Shuichi stood across from Ryoma at the podium, a look of pity on his face. "I'm sorry Ryoma, but all of the evidence points to y/n.." "Shut up" he growled, glaring at the detective. "Are you all stupid? Evidence can be faked, we all know that. Why the hell are you suddenly blaming y/n over one thing? Dammit, help me out here y/n!" He turned to you, confused as to why you hadn't said anything this whole time. You just stared at him, a strange look on your face. Then you began to laugh. It wasn't your normal laugh, it was hard, brash, and slightly psychotic. Ryoma knew in his heart though, it was the most honest thing that had come out of your mouth this entire game. "Wow..I can't believe how STUPID you were." you said, grinning cruelty at him. Ryoma felt like his entire body had been dipped in ice water.

No..this couldn't be true. He could've believed any of the students to be the mastermind, but not you. You wouldn't even say anything, you just kept smiling. That damn smile. That smile was what kept him going. It kept him going because he thought if you both made it out, there was a chance that he would get to keep seeing that smile again. All those nights where you had promised you'd leave here together, all those nights you two told each other that you wouldn't let anyone else die in this damn game. All those nights.... He suddenly resurfaced, realized you were speaking. That Shuichi was yelling at you, tears streaming down his face.

They had all liked you, not just him. Your kindness, your sense of purpose, your optimism. You had helped them all so much, kept them happy, kept them sane. Now they knew it was all a lie, every godforsaken word that had come out of your mouth was just to culminate despair. In a way, Ryoma found it funny. It was a clever plan, he had to admit. Befriend all of the students, make one of them fall hopelessly in love with you, it was clever. Not cruel, not psychotic, just...clever.

He didn't move. Not while in a fit of rage, shuichi had dove for you and you cleanly slit his throat with the knife you had in your sleeve, not while one by one, you took down the remaining students, until it was just him. You and Ryoma faced each other, separated by only the podium wall. He didn't move. Not as you taunted him, a mean smile on your face. Not even as you slashed his throat, psychotic laughter slipping from between your lips. Not in his dying moments, as he felt you pull the beanie off his head and skip away.

As you left, you looked at the beanie in your hands. It really was a shame, you had grown to like him. Ah well, the hat was something to remember him by.

You entered the infirmary nervously, looking around at the sleeping patients.. It had been a week since some of the island's residents had caught the despair disease, including your boyfriend Nagito Komaeda.

Mikan and Hajime had both warned you against going in the infirmary, just in case the disease was contagious, but you had decided you wanted to check on him anyway.

You pushed open the door, being greeted with the sleeping bodies of Akane and Ibuki. You quietly walked past them, looking to see if Nagito was awake.

You found him awake, sitting up in bed. He raised an eyebrow when he saw you, smiling slightly. "Go away." He said calmly.

You took a deep breath, groaning internally. You just had to remember that this was his disease, that he said whatever the opposite of what he really thought.

You just had to remember that. Remember that if he wanted you to go, it met that he wanted you to stay. "Hey babe, how are you feeling?" You asked softly, gently leaning against the bed.

He shrugged nonchalantly. "I feel great, can't you tell? Are we still in a killing game? I don't remember."

You sighed. ".....Yes, we are, I'm sorry."

He snorted. "Like I care what happens to either of us. How about you? Are you afraid to die?"

You paused. Are you afraid to die? You....weren't sure. Before you two had got together, you had been willing to give yourself up as a sacrifice if it met it could help the others.

But now? you didn't wanna die. You couldn't die if you were leaving him alone.

You sighed, gently brushing a strand of hair away from his forehead. "I don't wanna die, because I don't wanna leave you."

he stared at you for a moment, then sighed. "I hate you."

You smiled slightly, leaning forward to kiss his forehead. You'd just have to take that for now.
