if michael and dagon did end up being together I imagine itā€™s like they just slowly shift closer together while some big confrontation is happening and they just start talking shit and slowly everyone starts to notice but they are in their own world
until they realize itā€™s quiet and they stop and look around to see Aziraphale and Gabriel, but especially Aziraphale, having a shit eating grin on their face like ā€œsee?ā€ ļæ¼

Archangel Michael Changing Sides in s3 (?)
I don't have a whole lot to back this up but I've noticed that there isnt a whole lot of theories about Michael and Urielā€”especially Michael since Michael *is* one of the most prominent Archangels alongside Gabriel Raphael, Uriel, etc. And they knew that! Basically appointing themself as Gabriel's unofficial replacement (and its safe to assume that Michael expected to be the official replacement once they find (and then fire) Gabriel. Even AZIRAPHALE knew that, saying "Michael" immediately after the Metatron asked him about who would be the next Supreme Archangel. It seems like everyone is aware of this hierarchy. And the Metatron is very very aware of this hierarchy, needless to say, the bitch does NOT care. The Metatron let Michael play leader for a while and even let them believe that they're the next Supreme Archangel.
That being said, what happens to Michael now?
By the time s2 ends, Michael STILL thinks that they're going to be the next Supreme Archangel!! The Metatron made all the angels (except Aziraphale and Muriel) go back to Heaven. Michael is unaware that they are, in fact, NOT the next Supreme Archangel - but rather the traitor angel who has gone 'native' and, as far as they're concerned, immune to Hellfire.
Michael is also considered a prince of heaven, much like Gabriel. They're considered Chief Prince and would be the one to supposedly lead all the angels to victory against evil in The End Times (this role sounds awfully familiar). But now their role seems to be taken by Aziraphale. (Oof). So it seems like they will either be Aziraphale's right hand like they were Gabriel's (unlikely ā€“ and I'll get more into that later), or (the only other option) defy the Metatron's plans.
They know Aziraphale is as much of a traitor as Gabriel (trying to stop Armageddon AND "Fraternizing" with a demon!! ā€“ and Michael is aware that Aziraphale did it first anyway!!!) So, the Metatron appointing Aziraphale? It Does Not Make Sense. So either they take Aziraphale being Supreme Archangel at face value or NOT. Which will probably start a small Arc of them questioning Her Plans.
Not that Michael is all-innocent, either. After all, they're the angel who has direct contact - not just to *Hell* but to the *Duke of Hell*. Regardless of whether or not Gabriel knew about this contact.
Tumblr media
Michael seems to be cautious, hiding it from the other angels despite their authority over them. They know they're not supposed to "fraternize" will Hell, yet they do. And this probably won't be the last time they do it! Michael already has one foot in the door, just needs a push to get them through. That being said,
Tumblr media
They also provided Hell with Holy Water and brought it down there themself. Now, regardless of whether this was an agreement between Heaven and Hell to trade Hellfire/Holy Water, it's still striking that it was Michael who brought it Down To Hell, seemingly not even bothered by the fact that they're surrounded by demons. Michael - who, in Christian belief - being the one who led the army of angels who cast down Satan and his army of rebellious angels into Hell. Michael basically waltzed into the teritory of Every Person Who Hates Them Ever and didn't give a fuck. This may be due to their trust of Heaven/Hell's truce to execute two beings. Though I doubt Michael WOULD trust the truce (again, Michael walked into the Michael Hate Club HQ). No, Michael is aware of their power over the situation of their power over the demons because they've done it before. Being around a legion of them doesn't scare Michael, and they're probably prepared to smite any demon who even tries their patience. They were only genuinely worried when Aziraphale (as Crowley) went into the bathtub unscathed. At that point, Michael realizes that they have power against every demon in Hell. Except One. Which brings me to the next pointā€“
Tumblr media
I dont think Michael will play nice with Aziraphale being the next Supreme Archangel. And neither will Aziraphale to Michael. To put it in a parallel (kind of), Aziraphale probably hates Michael as much as Crowley hates Gabriel. Beelzebub may have put Crowley in trial, but it was Michael who personally brought down the Holy Water. Maybe Aziraphale expected something horrible from the demons ("You're The Bad Guys") but Michael? "Archangel Michael?"//"I made Michael miracle me a towel", no, Aziraphale is just as pissed, and I believe he's playing it down like Crowley. Aziraphale was surprised it was even Michael at all, not the Holy Water, the fact that The Archangel brought it down themself for the destruction of his beloved demon. (Ineffable Idiots is a separate post, honestly). And now they're supposed to work together to bring about the Second Coming while Aziraphale just took the Major Role that Michael would have played in it? That doesn't sound like they'd work well together ā€“ that's why, I think, they wont.
And here's more things to consider:
(Images via @noneorother )
Tumblr media
In the imageā€“ Composition is very important! But guess what- Michael is not just NOT WITH THE OTHER ANGELS but also ISOLATED on the OTHER SIDE! Their body is facing away from the other angels but towards Shax (who is now Duke of Hell by the time s3 rolls around, I suppose???) Which we know Michael has contact to (or knows how to contact). Theyre also facing the same direction as Gabriel, now if that means much ā€“ and this is a shot about as long as the Bentley/Aziraphale body swap theory ā€“ but the Va Va Voom Yellow paint was something they weren't even expecting people to notice so I'm taking this opportunity anyway!
Anyway, like I said earlier, Michael already works with demons and has been since s1. They obviously know how to access "back channels". With their dispute with Aziraphale, questioning why the Metatron appointed him of all angelsā€“ well, Michael has more than enough (albeit, selfish) reasons to do it again. (Sometimes a selfish reason is enough, worked with Gabriel after all) I wouldn't know what their plan would be but all their motives to do so are already spelled out for us.
And as a cherry on top
Tumblr media
On the next image, its pretty easy to see how the character/backgrounds are tilted. Most of them "line up" with their respective backgrounds-except for- you guessed it. Michael. (And I think Saraquel too?) BUT while the angels are tilting one way - a different direction than the rest of the gang - Michael's tilt is the same direction as the rest of them even though their background is tilting another way (like Uriel's). This can either be read as changing sides despite their percieved respective side - OR - they are playing both sides, or will be.
Either way, I don't think Michael will continue to play with the Metatron's games after the Metatron took away their biggest role in The End Times and gave it to Heaven's most notorious traitor.

*Good Omens 2 Spoilers*
I want to share my thoughts on the way Iā€™ve seen some people talking about Aziraphale since the season dropped(cliff notes: i donā€™t like it)
Tumblr media
i understand being upset with aziraphale i am too. i wish everything could be tied up in a neat bow all the time and all of the characters i liked got their happy endings right away, but thatā€™s not realistic. aziraphale has been under heavenā€™s thumb since before the earth was even created. and you might say ā€œwell crowley figured out heaven was the worst and couldnā€™t be fixed just like hell way early onā€ and yeah thatā€™s true but guess what?
aziraphale isnā€™t crowley. shockingly they are two different characters who react to things differently. whatever thoughts or questions aziraphale had he kept to himself because he didnā€™t want to be thrown from heaven into a ā€œpool of boiling sulfurā€ and be eternally damned. how strange šŸ˜’
i see people saying unironically that they hate aziraphale and will never forgive him for hurting crowley which is so mind boggling to me because aziraphaleā€™s first thought when heā€™s offered the job is to bring crowley with him. itā€™s his top priority. no demon has ever been reinstated as an angel, that has never ever happened ever. So yeah in aziraphales warped perspective he is trying to save crowley. he loves crowley too he just canā€™t admit that to himself yet because he has been told itā€™s wrong his entire existence (think of it like internalized homophobia. is it clicking now?)
he goes about it the wrong way entirely and he should have turned the job down and went after crowley but did you forget who weā€™re dealing with? aziraphale who in the 3rd episode thought he deserved eternal damnation in hell for lying to save the lives of 3 innocent children. heā€™s been so indoctrinated and heā€™s not going to unlearn that in a matter of 4 years. and yes i say 4 years because in 2019 aziraphale very much still saw himself entirely on heavens side (with a few exceptions).
like leave him alone? and if you hate him donā€™t come back next season seriously, we donā€™t need you here with us.
and also happy endings all the time are boring.

Welcome to:
We need to talk about Michael
The first post can be found right here, and I do recommend reading it first because otherwise you might not know what exactly I am talking about. As previously announced, we will now have a look at Michael, Uriel, and Gabriel in season two because our Archangels might not be as loyal as the Metatron thinks.
Part 2: Common Ground
I will start with the Apocalypse #2 meeting and the trial, since chronologically it happens right before season two, and we need the conclusions I will come to for later.
The plan for the apocalypse itself is something I've already talked about in a different meta post and there's even more to discuss, but to not get too off-topic, we'll leave it at "earth gets destroyed, heaven and hell go to war" for this one.
I don't know about you, but for me the trial has always felt... off, in a way, and I couldn't put my finger on why exactlyā€”now I have a theory: The entire conversation around Gabriel saying 'no' was orchestrated, not just by himself but by him and Michael.
Armageddon is prevented and Gabriel falls in love with Beelzebub, who is unfortunately the prince of hell and thus the Enemy tm in theory. Practically, heaven and hell work closely with each other, and which angel he knows has established direct contact with dukes of hell?
Michael.
So Gabriel goes to her and together they talk to Beez to come up with a plan, because Michael wants Gabriel out of heaven just as much as he wants to leave heaven. Michael wants his job.
The solution is surprisingly simple: Find a way to make Gabriel fall, who then gets to be princess of hell and Beelzebub's sugar baby, Beelzebub gets to be with Gabriel all the time, and Michaelā€”as duty officer and thus second in commandā€”gets a promotion, taking the role of Supreme Archangel; they can keep working on their own plan with even more resources and influence.
Now they just need to find something grand enough to make THE Supreme Archangel falls, and nothing is better than the Great Plan, or rather, Gabriel refusing to stick to it. This is how we land in the middle of that fateful meeting.
Obviously, everything I am about to show and explain comes down to personal interpretation, but it feels pretty sound to me.
Angels can lie. Angels can lie really well, especially Archangels whose entire job description is to keep up elaborate lies and cover stories in order to keep the system running. I watched the meeting and focused on Michael, her facial expressions, and the eye contact she makes throughout.
As they are about to reach the 'everything ends, amen' part of it, Michael and Gabriel share a look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get a wonderful close-up of Michael right after, and to me this looks very much like a smile, a tiny rush of excitement before they begin acting on their shared plan. Then another one when he closes his eyes. It is the timing of the looks that makes me think they're purposeful and not just casual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And apropos timing, I have re-watched the same two seconds at different speeds like fifty times now and Michael opens her eyes before Gabriel says 'nah'. BEFORE. Saraqael does not open theirs until after, but Michael opens them on his inhale, which sounds like the beginning of Amen, so she couldn't have known what he was going to say right there and thenā€”unless she already did.
Which means she was expecting it, this was an intentional acting choice on Doon's part.
The entire conversation after does not feel like a fight, it doesn't feel like Michael is surprised by his decision. The looks they give each other SCREAM sibling banter, and I know that because I see my sister and me in them.
"I told you you could ask" with that teasing grin and Michael looking up afterwards like "God give me strength to deal with this idiot". No anger, no disappointment, no confusing, nothing. Just mild annoyance over his behaviour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, when Gabriel drops his "only Archangel in the Universe" line, does Michael look angry? Furious? ANYTHING?
No. She smiles. It is all going according to plan and Gabriel is being a little shit, but she cares about him.
Tumblr media
Once we reach the cleaning roster, there are more looks.
Tumblr media
Like this one before we get a close-up of Gabriel, followed by a blink and you will miss it side-eye; then the lasting look Michael gives him, not annoyed but rather checking in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uriel sounds properly annoyed, she looks genuinely frustrated and upset with Gabriel, which makes Michael's behaviour seem even more out of line.
To summarize what we've got so far: Michael and Gabriel came up with a plan so he could go to hell and be with Beez while Michael would take over as Supreme Archangel in heaven. In order to do so, they had to find a fire-worthy offense, and saying 'no' to heaven's Great Plan and victory over everyone and everything certainly did the trick.
For now, it's all going according to plan. However, that won't last.
I am far from done talking about this, so with a big sighā€”disappointed but not surprisedā€”I will continue this in a third part, which will be all about the trial.

We need to talk about the Archangel Michael.
No, seriously we NEED to talk about Michael because I think she's going to be way more important than we currently think.
(quick side note: I will be jumping between pronouns for everyone involved because I go by vibes and also bc I'm trans and I like doing it. Hopefully it won't be too confusing, but I'll try to make it clear who I am talking about.)
So! Welcome back to Alex's unhinged meta corner. In accordance with the usual essay rules, let's begin with my hypothesis before we go down a long, probably very unhinged spiral.
I completely underestimated how thorough I was going to be, so to not overwhelm everyone with a miles long post, I will be dividing this meta into parts and will post them as I finish them.
A lot of small details have been fluttering around my mind over the last few weeks, and I think I am finally starting to put all the pieces togetherā€”and there are a LOT.
Part 1: Season One and Michael's Rank
We know them as one of the three (fourā€”but that's another post) Archangels next to Gabriel and Uriel. While Gabriel's title was that of the Supreme Archangel, Michael's is explicitly stated in episode one of season two as 'duty officer', which, broadly speaking, makes them the Watcher, the one in charge in the case of Gabriel's absence for whatever reason, taking command where he can't; usually that probably meant him simply being busy and not him being unemployed and naked.
Their position is further signified by their ring, which resembles the Ophanim, the many-eyed angel wheels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are the one to keep a literal eye on thingsā€”they find pictures of Aziraphale and Crowley in S1 in the Observation Files, they watch over the heavenly hosts, they oversee plans, everything.
Michael even takes it a step further and (presumably created) the grapevine with hell, having direct contact to higher ranking demons such as Ligur, most likely also Dagon, and Beelzebub.
This is where we get to my theory: Michael is actively working with demons against both heaven and hell. It doesn't mean that they care about preserving earth, though they might later on, but that whatever plans heaven currently has are to be stopped.
I'm going to take this one step further and say that Michael also knew about Gabriel and Beelzebub, and helped him escape.
Now to the fun part: the evidence!
In season one, they are interested in stopping Crowley and Aziraphale from preventing the apocalypse, but that does not mean that they agree with the plans heaven has for said eventā€”only that they need it to happen so their own agenda can stay on track. She has information she technically shouldn't, like, well, literally all the details about how, when, and what is going to go down
This is due to heaven and hell's general cooperation, which is its own post, but all of that runs through them.
Tumblr media
That 'apparently' is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, it's the basic and plausible deniability that's required for them to not be in trouble. She is also in charge of ORGANIZING the troops, fulfilling her role as a navigator.
Tumblr media
On top of that, the way she talks to Ligur highly mirrors the way two covert operatives might talk to one another, using phrases like 'our man' and 'working for you'. The mere assumption Michael makes here, that Aziraphale could be a spy, implies that there ARE already spies and angels working for hell.
Tumblr media
Consorting with the enemy is allowed as long as it is done within a very specific framework, so Michael and Ligur are free to do so, while Aziraphale and Crowley are working outside of it, which gives heaven & hell the basis to punish them for it.
I think the phrasing of this sentence is also quite interesting.
Tumblr media
Not "time to come back to heaven" or anything along the lines that takes Aziraphale's ethereal status into account, no, she simply says he needs to 'choose sides'ā€”and who is to say that he needs to choose heaven or that heaven and hell are the only sides one can choose? Additionally, Michael is the one to bring the holy water to hell while they send one of the Erics, and while the trial as a whole holds a certain tension, there does not seem to be any open animosity between him and the dukes of hell.
In short, Michael is working with hell behind the scenes, likely pursuing their own goals, and standing in opposition to heaven.
Moving on to season two, and here it gets REALLY fun.
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5
(hopefully it will just be five. it was supposed to be two. then three. but here we are)

Weird Michael's nails
This is probably nothing, but I noticed it during my latest rewatch and just can't get it out of my head. What's wrong with Michael's nails? Can be seen in s2e1, when they are examining the matchbox.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, I didn't expect glossy manicure, but these look like they were made like this on purpose? I specifically checked Muriel's, Uriel's and Saraquael's nails and they all look natural but well tended.
I mean, look at how immaculate Michael is. Why would anyone let them walk on set with nails looking so unkempt?
Tumblr media
The only answer I can come up with is this: this small detail hints on particular features of Michael's personality. While their general image is prim and buttoned-up, there is obviously a flaw in the seemingly perfect angel. It looks almost like they bite their nails? We know there is a lot of ambition here, but there are also insecurities and anxiety expressed in somewhat repugnant way.
