Photo Arts Center
Attending the Photo Arts Center was personally a new and pleasant experience for me. Before, I was not aware of a museum that exclusively showed photography, especially not in the form of having entire photography books on display. However, going to this museum was enlightening, for I had found multiple books containing beautiful pieces, all surrounding the focus of a specific place. For instance, a photographer by the name Mikael Subotzky took advantage of the contrast of lighting and colors and also the use of technique of symmetry to illustrate the complexity and diversity of a residential building called Ponte City in South Africa. The pieces in the book were overall stunning and successfully exemplified the concept of Ponte City in every single section of the book. Other books I have looked through had done the same of creating an idea of the atmosphere of one single place through unique techniques and concepts, leaving me fascinated by every new book I had found.
