A book on an obscure, oh-so-interesting topic? A trinket that reminds them of that one time they discussed the Platonic solids? A pretty/nerdy notebook to jut down sudden ideas? You bet.

• Companionable silence

Simply sitting down in each other’s company; no expectations, no demands. Each does their own thing in peace, but they appreciate and enjoy the other’s presence.

• Deep discussions

Be they scientific, philosophical, artistic, political, or even downright absurd, these two will manage to interlace their strings of thought to create an inspired loom of abstract ideas and mental frameworks. They always learn from and with each other.

• Similar modes of speech and social needs

These two satisfy each other’s innate need for company without overwhelming the other with emotional expectations. They can be as direct, blunt, and sarcastic as they wish to be. Count on them to be quiet in the company of strangers, yet talkative for hours on end with each other.

• Mutual understanding

One of them has thoughts that are conventionally best left unexpressed? Too dark? Too tongue-in-the-cheek? Too cynical and depressing? Too starry-eyed and idealistic? The other would hear it all. No judgement. After all, they get such thoughts themselves.

• Protectiveness

Nothing retrieves an INTP from their peaceful indifference, or triggers an INTJ into immediate offence, like insulting or otherwise hurting the one they care about so much.

• Natural team

Their thought processes complement the other’s. Where one falls, the other picks them up. Whatever their pursuit, the end product will be carefully thought through from every aspect, creatively and rationally.

Ne being the bouncing-off-the-walls function is a misconception, Ne by itself doesn't do that, considering its definition as the holistic perception of external reality. Ne is a single point overseeing the context of what's collectively happening...

Ne users vibe! They pick up the wave and flow with it, keeping a pulse on the big picture. That's the opposite of someone chasing flying unicorns and vomiting rainbows. Many Ne users are very laidback, and are *very* much in touch with reality...

It's reality at the abstract level where all of the moving parts happening around them are blended into a singular idea. Like a coach leading the team, a conductor guiding the orchestra, a nurse navigating thru the healthcare system, a journalist covering the state of economy...

They all stand in a position of perceiving a synergistic image produced by all the moving parts around them. That's what Ne sees!

So where does this whole bouncing-off-the-walls thing comes from? To change the collective idea, we need to create momentum shifts... One impact or two isn't enough. We need to approach this relentlessly at the right angles!

If you're asking "isn't making impact Se? So we need a lot of Se?" You'd be right! Ne users dip into their Se. An idea can be concretely realized in so many ways...

Many things have to happen to get an idea off the ground. Seeing possibilities is byproduct of this. They're multi-tasking, paying attention in all of the things, dipping into Se making impact wherever they can. They're trying to be in many places doing many things at once!

And with their respective codec function, ESxJs build and rely on structures to tune the moving parts to shape their ideas at large scale. ENxPs who'd rather bask in the flow wear many hats building up a swiss-army knife variety of skills.

Fe equating with empathy and absorbing emotions is not correct, particularly for IFJs / ITPs. Fe- is the "emotional feng shui" set by others.

Bad feng shui messes up their inner peace. It triggers them to do something about it. They can choose to care, blame, or ignore.

These types are not naturally good with emotions. They use logic and reason to better understand and gain a sense of control, in order to avoid these bad feng shui vibes from happening.

Most of them actually hold very strong values and opinions about how the world should behave, therefore need to devise solutions so that everyone, with them included, can get along.
