Compared to BfA and Shadows Rising's portrayal, how did you like Sylvanas's portrayal in Before the Storm?
I think BTS was basically the debut of BFA and Shadows Rising Sylvanas… though I guess I could say it did feel like it got worse as BFA went on (her part in SR is so short it’s sort of whatever), so technically I liked BTS more than BFA lol, if only because in BTS she still displayed other emotions besides “cryptically smug-bored”.
And because it’s been a while since I’ve actually specified why I felt like BTS Sylvanas was such a departure from her previous character, here’s an attempt to get down to the core of it.
In Before the Storm, this introduces a Sylvanas that has no real connection to the Forsaken as a people. She is portrayed as purely possessive and pitying of them. One of the main narrative objectives of the book itself is to actively drive a bigger wedge between Sylvanas and the Forsaken.
Taking her character in this direction does not directly contradict anything explicitly stated about her in earlier content, there’s just a number of implications and themes in previous stuff that make this seem like a suuuuper questionable direction to take the character.  There are other little characterization problems I had with BTS, but this is the core one.
I will explain further because this is an essay blog now.

Considering Personas are simply "masks" people wear, wouldn't it make more sense if the protag's teammates weren't locked to one Persona? Like say, Morgana being able to switch between Zorro and Mercury. Akechi already does it with Robin Hood and Loki, but they called that the Wild Card, which is stupid
Yes, but the protagonist must get all the hand jobs.
So don’t think about it, instead think about all the cool P5 merch you want to buy

Edo era beloved plaid patterns, yet another handy reference chart by @nadeshicorin, showing from left to right top to bottom:
Misogoshi kôshi (Miso strainer lattice) 味濾し格子 : heavy grid with thiner lines arranged at equal intervals, named after the fabric used to strain miso (akin to cheese cloth)
Benkei jima (Benkei stripes/plaid) 弁慶縞 : grid formed by thick lines getting darker at intersections, named after famous warrior monk Benkei
Kogôshi (Small lattice) 小格子 : simple plaid with thin lines
Ôgôshi (Big lattice) 大格子 : simple plaid with thick lines (if super thick, may look like squares over plain background)
Dôji gôshi (Child lattice) 童子格子: plaid pattern with thick grid paired with a thiner one just behind (= like a child beside their parent)
Okina gôshi (Old man lattice) 翁格子: plaid pattern with thick grid paired with many thiner ones just behind (= like many children beside their old parent/grand parent)
San kuzushi (Broken three) 三崩し: group of three lines arranged vertically against horizontally (form a pattern looking a bit like a woven basket)
Hito kuzushi (Broken one) 一崩し: single line arranged vertically against horizontally (form a pattern looking a bit like a woven grid)
All of those patterns were considered super fashionable during Edo era, and are still heavily featured in modern kimono fashion :)

The Satanael Solution
An anon recently sent me their own take on Satanael in P5, beginning with this simple question:
This has been on my mind for some time, but who does Satanael’s compendium entry refer to?
An archangel who is said to be the form of Satan before he fell from Heaven. The second son of God, he rebelled against Him for freedom and bestowed free will and chaos upon humanity.
It got me thinking about it as well. About drawing from the same old wells, that is. If you recall, the book Angels: An Endangered Species by Malcolm Godwin, a tome of dubious character and specious content, seems to be why SMT claims Metatron is violent and why Gabriel became female in SMT2. Keep in mind that this is a book cited in official Atlus bibliographies!
To answer the anon’s question, the “who” is still Satanael. Unsurprisingly, the book also contains the sum total of all Atlus descriptions and depictions of Satanael. The quality of that information is a whole different story, though. If you want to take a shortcut, check out the book excerpts above and keep the Satanael profile and his role in P5 in mind while you do.
Read on to find out lots more!

Edo era beloved stripes patterns, lovely (and handy!) reference chart by @nadeshicorin, showing from left to right top to bottom:
Yoroke jima (Wavy stripes) よろけ縞 : self explaining, lit. yoroke means “stagger”
Bôjima (Straight stripes) 棒縞 : thick vertical stripes equally spaced (bô means lit. rod or baton)
Misujitate (Three wiry stripes) 三筋立 : motif made of pin stripes going by three
Kintsû («Golden» stripes) 金通 : stripes made of two parallel lines (I am not sure of why it’s named this way, with the “gold” kanji. If you know please reach out ^^)
Katako mochi jima (I know this one under the name “parent and child stripes”) 片子待縞 : stripe motif pairing a thick line with a thiner one
Yatara jima (Random stripes) 矢鱈縞 : motif pairing “randomely” spaced stripes and/or stripes of many different colors
Soroban jima (Abacus stripes) 算盤縞 : stripes with diamond shapes (representing sorobandama/abacus beads)
Taki jima (Waterfall stripes) 滝縞 : mixed stripes motif were thick lines gradually gets thiner, like falling water
All of those patterns were considered super fashionable during Edo era, and are still heavily featured in modern kimono fashion. Here are for example some of my kimono, a soroban jima (abacus stripes) over same (shark skin pattern) komon kimono:

and a taki jima (waterfall stripes) kimono made of rustic tsumugi (pongee silk):
