rereading my own writing is just a constant fluctuation between "damn, girl, you wrote this? (affectionate)" and "damn, girl, you wrote this? (derogatory)"
Can you recommend any books about non-binary identity other than your own? I just finished "Gender Queer", and intend to buy a copy as a present for a family member who's trying to wrap her head around the concept, but if you know of any other material on the subject I'd really appreciate it.
Hello, yes! Here are some other books you could try:
Sissy: A Coming of Gender Story by Jacob Tobia, a prose memoir
She Wants It: Desire, Power and Toppling the Patriarchy by Jill Soloway, a prose memoir
A Year Without a Name: A Memoir by Cyrus Grace Dunham, a prose memoir
Carework: Dreaming Disability Justice by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, a series of prose essays
Femme in Public by Alok Vaid-Menon, a poetry collection
Pansy by Andrea Gibson, a poetry collection
The Gender Creative Child: Pathways for Nurturing and Supporting Children Who Live Outside Gender Boxes by Dr. Diane Ehrensaft, prose nonfiction
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Leguin, prose sci-fi
Out of Salem by Hal Schrieve, young adult fiction (light horror elements)
Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl by Andrea Lawlor, literary fiction
Grease Bats by Archie Bongiovanni, slide of life humor comics
Across A Field of Starlight by Blue Delliquanti, sci-fi comic
All of the above are books I have already read. Below are three I haven't read yet, but they come so well reviewed I feel confident recommending them:
Beyond the Gender Binary by Alok Vaid-Menon, nonfiction prose
Fine: A Comic About Gender by Rhea Ewing, nonfiction comic
Gender: A Graphic Guide by Meg-John Baker and Jules Scheele, nonfiction comic
I was delighted to design this year’s Sonoma County Library Staff pride shirt! We had hoped to print it in color but due to some screen printing restraints we had to go with black and white. Maybe color next year? instagram / patreon / portfolio / etsy / my book / redbubble
This is my first album which I made for order. It was hard to made, I thought all of time that that is not good enough. But it is ready now and I will sent it to world. That is big, fat and heavy and it is full of pictures.
I will be signing copies of the new hardcover edition of GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR at the Santa Rosa Barnes and Noble location on Saturday July 23rd beginning at 1pm! The address is 700 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA, stop by and say hello if you’ll be in the area!

I’m doing a virtual book launch event for the Deluxe Hardcover edition of Gender Queer on Thursday June 16 at 4pm PST/ 7pm EST through Bluestockings Bookstore. This will be a conversation with Kori Michele and I am looking forward to it very much <3 You can register here on Zoom or though the Bluestockings website. Kori is the friend I did this Nonbinary Conversation zine with earlier this year. I signed a big stack of bookplate stickers and they will come with any copy of the hardcover ordered through either Bluestockings or directly from Oni Press, the publisher.
