The Kou/Nina/Gato romantic dynamic might be my favorite. And i also like Kou+Nina as a couple and Gato+Nina as couple.
Yes, this is the most unpopular Gundam opinion ever.

Okay lets get something straight. Nina Purpleton is the ideal 'waifu' for many gundam fanboys. Gorgeous character design, intelligent and loves mobile suits. Her greatest sin is supposedly 'cucking' Kou ( she doesn't but for the argument ill use that word), so the fanboys end up hating her along with their should be self insert mc. I say should be because 9 out of 10 a Gundam mc is a wish fulfillment/ self insert of some sorts but in their eyes Kou fails because he doesn't get the girl as the prize in a nice neat bow. Like Shiro and Aina.
Instead 0083 subverts the audiences expectations by making everything messy, the battles and the relationship's. Which is why its my favorite UC OVA.
So yes, Nina is the gorgeous woman that doesn't end up fulfilling the fantasy of the audience that they crave. She doesn't end up doing what the audience thinks that a character like her should do, so they end up lashing at her like its personal.

Headcanoning Reccoa as a lesbian is very much ''getting the female character out of the way of a yaoi ship''. There's no need to be jealous and handwave the women that Char is involved with all the time. He's only a cartoon character ladies.

Quattro and Reccoa's relationship is really fascinating because its so realistic, however most of the discourse about them that i've seen is truly awful.
Even to this day a large percentage of people think that Quattro and Reccoa were never a couple, when it was very obvious to me when i first watched Zeta that their body language indicated that they were together. And Tomino added more scenes of them in the Zeta movie. And he confirmed that they were lovers. And the Zeta Define manga shows us that they are together.
It's one the easiest Tomino subtleties to spot.

I never understood why Gundam fans are to this day still confused about "She could have been a mother to me" line.
Char lost both of his parents young and in really a violent way, of which he never healed from . When you understand Char's attachment to his family (father, mother, sister), you understand his actions, behaviors and a basically most of his character better.
It's unfortunate that this has to be said but the Gundam fandom is filled with idiots.

I'm of the opinion the Charles's pov or opinions on B+L is not 100% objective or true. He's still on the outside looking in because its a relationship that's very very closed. He's made observations about them or about Leah before that ended up being not the case, so i suspect the author wants us know that even Bran's son dosen't know whats truly going on between them.
The part where Bran said that Leah never mentioned her buried child and him never asking was telling for me because it was him admitting to being comfortable and not poking the hornet nest. I think he views the times that we do see him acknowledging that he's hurt her as small hurts and therefore easy to overcome. Like talking to Samuel instead of her in cry wolf or other times.
Although i dont deny that Leah obviously sucks it up when shes hurt like we see plenty of times in the books.
Todays Bran/Leah thoughts:
-Leah specifically doesn't cross her arms because she doesn't want Bran to see her as more uncomfortable or defensive than she already seems. She doesn't want him to feel bad about it, which makes me think that its (his guilt when she is uncomfortable) something they've struggled with in the past.
-Leah specifically avoids being close to Bran because she's scared of the difference when he pulls away from her afterwards. Implying that this has happened before when he has been more affectionate/comforting and then later pulled away.
I'm not sure what all this adds up to exactly but I think a lot about how Patty mentioned that their relationship was a pattern of behavior they both fell into. And how he was extremely protective of her when they first mated- specifically saying that guilt drove him harder than love did. Like obviously Leah is my girl and I'm forever pissed at Bran, but I don't actually think that the distance between them was 100% Bran enforced (though I think he started it and had the power to stop it at any time); Leah also specifically hides her pain and her struggles from him because she doesn't want him to feel guilty and she doesn't want him to comfort her because she fears he'll pull away again.
Bran genuinely seems to have no idea this is going on until it is literally unignorable and is surprised/frustrated when she keeps rejecting his help. And like clearly part of it is a bit of willful ignorance since he's a smart guy and really doesn't want to rock the boat since their relationship is so fundamental to his mental health. But I geniunely think that, somehow, Bran had no idea how much he was hurting her and Leah wanted to keep it that way because she was afraid he would do something about it (Leave her, temporarily show her affection and then rip it away ect) and in a different way, was also very afraid of rocking the boat. Somehow this also added up to a relationship where Leah geniunely thinks Bran dislikes her and will eventually leave her and she is delaying that meanwhile Bran is frustrated with her because he doesn't understand her behavior and has no idea what's going on in his own marriage, but feels he can't say/do anything because he doesn't want Leah to leave him and changing their relationship might jepordize that. In Wild Sign, Bran reveals that he actually has no idea what's going on with Leah to his son with much embarrassment, he doesn't know her history or her feelings or anything really and realizes Leah doesn't want him anywhere near this extremely personal issue and that the pattern they've fallen into is not working at all actually and opens the matebond.
Anyway I could think of their relationship all day I swear.

The sheer rage and seething that Nina Purpleton elicits from the general Gundam fandom just makes me love her more.

Wow. It's a miracle. I just found someone who appreciates and likes Nina Purpleton like i do.
finding out niggas legit dont like nina purpleton is nuts. beltorchika is like, you have to work to dislike her because she’s so goddamn boring, but shes also so goddamn boring so i understand why people wouldnt love her. but nina??? shes one of the few uc women with an inch of interesting writing going on. almost all her contemporaries are like shallow puddles compared to her.

Continuing my Leah/Bran brainworms: I'm of the opinion that Bran has literally never let Leah do anything without protection. We know he was overprotective when she first came to him and I just can't see him backing off, like ever. For one, Bran is an extremely dominant wolf (literally the Most Dominant) who is extremely protective and I just can't see a world where this doesn't apply to his mate who he is hardwired to protect above all and whose existence safegaurds his literal health and all his plans. Like I don't even think Leah can leave Montana without layers of security or Bran himself. Even though Leah gives logical explainations for it, I can't help but notice that she brings extremely powerful dominant werewolves almost everywhere she goes outside of their town filled with dominant powerful wolves as like a habit unless she is doing something Bran doesn't know about/approve of. (Except maaaybe on shopping trips to the city but even then I /bet/ they are there somewhere)
But at the same time, I don't think Leah really has any idea??? She is surprised that he's worried that she ran off to fight a god??? But also from Charles internal monologue is so clear that Bran is protective over her and Charles himself (which means also every other wolf in Aspen Creek) has to tiptoe around her in certain ways to manage that. But she just... doesn't see it at all??? And so she has this obvious insecurity about her position that manifests imo in extreme jealousy (though I think shes a jealous person natural, her situation with Bran is pushing her and her wolf to extremes). I don't know if Bran is like hiding this from her to keep her "happy" (or at least maintain her current normative perspective on her life, which Bran might see as a form of keeping her happy or at least keeping her content to sta with him) or if her perspective has been so extremely warped his distance towards her otherwise has made her ignore or explain away all this or some mix of both.
And this manifests in a pinacle of miscommunication where Leah is convinced Bran is leaving her and Bran is convinced that Leah is leaving him wherein they both desperately want to cling to each other and have built lifetimes of awful habits to try and ensure that when in the end they could have just talked to each other.
