly that man is part koala. Sometimes Frenchie really has to prompt him by offering to make some tea before Izzy will begrudgingly disentangle himself from Frenchie.
What would they be like as parents?:
Izzy absolutely doesn't want to be a dad and Frenchie is more or less ambivalent. However, if they hypothetically were... Frenchie is actually really good with kids. He's cheerful, patient, and fun. Unfortunately he also sucks at setting boundaries and wouldn't know how to discipline someone if the 'How To' manual smacked him in the face.
On the other hand, Izzy is somehow both the mom and dad friend. He doesn't want to be, but he is. Life with Ed has prepared him for parenthood. Unfortunately it also made him (even more) high-strung and neurotic. He'd be the worlds strangest combination of pageant mom and soccer dad. With a baby he'd be the biggest mess, simply not sleeping out of worry that the child would somehow roll out of the crib. This tense energy would only transfer over to being really invested in the childs life. Contrary to Frenchie, Izzy would be downright suffocating at times.
That said, they're both exceptionally caring people (when they want to be). Arguably the biggest sign that they would be good parents is that they cared enough not to have one. Neither of them really crave parenthood and it wouldn't really be fair to bring a child into a relationship where they may or may not be wanted (even if they'd always be loved).
Also...Frenchie thinks that having Roach AND Izzy is more than enough. Nobody needs a kid on top of that.
What would they have been like as childhood sweethearts?
Um... literally the sweetest, sappiest couple ever?? They were both lonely kids who desperately needed friendship. In a world where they met as children, they are likely each others best friend first and foremost. They've known each other so long that their communication isn't nearly as bad. With Izzy's help, Frenchie is a bit better at asserting himself (although he's never one for confrontation) and Frenchie manages to sooth the worst of Izzy's insecurities as they began to rear up. They likely become damn near inseparable, are fiercely protective, and wary of others since literally everything about them and their relationship is frowned upon or outright banned (homosexuality, ftm, class differences, & racial differences).
Who enunciates taking a bath together?:
Frenchie is the one who suggests it more often than not. Usually on snowy days after he drags Izzy out into the, in his words, frigid arctic. Izzy is very sensitive to the cold and will get shivery in cloudy, 70 degree weather. Sticking him in a warm bath is the best way to defrost him.
Who likes who playing with their hair?:
They'll both play with each others hair. However, more often than not it's Izzy playing with Frenchie's hair. Izzy is definitely a little in love with how springy Frenchie's hair is, and Frenchie is definitely a little in love with how good it feels to have it played with.
The place they mostly likely accidentally fall asleep together?:
The couch or in a cuddle puddle with Wee John in the middle.

While I prefer not to write extensively on a muses potential diagnoses- if they have something it should come across in your writing. I’m going to bend my rule on this a bit to talk about Christophe.
When Crispin wrote Christophe she clearly intended for him to be a narcissist. Now, as far as I’m aware it’s never really elaborated beyond that but I’m going to take a step further. I believe Christophe-Julien de Rapier is a malignant narcissist. The reason I’m even writing this out is that the symptoms of this personality disorder are often mislabeled as psychopathy, sociopathy, or assumed to be your typical, garden variety NPD (narcissistic personality disorder).
Below the cut, I’ve gone ahead and elaborated on what these different disorders are and how a malignant narcissist differs.

I want to take a moment to talk about Adam and Teague:
By most measurable characteristics they are complete opposites. However, there’s one blatant similarity between the two that I often think about. They’re both involved in maintaining law and order just on different sides of the coin.
[There’s a gifset which can be found here that inspired this thought]
In the gifset I linked above there’s a conversation between two men:
“ You know as well as I do that given the right circumstances, anybody’s capable of anything. Plus, he had no family to keep him on the straight. Lot to be said for family.”  “And what if you don’t have any? Do you think that’s how you end up your days?Alone, in some two-bob kip, nothing but a bottle for company?”  “That’s his future, not yours. You’ll make better choices.”
In many ways Adam unwittingly strove to emulate the idealized version of older brother he had in childhood. It was Teague who shielded his brothers from Anne (as much as he could), who looked out for them and stood in as a surrogate parent.
But unlike Teague, who he saw firsthand get dragged down by the family baggage, he chose to do it the “right way” by going to school and becoming a lawyer. So when looks at his brothers there’s a bit of sadness now? Discomfort as well. He saw so much strength and potential in his older brother, more than he ever saw in himself, and yet he was the one who broke free.
idk I’ll write more on this at some point but those are my thoughts for now.
