Yule is traditionally associated with family gatherings, gift giving, and holiday parties.

Since Yule is coming up in the next few weeks, I figure this quick bit of magickal cookery can help ensure that the home environment will remain happy and peaceful for the holidays.

This brew can be simmered on the stove to release a peaceful and loving energy as well as a comforting warmth.

Gather these ingredients :

1 cup water

1 cup apple juice

3 cinnamon sticks, broken

1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 orange, sliced

Combine all these in a cauldron or pot and simmer on low for as long as desired, adding more water if necessary.

Who is Cernunnos without Wiccan influence?

Cernunnos has been adopted in the neopagan community as a god of “fertility” and “masculinity”. This is not true to his Gaulish Celtic origins. There’s no surviving mythology of him, so all we know today is from ancient artifacts depicting his iconography and context within the Celtic pantheon. The Blackthorn charm:

The Blackthorn tree or sloe is a shrub native to Europe and several other places in the East. The trees poisonous thorns that can cause sepsis, making this thorny hedge a very powerful symbol of protection and setting of protective boundaries.

This potent charm is used to protect the inhabitants of a home from curses, intrusions of any sort, attacks, outside interference, and all general malicious intent.

How to make:

Begin by taking a good piece of white or red string and remember… knots are a symbol of protection.

While tying the thorns to the string, recite the following spoken charms:

By knot of one, this spells begun

By knot of two, it cometh true

By knot of three, so mote it be

By knot of four, this power i store

By knot of five, this spell comes to life

By knot of six, this power i fix

By knot of seven, malicious power i lessen

By knot of eight, i seal the thieves fate!

Finally, pass the charm through a hoodfire/hoodlamp. Then through the smoke of incense three times.Then simply hang it in a window or near your hearth.

I don’t think a lot of witches and pagans in general realize that you can offer actions to your deities

Even though Offering a tomato is a one time thing,

Growing a tomato can be something for ages.

Every single time you water the plant, de-weed the area, etc, that can be an offering

These kinds of things are especially good when you are working in the city, or in a college dorm like I am.

Dedicate a walk to them. Or a meditation if that’s your thing.

Have a little cactus you care for in their name

Create poetry or read something

You can even sing a song or do a dance!

How To Attract Hounds

What You Will Need:

-A Candle in the color of the hound you wish to attract (I recommend a tealight or the yankee candle sampler candles, nothing too big)

Hellhound: Red

Heavenhound: Pale Blue

Black Shuck: Navy or Black

Cu Sidhe: Green, Preferably Dark Green

Grim: Grey

Werewolf: Brown

-Sigils to Carve into the candle

-A Pendulum with this under it, covered in salt water

Steps:

Carve into your candle then proceed to light it, making sure your pendulum is set up and ready

Either say or think your intentions while focusing on the flame, making sure to specify what kind of hound you want to attract

Once the sigils have started to melt start periodically asking if anything has shown up.

When something does show up, start talking to it :)

Ice, one of the greatest forces of nature, can help weaken and remove a curse.

If you feel you've been cursed and you know it's source, this spell will help weaken it with harm to none.

Write the name of the source on a small piece of paper and fold it. Place the paper in a small freezer bag and add enough water to cover it. Then place the bag in the freezer.

When the water has frozen through, take out the bag and cleanse it, as you do so say this charm :

With ice opposite of fire,

Free me from this curse as I desire.

With ice this curse's power is locked,

As it melt's the curse's power will stop.

Allow the ice to melt. When melted, pour the water and paper away from your home.

The ice will serve to lock or "freeze" the curse's power. As the ice melts, the curse will dampen and eventually be stopped.

To Close the Doors of an Enemy

You will obtain an long nail that has not been used for anything outside of this ritual. Alongside this, a black thread and an image or taglock of the person you wish to work this ritual on. You will prepare a pot of soil or, if you have access, a small patch of land close to the west. When night comes, preferably on a saturday, you will take the taglock and bind it to the nail with the black thread saying:

I hammer nails into your feet, your hands, your head, youur throat. No paths shall open for thee, no roads, no doors. I say it and it shall be so.

This nail is then taken to the western side of the property or to the pot of soil which has been placed in the western part of the property. You will take the nail and place it in the soil so that it stands up and then slam it down with your hand declaring:

It is done. The nails are set, you shall not wander and no glory shall be yours.

Witchcraft 101: Uncrossing

“Uncrossing is the removal of a type of curse or ‘cross’ that has been laid upon an individual that makes a certain area of their lives difficult because of negative energy that is attached to them, causing them to see and experience only difficulties in that area. Uncrossing removes this negativity, allowing the person to move forward.” —Silvio Guerrinha.

Simply put: uncrossing is the act of undoing any baneful magic(s) that have been cast upon oneself. 

Before you attempt an uncrossing, you must first determine whether your run of bad luck or the spate of negative occurrences has a mundane or magical origin. You can do this in a number of ways, but the general consensus is to look for the sudden onset of issues such as: nightmares, sleeping trouble, loss of energy (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual), bad luck, financial and relationship trouble.  *Of course it is possible that all of these have routes in non-magical things, but these are said to be signs of a curse, hex, or jinx of some kind. 

If you work with entities or deities, you may ask them for clarification or confirmation on this issue. 

The term uncrossing is used widely, but a lot of the magics you see will have their origins in Hoodoo and Voodoo, so be cautious (Hoodoo is not a closed cultural practise, but a restrictive one. Voodoo/Vodou is not closed, but it is restrictive and requires a legitimate initiated teacher).

Hello, I hate to bother you but I was wondering if you had any strong offensive protection spells that would work against an abusive, manipulative and narcissistic person. I absolutely adore your blog! Thank you.

I would perhaps employ the use of rose thorns for this spell. As roses are known to be used to draw in love, you may use thorns to keep away anyone or for protection. If you have access to any other thorny stems, you may use them for this spell too.

Write their name on an unused medium-sized taper candle.

Take four thorny stems from a rose bush. You may use dried ones as well. Best if you cast away the bud and the leaves.

With a length of twine, carefully bind the four stems to the candle.

Light the candle and say:

"Thorns that guard,

Thorns that ward,

Keep (name) away from me.

Thorns that stick,

Thorns that prick,

Make him/her turn away and flee."

Have the candle burn down completely. And carefully, I might add. Should the stems catch on fire, let it burn down completely as well.

Alternatively, if you're using a single votive candle, inscribe their name on the surface. Take four thorns from a rose and stick them to the wax. Light the candle and speak the words of the spell.

Witchcraft Series - Warding FAQ

What is Warding? 

Warding is considered an energetic field one creates through ritual and other means to protect themselves, their home, and their scared places. Warding is used to keep out negative and malicious intents or things specific to your intentions. 

Do I have to learn how to Ward as a baby or intermediate practitioner? 

You don’t have to learn anything you don’t want to. However, warding is a major staple of protection work. Learning how to protect yourself magically, I believe, is one of the first things someone should learn. I say this because you don’t know who might be unhappy with you and try to throw a curse your way or what malicious spirit might attach to you. Your wards will act as your first defense, as a wall between you whatever negative energy is trying to come to you. 

Do I have to Ward everything I own? 

No. Generally, one ward over your home can protect most within it and protect from things try to come in. However, warding is something that should be kept up with and maintained often. Energy dissipates and those who do not practice energy work often, might struggle with the long term up keep. 

Okay, I’m convinced I need Wards. What now? 

You start by grounding yourself and your magic. You always want to ground yourself before doing any kind of spell work. Next, you want to cleanse your space, self, or object that you want to protect. You don’t want to trap negative energy or anything you don’t want inside the wards. The next step is to figure out a method that works the best for you. Over time, I’ve taken bits and pieces from different methods and that is what has worked the best for me. This may not be the case for everyone so, please experiment and figure out what works the best for you. 

The method I first started with was Incense Warding. With this, however, I created a sigil that was specific to me and my cause for warding. I drew this sigil by doors, windows, and the main corners of my home to create a ward that would match the shape of my house. I put emphasis on there I needed the wards to be the strongest.  If you cannot use incense, you can use water and essential oils to spray VS walk the smoke around. 

Now, for a small object you’ll want to spray or hold over the smoke of the incense. Reach out and feel the object and try to connect with it. You’ll want to begin to imagine a field of energy incasing the object snugly, protectively. You’ll want to put your energy and intent to protect from XYZ into the ward. Be as specific as you can be - warding from negativity may not necessarily ward you from danger or from mischief. Repeat until you feel your message has gotten through the ward is staying put. 

The method for something larger stays about the same but you walk around and spray or walk the smoke around multiple parts. If you’re warding your home or something large, be sure to ward not only a wall barrier but create a floor and ceiling for it. Completely incase the object. 

Don’t be afraid to do layers! Layers are good and will provide more of a defense.

Warding

Warding is a form of magick intended to protect a person, place, or thing from negative/parasitic energies/entities. Wards are like energy and will fade over time.
