Limited release.. fudge and KBS on Christmas Eve, what鈥檚 not to love? This is by far 5/5 for me and my favorite of the KBS series and dare I even say CBS! So glad to have gotten a few four packs of these and am indulging now and also saving a 4 pack to age in the beer fridge. #kbs #foundersbeer #founderbrewing #craftbeerlife #craftbeerlover #barrelaged #limitedreleasebeer #beerporn #beergirlsofinstagram #beergirl #craftbeercommunity #craftbeerporn #bourbonbarrelagedstout #darkbeerlover #darkbeerseason #darkbeer #christmasbeers #christmasbeer https://www.instagram.com/p/CJM7uANlvLw/?igshid=ydpo4a4hyi56

@ironhorsebrewery Cozy Sweater Vanilla Milk Stout 4.5% ABV 9 IBU. I couldn鈥檛 resist feeling the holiday season with this new-to-my-Local-store seasonal brew. Unlike others I鈥檝e seen I don鈥檛 think the vanilla is over done and I think it鈥檚 more lactose than anything. A good milk stout, and great for this time of year and the snow dusting we got today! https://www.instagram.com/p/B5PFMwIlve8/?igshid=1lc0jpvwrosgd

Raided the beer fridge! Got out some bottles I鈥檝e been aging... this one is almost 3 years old! Bought on a trip to the mothership of @russianriverbrewingofficial in 2017. Love Consecration! It鈥檚 refined. It demands attention. If you can get a flight of multiple ages of this beer consider yourself lucky... and that鈥檚 why you would buy a bunch to bring home and age! Highly recommend this hard to find behemoth of American sour beer. (at Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4bXj6RFqhp/?igshid=11d8j45mfhxqq

Bozeman Brewing鈥檚 Funky Virtue wild ale 2019 fermented with cherry 10.1% ABV. Very nice funky ale that is indeed quite young. I recommend it even with the semi cough syrup after taste from the Brett. Really beautiful color but I drank it before I took a picture! I bought a couple of these to age and look forward to what it will become! @bozemanbrewing https://www.instagram.com/p/B3bPJr2pOSI/?igshid=vqoovrdhtyg9

Had Snow Hop Brewing's Fox's Fire Kolsch. Very well done! Nice to have this time of year especially considering the September snow we are supposed to get tonight and this weekend! Beer is light, grainy. Smooth and drinkable. Light mouthfeel, hint of hop. Haven't seen this before in NWMT. 4/5 @snowhopbrewery https://www.instagram.com/p/B28L0_wFWxR/?igshid=rhs4hbngf1uh

Huck It Huckleberry Gluten Free Summer Honey Ale by Big Sky Brewing in Missoula, Montana. 5% ABV 10 IBU. This beer is struggling to be original in a PacificNW beer scene that has many huckleberry options. This is good for the effort... better than Great Northern's Huckleberry Lager but not as good as Laughing Dog's Huckleberry Cream Ale. I know they are 3 different beer styles but for being imbued with the same fruit... 3.5/5 https://www.instagram.com/p/B2a0x29lXHj/?igshid=17d92bbir34i7

Pineapple Kush American IPA 7.1% ABV by Cascade Lakes Brewing Company in Redmond, Oregon. Not a fan. Trying to be tropical but is not successful. The more I drank it the less I liked it. It got a skunky... almost burnt taste towards the end. I tried it last night, tried it today. Six pack dated from July... may be too old for an IPA but it's still well within 90 days. Not a good first impression of this brewery. Dank, cat pee stench, Mosaic. 1.75/5 @cascadelakesale https://www.instagram.com/p/B2a0WqelI-E/?igshid=1c8r63fsglyhv

Hello again old friend! Old Rasputin by North Coast Brewing in Fort Bragg, California. 9% ABV. This is classic, dark, coffee notes. The first time I had this in 2012 I grew to like it and it is nice to revisit it. Excellent production quality. I still need to get out to this brewery! Love this beer... 4.5/5 https://www.instagram.com/p/B2IpIh7l15H/?igshid=1dpx8nkwkiw4p

Drinking Red Lodge Ale's Czechmate Pilsner 5.8% ABV 28 IBU. For what this is trying to be it is spot on. Very true to style. Golden, very clean. Reminds me of Prague, in a good way. 4/5 I'd like to drink this side by side with Bayern's Pilsener to compare styles. @redlodgeales @bayernbrewing (at Many Glacier) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1q7n_dl_Fd/?igshid=uzd42dr70u60

Hopzone IPA by Bozeman Brewing Company 7% ABV. Malty and hoppy. I'd really like to see Montana develop a style of IPA. I think as a state and beer culture it is working on that, and this beer is definitely a staple in it. Though for a single IPA this offers a lot I would not say that this has a marked unique geographic style. I do know that they use Montana malt which adds a lot of body and backbone. It's a good standard IPA that you can find fresh (can dated 7/10/19), which is not easy to find for other IPAs in many parts of Montana unless you're drinking local. I really like Bozeman Brewing Company and really appreciated meeting Tucker who was super friendly and a great advocate for the brand. I highly recommend stopping into their tasting room! 3.75/5 (at Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1aSHerlaED/?igshid=z90e8oac6vxf

Myopia Hazy IPA (6.5% ABV, 55 IBU) by Sawtooth Brewery in Hailey, Idaho. There's a hazy IPA then there's a chunky haze like this one. Not a homogenous liquid, but highly crushable. Happy I got a 6 pack of this while in Missoula, have not found this in the Flathead. Hoppy, citrusy. Carries the alcohol and IBU very well. This is a grand effort at a hazy NEIPA, very Chinook and Citra, though description lists Simcoe and Mosaic as well. This is citrusy but not what I call tropical. Piney, hops on hops in a good way. Glad I gave this a try. The can art is pretty cool, too! I give this a 3.5/5. A good first impression for this Idaho brewery! Flash Flood Milk Stout by Higherground Brewing in Hamilton, Montana. 6% ABV. Very drinkable. Full mouthfeel. Very true to style. Can has no date that I can find. Does not go overboard on the creamy/ milk side of things. Critique is that there's a slight burnt taste on the finish. Flavor is very linear, no surprises. Not too sweet, hint of chocolate. Good first impression of this brewery, hope to find them distributed more widely in the Flathead. 3.5/5 (at Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1T7lfJFpbY/?igshid=vrdde2bp8ykc

Ole Gus Scotch Style Wee Heavy Rye Ale by Meadowlark Brewing in Sidney, Montana. 7% ABV. Not too heavy on the rye. Malty goodness. Very well done version of this style. Hint of caramel. Sweet finish. Bold and bright. A good first impression of this brewery! 4/5 (at Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1SkZq-lX0D/?igshid=h2nzlt2wcmyk

Founders Brewing's Mas Agave Imperial Lime Gose Style Ale Brewed with Agave Aged in Tequila Barrels. 10% ABV. This is excellent. Please look at the second picture and tell me if this is normal or not... this had a lot of floaters... bottle dated 5.17.19. I'm typically a fan of what Founders produces but this is different. Lime, salt, tequila. It's the flavor profile of a margarita... and though that might sound kitsch or gimmicky it is very well executed. This is very drinkable and the higher ABV is an afterthought. I think what I find intriguing about this is that before barrel aging it was an imperial gose which is not something I have encountered before. I really like Founder's barrel aging series including CBS and KBS.. but that's a different review. I give this 5/5 for its drinkability, fresh lime taste, and execution of barrel aging. https://www.instagram.com/p/B1PoNOel48B/?igshid=ka0hfjkvr3va

Had my first taste of @mapbrewing today at @backcountry_burger_bar and it was nothing to write home about. I need to try more of MAP's lineup to get a better impression but the STrange Cattle NEIPA (6.5% ABV 60 IBU) was a mixed bag. Harsh yet bland. Skunky. Not what I call tropical. Flavor profile is flat. Not going to write off the brewery and it's building reputation off of this mediocre first impression. 2.5/5. Hibiscus Hard Mat茅 by Highlander Beer in Missoula, Montana. 4.5% ABV, 10 IBU. Gluten free. This is good if you are looking for a drink that is watery and floral. The hibiscus is a note but not necessarily a constructed flavor profile. It's drinkable in a wet and inconsequential type of way. The concept of this beer is interesting and I like the creative effort. This is not something you have encountered multiple times before. But in my opinion this is a bit hollow on the beer it could be. It has a lot of potential and I think this could take some refinement. I would describe this with the adjectives of light and soft, but not necessarily in a delicate way.. 3.25/5. This was my first experience at the Highlander tap room and it had excellent service, food options, and the outdoor space was great. Worth a visit! I've tried this on draft and from a can now and thought it was time to write a review for the Huckleberry Cream Ale by Laughing Dog Brewing from Ponderay, Idaho. The PNW market has a variety of beers flavored with huckleberries. It's a bit gimmicky at this point, because the majority of the time it is not done in an exceptionally well manner. And I haven't tried it all, nor in every style, but there is a lot of subpar huckleberry beer out there. The choice of a cream ale and the execution of the heavier texture is well done. It's unexpected from the vast majority of styles that breweries add huckleberry to. I first tried this at @brasstap_kalispell where it was labeled as local. Not sure if it qualifies as that here in the Flathead (how far away is still local?) but it was worth a try. I recommend this beer with a 3.75/5 rating. I look forward to trying more beers from Laughing Dog and hopefully making it to Ponderay! 4% ABV. Drinkable. Full mouthfeel. @laughingdogbrew https://www.instagram.com/p/B07okSIFLlw/?igshid=nef8aj88995u
