My first three drawings for Inktober 2019. I didn’t use the prompt list, because I tend to like drawing animals, and would have felt bad labelling animals as either “Mindless” or “Tasty” haha! All drawings done with Micron pen for the rough outline, and Pitt Artist India ink pens for everything else.

Can You Hear Me Now?
I happened upon this bizarre location for a loudspeaker a couple of days ago. It was blaring the news—loud enough that it could be heard a block away—right above one of the few working payphones left in Ottawa. I know Ottawa has three levels of government, but you'd have thought someone somewhere might have thought this wasn't the cleverest of ideas. On the other hand, it gives new meaning to the word "speakerphone".

Pollen-Coated Bee

It wasn't until I took a closer look at this guy that I realized he was essentially head-to-toe covered in pollen. Kind of cool.

Fishermen at Lighthouse Beach, Kovalam, India
We stayed at some humble cottages on Lighthouse Beach for a week or so, and got to know the fishermen fairly well. This was part of a series taken around dawn, as they brought in their overnight catch. Taken with a Nikon FM, Kodachrome 64 and a 50 mm lens.

Art by Mique Michelle in Chinatown
I happened upon artist Mique Michelle a couple of days ago, while she was painting the façade of an Indian food shop. She's made fabulous use of the walls available to her on every side of this corner shop. You can see more of her work at http://dalisrejects.com/
Local artists and art students have been covering virtually every door and storefront on the main drag in Chinatown, which has made a huge difference in the streetscape.

Rolling Protest in Chinatown
This man was driving around Chinatown in Ottawa last year, shouting "Chinese government is robber!" I spoke to him briefly, but didn't quite understand the reason behind his protest. After I took this picture, he snatched a quick snap of me before driving off.
