A Half-Life

Does anyone else feel like you aren’t truly living? That you are living a half-life? Your body is awake, yet your soul lies dormant, buried under a sea expectations and regret. Everyday you wake up and begin to once again go through the motions that accompany everyday life, but it’s been so long since you’ve felt anything that you find yourself lost in the monotony and start taking solace in the one place ungoverned by the ideals that surround you. You cower in your mind, filling it with daydreams and books, hoping that maybe one day you will feel as alive when facing reality as you do when reading. Carpe Diem you think to yourself. But how do you seize the day if there is nothing to seize? How do you seize the day when all that’s left are straws that you so desperately grasp at?
