I think the funniest thing about the water being super haunted in hermitcraft 10 is that I don’t think this is a plotline they initially did on purpose. like they might be doing it on purpose NOW, I think they are starting to lean into it. but I think it’s funnier that I would FULLY BELIEVE that big salmon, pearl’s salmon cryptid, mending book and fishing shenanigans, gem’s dredge theme, keralis’s yacht, whatever xb is doing (honestly just assuming there are fish there), and anything else I missed just… all originally happened organically and independently. and yet, when added together. water’s DEFINITELY haunted. it’s so funny.

Anyways, disregarding that mess, I think more people should talk about qTubbo's rocky relationship with making genuine connections with other people. Like, the fact that he thinks that he can only have relationships if it's transactional drives me crazy. He genuinely thinks that people care so little about him that if he didn't have the appeal of his factories, then nobody would ever want him around.
Which then leads into how scared he is of other people being able to find love that isn't built on some kind of business motive. The thought of it scares him, if they can love each other like that without the promise of riches, what will become of him? Will he be worth even less for not being able to have something like that? And so he does everything in his power to try and separate them, without realizing that breaking them apart won't help.
And his friends consider it jokingly, they call him homophobic for trying to break them apart, but it's because qtubbo refuses to explain to them the real reason he dislikes this development, and his friends can't (or won't, depending on your view) look behind the curtain and are thus none the wiser. So we're just stuck at an impasse.
Which is a very long way of saying q!tubbo you NEED therapy

Welcome to a quick but important language lesson before our lovely Korean speaking members join the QSMP!
I call it:
“No, that Korean speaker is not casually saying the N-word.”
The Korean word for “I/me” is 내, romanized as “nae-ga”
The Korean word for “you” is 닉가, romanized as “ni-ga”
They are not saying a racial slur. It is literally the word for me/you. please understand the context, and get familiar with hearing these words all the time in normal conversation.
Read this article, this is what they have had to deal with in the west before.
Above all, extend grace and understanding to the new members and new communities. Research things yourself, and educate your friends about their language and culture to avoid misunderstandings. Realize that for many of these new people, this may be their first time interacting with another culture- let alone so many at once. They will be learning themselves, and may make mistakes. Be patient and for the love of god don’t scare them off. spread love <3

I love so much that Cellbit and Baghera *immediately* started clinging to Philza again and the way it emphasizes how much time has passed since most of them left Purgatory
Like to Philza he’s just excited to have his friends back, he’s just happy be someone’s neighbor, he’s recovered quite a lot with the end of Purgatory and honestly out of Bolas he was already the one who was most stable of the group* to be able to recover (most stable being used fairly loosely)
But for Cellbit and Baghera, this is a sudden and violent change in the rules and environment to everything they’ve known for… however long they were there, honestly. Time already kind of works weird on Quesadilla Island and I do not doubt that the Watcher has the ability to mess with it even more when in his own domain.
Even if not, it’s been a blended messy eternity of torture where they can only rely on themselves and had to do whatever it takes to survive, and so being thrown into a new world with none of their homes, none of the rules they know from Purgatory or before, and no clue how to do anything but cling to each other and survive, they see Phil- their fearless leader that kept them steady through Purgatory- and desperately cling to him hoping to find solace.
I don’t know what they- and possibly Charlie and Jaiden whenever they return- have in store but I do not think Bolas is out of the clear yet, and I think there will be a lot possible conflict and pain from the wounds that haven’t yet healed.
*Not including Foolish, who kind of had a loose moral compass and has had just as long as Philza to recover and kind of has a lot going on his story already, and probably Carre because we don’t really know how this all has affected his character

Ok, so on the one hand all the trauma driven miscommunication between Philza and his bolas family sucks since I just want them all to be happy together.
But also I just imagined Cellbit doing exactly what Baghera is, tunneling under Philza's house, and the look on their faces when they break through into each other's tunnels, and then the instant we're in this together no one must ever know. And they build the most elaborate den down there, and it all goes fine until Philza finally decides he just has to build a storage basement...

QSMP Actors AU where Quesadilla Island is the set of a reality TV show, except only the NPCs (and a handful of Islanders) know it’s a TV show and the rest of them think it’s 100% real.
Quackity knows because he’s supposed to help guide the show in a certain direction if things get too chaotic / off-track, but he doesn’t know everything the production team has planned.
Phil knows it’s real because he’s observant and noticed the cameras & microphones on the first day. The crew let him do his own thing and break the 4th wall because the audience loves that he’s so self-aware.
Vegetta knows it’s a TV show because he’s been on other famous shows (cough, Karmaland) and he’s was invited by a member of the team (Rubius). He’s under the impression that everyone else knows it’s a TV show, but they’re super in-character all the time.
Wilbur knows, but also thinks everyone else knows. He’s MIA because he and his band had a tour-conflict nobody realized when signing contracts.
Fit knows it’s a TV show because a rival production company that does Survival-esque shows (2b2t) sent him to check out their competition.
The crew genuinely doesn’t know if Luzu knows or not.
Bad figured out it wasn’t real but keeps forgetting because he gets wayyy too in-character.
Maximus knows because he’s part of the crew. “Gordinho Gostosiho” is their way of interviewing the stars of the show without them realizing that they’re on a TV show within a TV show.
I think it’d be really funny if the Brazilians and French legitimately crash-landed on the Island in the middle of filming and the producers were just like “This is great for numbers, let’s leave them there and see what happens.” (This would also mean Felps is “in the know” now because he hung out with the crew while he was “kidnapped.” He just didn’t tell anyone about it when he came back because he thinks it’s hilarious).

Okay, so with Quackity Studios tweeting about adding new people and the need for tolerance and patience with people who don't speak English, let's just take a second and have a chat about what that's gonna look like.
First: you will hear things or read things on the translator that hurt or offend you.
This is inevitable. Do not immediately post about it. What you need tolerance for is hearing things that hurt or offend you and what you need patience for is figuring out of malicious intent was present or if this is a hill worth dying on right now.
As an example, we're pretty sure at this point that Korean is gonna be the next language added. The second person pronoun in Korean sounds a lot like the n-word in English. The n-word in English, if you're not aware, is like the single most offensive slur we have. It's not something that you want to hear unexpectedly. But also, if we get Koreans, they're gonna be using the word for "you" and English speakers are gonna have to be able to tolerate that.
On the other side of things, Korean has a complex system of honorifics and addressing someone without an honorific would be considered very forward and intimate at least if not very rude. None of the QSMP languages have honorifics though and only French really retains formality* so no one else is going to address them with honorifics unless they specifically explain it to people and walk them through it. That will probably be weird and uncomfortable for them and they're going to have to be able to tolerate that.
*Spanish and Portuguese do technically have formal vs informal but it's disappearing quickly in both of them.
These natural cultural clashes and pain points are going to be harder to overcome since we also know that at least some of these creators won't speak English at all so they can't just switch to English to helpfully explain things to us easily in a way we understand. We're going to have to deal.
So here's the thing: just because there can be cultural miscommunications and mistranslations, that doesn't mean that people can't also be assholes. How do you distinguish between the two?
Step One: Assume good faith. Assume that everyone in a given encounter is trying to communicate respectfully and compassionately and that a failure to do so can be overcome
Step Two: Don't get involved. Especially not in Twitch Chat. Two or more people trying to communicate through a language barrier does not get easier when they're also trying to wrangle hostile viewers.
Step Three: Are you sure you heard what you thought you heard or saw what you thought you saw? Did the translator fuck up? Is it a word that just coincidentally happens to sound like another word? If this is the case, the streamers can ask for clarification or use another tool and get it cleared up. Keep watching and see if they do.
Step Four: If they did say what you thought they said, are the streamers handling it? We had a thing a while back where Bad called some friends, including Bagi and Etoiles, uncultured because they didn't get a reference he was making and Etoiles was like "bro I'm French" and Bad apologized. That should have been the end of it, but I had to see people arguing about it for weeks. The problem was solved in 10 seconds.
Step Five: If the person is doubling down, are you sure this is something you can fix by yelling about it on Twitter or Tumblr? Would it be better to let people who actually know them talk to them behind the scenes? Pierre made a few missteps in the beginning of the server, Quackity said they had a chat, Pierre hasn't misstepped since. It's just easier to sort things out in private, one on one conversation than yelling at someone in public.
In short: it's fine to take note of behavior in case patterns start to emerge in it, but yelling on social media about how so and so is the worst person possible is not constructive.

"i'm saying this and it's explicitly supported by canon" thumbs up great
"i'm saying this because it's how i want to interpret canon" cool thank you for being clear that it's your own interpretation, that's rad!
"i'm saying this, and i know it's not canon or even related, but i just like it and want to talk about it" again, rad! thank you for acknowledging it's not related to canon, glad you're having fun.
"i'm saying this is canon because i want it to be canon but it is not at all what actually happened" okay so you see that's just lying

I adore the contrast of everyone meeting Phil's platonic husband and spending more time with him then seeing the differences between him and Phil cause we get moments like:
Etoiles hearing Missa wailing like a cat dying and protecting him and Tallulah.
Cellbit having to save him from mobs and keeping a constant eye he doesn't get lost while watching him annoy Roier.
It's just so funny comparing Philza Hardcore Minecraft who is a great player on many fronts compared to his wet cat husband who gets downed multiple times a stream and screams a lot but somehow you can't help but feel affection for him.

consider: hermit oli theorionsound, but he only ever appears in joe hills videos
nobody knows for certain whether he’s even on the server or not, the banners never updated with him on it, there’s no actual evidence of him being on the server, he just keeps appearing in joe hills vids and nowhere else
until, on the final day of the server, oli finally uploads a video onto his channel:
