inexplicably, xander found himself gravitating toward her; he was unable to avert his gaze away from her. after so many chance meetings—although they were fleeting, she still effortlessly captivated him—he was afraid that if he glanced away, she might vanish once again. surely, though, the universe had conspired to grant them every one of those encounters. maybe the fates were working in their favor. “well, at least we’ll be able to get in a dance and a nice, long conversation before my fairy godmother drags me back to reality. i won’t be happy to leave your side,” he remarked playfully, knowing there was truth to that. strangely enough, he did feel a kinship with cinderella in that moment. watching as she drew her thumb to her lips, he couldn’t help but be struck by how endearing the gesture was. without hesitation, he hoisted himself onto the counter, settling into a comfortable position. “i’d be more than happy to stay awhile. y’know, before i came to the party, i made a list of three things that would happen in the best case scenario: i would dive into pool, do karaoke, and see you.” xander leaned a little closer to gently bump her shoulder with his, his smile growing even brighter. “and now there’s chocolate, so it’s truly the perfect party. tell me—what must i say to be blessed with chocolate, oh great one?”

there was an almost musical quality to the laughter parting from the blonde’s lips — warm and dulcet, as if every colorful note of it had been dipped in honey and summer sunshine. his gaze and playful words, while spoken in jest, had left a fluttery feeling in the depth her stomach. she wasn’t unfamiliar to the looks people often gave her living in the spotlight, but with xander it felt a bit like he was looking at her with intent — nearly prying past the stoic exterior image that trashy hollywood tabloids liked to sale about the golden girl in an effort to see someone far more concrete and human. it was all rather unwavering the more she allowed herself think about it and once paired with the last tick of his list, she had become an inevitable victim of dusty rose colors that painted her cheeks. “i don’t believe that for one second, but i’ll go right ahead and pretend since the sole thought of you checking that one off of your list makes me feel like i at least contributed to something tonight.” brushing away some of the golden wisps that’d fallen into her face following the bump of his shoulder, sienna couldn’t help but finally take notice of their proximity. after all, the last time they’d sat shoulder to shoulder like this they’d been sharing a ride together at disneyland. he’d been nothing more to her than a passing handsome face in a sea of forgettable ones that day, but with each new encounter he stood out more and more. “undeniably true, but are you certain you want to know? because i can’t promise that i’ll make this chocolate journey easy on you.”

( ※ XANDER :
Tumblr media
even though xander had spent about a quarter of his life traveling, he still wasn’t accustomed to hollywood. his childhood homes lay in connecticut and new york, so the west coast was unfamiliar to him. new money—glimmering and shining and talked about rather than simply known—made every scene feel like one from a fitzgerald novel. he couldn’t help but feel bits of awe; everything seemed so novel. but then someone would voice something innocent yet shallow, and the awe would be replaced with familiar disillusionment. and right now, he had just been reminded that he was new meat. the other guests at the party were eager to question and poke and prod; xander was comfortable with attention, but he was no ken doll. he was too irritated to bother finding his shirt or towel, instead opting to escape off the patio and into the house. however, he didn’t expect to find someone already occupying his hiding spot. when she spoke, breaking through his surprise, he started. “oh, sure.” quickly, he shut the door, a cordial smile forming in preparation for another conversation. when his eyes finally met hers, though, he naturally drew closer. “sienna?” xander’s smile relaxed into an easy grin. “i’m glad it’s you in here,” he admitted with a chuckle. “luck must be on my side, at least at the moment.” there was no doubt that he’d wanted to talk to her—wanted to hear her voice for more than a quick hello.
Tumblr media
her eyes strained for a moment, but recognition found her eyes as soon as he’d drawn closer into the flood of light pouring from the kitchen, peach embalmed lips curving into a warm smile at the sight of him. from the curve of his jaw, the golden tufts of hair adorning his head, and the broadness of his shoulders, she finally managed to get a good look without any of the fuss and noise around them. she wasn’t sure if it was luck, though, as much as it was a fortunate stroke of serendipity that he had found her there, but she wasn’t about to complain. she’d been secretly intrigued by the male for what felt like weeks — so enchanted by their brief and sporadic encounters that she was beginning to think she’d made him up somehow. but then there he was again, traipsing back into her life in a way only fate itself could dream up. “just this moment? let me guess...at the stroke of midnight, your carriage will turn back into a pumpkin and you’ll disappear once more without so much as a shoe to leave me with, ” she mused, bringing the pad of her thumb to her mouth to rid of the chocolate remnant left upon it. patting the counter space beside her, she welcomed him over without much of a second thought. after all, who knew when she’d get the chance to run into him again? “here...come sit. stay awhile, if you’d like. i know i’m no party, but i do have a chocolate bar that i could perhaps be persuaded into sharing.”

@xcnders — tonight sienna was a wallflower; an outsider looking in on the blur of her glitzy world. quietly, she managed slipping away from the chatty group she’d been standing with and whom were still wrapped up in conversation by the pool to retreat inside the comfort of her friend’s home. nestled within the beautiful hollywood hills overlooking the city, it should’ve been the perfect place to kickoff summer and yet rubbing elbows and knocking back shots with half of young hollywood wasn’t what the actress ideally wanted to be doing tonight. the smell of sunscreen and saltwater still clung to her hair and skin as she entered the kitchen with bare feet, blue eyes growing bright as she grabbed a pack of chocolate off the counter meant for the s’mores later for herself. peeling back the wrapper, she hopped up onto the counter and indulged in the sweet escape — not even turning her head when she heard the french doors open up behind her, the sound of the music playing outside no longer muffled by her closing them. when it didn’t go away, she frowned. “mind closing that?” she asked, voice soft as she finally lifted her head to see who had joined her inside.
