athena’s brows twisted together, head shaking as she looked back at solaris. “ i’m not fighting these creatures. there’s something here, something they feel we are threatening. we just. . . have to show them we’re not here to threaten or harm them. ’ the only problem with that, was. . . she had no idea how.
what the hell were they protecting up here? what could possibly mean so much that feel threatened by the mere presence of the outlanders.
“ can we. . . i don’t know, clear a path or something? they’ll lead us exactly to what their protecting, and then, maybe we can form some understanding of sorts? ’ she was very aware of how crazy it sounded, eyes pleading with solaris as she did finally look up at her. “ they don’t want to hurt us sol. ’
She wasn’t sure, she had a duty to protect her people, she needed to protect these ones, too many had slipped away through the cracks but her eyes, Athena’s eyes were pleading, in an enemy Solaris would see such eyes as a weakness and her prey would have no chance. Athena was not her prey, and someone that Solaris had grown a mutual respect for.
Her raven hair pulled back into an intricate braid whipped around as she turned and shouted for the other outlanders to move against the walls.
“Make a path.” Sol shouted as it echoed through the walls.
“Stay against the walls.”
Looking back at Athena she nodded before turning back to her people and adding something to the warriors in the cave.
“gonplei, only taim emo attack”
“Fight, only if they attack”

open to outlanders on the sky cliffs.
this storm was going to be the worst they’d come across. athena couldn’t explain how she knew that, but she did. they’d made it to the sky cliff’s just in time to settle in. found camp just beneath one of the shallow caves, truthfully, they’d just made it, and it was a bit of a relief. for a moment at least. it wasn’t long before the beautiful creatures they’d only watched up above had come swarming in. everyone was terrified, literally. not just the outlanders, but the animals attacking them now.
every call they cried felt amplified within her own mind, her palms covering her ears as her knees buckled. it left her weak, never a good things when you look like an enemy to the screeching beauties hovering before them. she was so busy drowning in their cries for help that clouded her mind, she didn’t notice the others falling back, or the animals approaching. it was like a final warning was being shouted in her mind before one wing was swatting for her, claw dragging across the top of her chest ; they needed to get away. “ we’re the problem. . . ’ it was barely a whisper, her eyes finally preying witness to the animals that begged to be heard. hands slowly coming up around her head as she stepped back.
Solaris had to agree with Athena, they were the problem but there wasn’t anything they could do now, if they left the cave some may survive but she knew it was doubtful they all would. She was prepared to fight if she had to but she hoped that it wouldn’t come to that . Solaris looked over at Athena who was backing away from the approaching creatures, and quickly decided to make her way around to the other warrior.
“Athena, breathe you need to be ready to fight it if comes to it, we have to protect these people.” Solaris spoke calmly although inside she was a little frighted the chief wouldn’t let her voice falter, she would let the people know that the chief might just be as afraid as the rest of them.
She looked around for Kat & Iliana but the in the light of the cave it was hard to make out the others for a distance. Solaris thought she could give at least one of these creatures a run for their money if Athena was with her but there had to be another solution another strategy, looking around solaris noticed the torches mounted to the stick that had not yet been lit. Maybe they are afraid of fire she thought.

kat had barely spoken to solaris since their failed mission in tera. she didn’t blame any of them, she couldn’t. she knew how deep river’s stubbornness ran. they all knew the risks that were being taken upon involvement with the extraction. it was a risk everyone committed to take, and it was river that set the stakes. kat was a lot of things, but angry with kat, splinter, or athena, was not one of them. disappointed in sol’s choice to ignore katana since their return, possible.
“ things have certainly been better. ’ she comments, relaxing into her seat as she looked back at solaris. “ i’m assuming you want to know about the box? i’m surprised you managed to stay away as long as you have. ’
Of course Kat knew why she was here, she always knew, which was part of what made her a good leader, something Solaris never would be she was a warrior not a leader, that was way to much responsibility.
“Was is worth it?” was all Sol managed to say, she still didn’t feel comfortable being around their fearless leader.
What she had said was true, it had been hard for her to stay away for so long but the thing about Solaris was that she had a willpower mightier than she even knew, she was capable of a lot things, and it honestly scared her a little as to how far she might go someday. She would have to work up the courage however to ask the next question on her mind she was determined to do it regardless but all the same she wanted Kat’s blessing.

ωhεη: During The Squall (Pt.1) - 7 hours before the storm
ωhεrε: Arcadia
It came a little quicker than normal, the weather over these last few days was indicators of the incoming storm but this time it felt as though the gather storm has appeared quicker on the horizon. Solaris wasn’t sure wether it was due to the recent events or if she was just loosing track of the days. Lately her mind had been other places, she was finding it difficult to concentrate on even the most simple of tasks, all she could think about was how she left River behind. Just like she had left her parents.
“River.. I’m so sorry.” Sol uttered under her breath barely making a sound. “I’m coming for you I promise.” she continued as she looked up at the clouds gathering.
These clouds were like the storm clouds that Solaris remembered from her time back on earth, but somehow more mystical darker if that was even possible. It was times like this where every outlander was imperative to ensure the safety of the people.
Solaris & Fabian had been tasked with ensuring the safety of all the animals and buildings during the coming storm, as leaned against the wooden pole outside of tannery waiting for Fabian her eyes once again drifted to the sky, there was a storm coming, and she couldn’t help but feel this one would be different.

there weren’t many things lukas was afraid of anymore. his emotions had dwindled with the conclusion of remembrance day, fading into dust until he felt nothing at all. to become numb in a world that he was so used to hating gave him a taste of freedom, an ounce of it that he’d longed for ever since leaving tera. the outlanders were his family now, but he also had some back within those walls. whether or not he mattered to them anymore was up in the air, but he chose not to think about it.
“ can’t do it alone. ” he wouldn’t scold her or invalidate her feelings. across the outlands, there was a lot of unrest & hatred boiling beneath the surface. one failed plan & everyone was ready for war. with those creatures on their side, maybe they stood a chance. “ time & place, sol. gotta get ‘em while they’re weak. ” monotone becomes his new normal, voice just about as steady as his hands had become after teaching himself the ways of a sawbone. he’s not against another shot at weakening tera, but he’s also not gunning it for them. things were fine as they were, at least for him. “ have you talked to katana ? ”
As much as she hated to admit it Lukas as right there was no way she could do it alone, and honestly that was probably the only reason that was keeping her from doing so. That didn’t mean that she couldn’t hate it.
“I bet I could give them a run for their money though.” she smirked. Making a brief joke before the sadness returned to her eyes at the mention of Kat’s name.
To be honest Solaris had been avoiding her like the plague, she still felt responsible for River not coming home, and if she were in Kat’s position she would not have wanted to look at her or even be anywhere near her. Sol had failed in her eyes and that was something that she wasn’t used to.
“I can’t.... I can’t even look at her Lukas. It’s my fault that River isn’t here.”

protecting & catering to others was hard work, but he was a sawbone. between people still recovering from the events of remembrance day & the sudden drop in temperatures, there was a high demand for the doctors of the outlanders, for the people who had discovered ways to heal others with what they were given. they’d had stuff happen over the years that challenged their skills, but everything still seemed new.
“ good. ” he murmured, glancing over his shoulder at the female before shrugging. the past month had been lonely for him. losing helena, losing his mom… he thought he’d finally started to mend what was broken, but that was all ripped away from him yet again. “ i think i’m good for now. just about everyone came to get more blankets, but i’ll be here all night, if you wanna stick around. ” he didn’t mind the company anymore, especially since solaris was practically family by this point. “ how’re you feelin’ with all this going on ? ”
People didn’t often ask Sol how she was feeling or how she was coping with things, it was probably because they thought she would bite of their heads or they just assumed that she was okay with everything because she plastered on a brave face and carried around a deadly weapon. But that was why she enjoyed Lukas’ company he wasn’t afraid to ask those questions like most in Arcadia and the outlands.
“I want to kill them Lukas.” she murmured as she found a place to sit.
“I want them all dead.” her stare was blank but there was a hint of sadness there which she very rarely let come to the surface but with everything going on in her head it was getting harder to keep these thoughts under control.

dulcesatana:

location arcadia.
things had been difficult without river. she was the closest kat ever got to opening up. it didn’t help that they couldn’t seem to find a way into the damn box that she got herself locked up for. she didn’t blame anyone, really—- except maybe river, and that was only the nagging little thought of i told you so. it doesn’t change that river was still right in the choices she made that led to her capture. they’re lucky they got away with only a few of their people missing, but that still isn’t enough for katana. she can’t find a way to be okay with any of it— how could she?
and still, even with the mess of thoughts slingshotting around in her mind, she’s offering a smile to the outlander that’s moving towards her. her open door policy proving to be all the more true since their return. “ is everything okay? ’ aside from the obvious.
@terastart
Solaris had dropped the box off and had pretty much done everything to avoid Kat, since. She knew that she missed River, and Solaris couldn’t help but feel partly responsible for the events of what went down in the walls of Tera after all she did leave River behind, and she was worried that Kat might blame her as much as she blamed her self. But she had to know if it was worth it. She moved towards the brunette for the first time since she handed her the box.
“As good as it can be considering. You?”

He knew that voice; Kade didn’t have to see her face. He knew Solaris when he heard her. Could pick her out of a crowd with ease, just on the timber of her voice alone. What was she doing on her own, with those things running around? He didn’t know, and he didn’t really have time to think about it either. Making sure she was alright was most important. It was all he could offer; it was all he could afford her.
Kade allowed his gaze to shift towards her, watching as she got to her feet and he felt himself relax seeing that she was okay was enough. He wasn’t even worried about himself. Since those, things attacked he’d been trying to help as many as he could get away from them. Only seeking out the protection of the blood woods’ shadowed edges to catch his breath before he had to go back and search for Lilith.
Now, with her hand still in his own. A familiar feeling came back; Kade knew she could take care of herself. She’d always been able to do so, but that didn’t change the sense of needed to look out for her.
“You know me,” he began, voice lows a hint of amusement in his tone. “Never get knocked down for long.” he tilted his head, catching a glimpse of her silhouette. “You need to get out of here, Sol, take the people you can and go. There is no fighting those things.”
She unwillingly dropped her hand from his he was right, she had seen those things, the way they moved how they attacked, they were quicker than anything she had seen before in the blood wood stronger too. She was never one to shy away from a fight but maybe this time she would have no choice, if wasn’t often that she doubted her skills, but these things were different. She was a warrior yes, but she wasn’t stupid even she knew she had limits even if she didn’t let the others see that.
Her eyes drifted up to his. That was a bad move, the familiarity she found there was comforting almost a little too much, this wasn’t a time for comfortability this was a time for fighting for strength not weakness cause by a gaze. She was relieved to hear he was okay. She broke the gaze and looked away.
His words cut like a knife the people weren’t her mission, this stupid black box was the secret of the black box felt like it was burning through the bag that contained it.
“I...I can’t.” she stammered looking up at Kade once again a sort of sadness filling her eyes.
She had to find Katana give her the box and then she could help her people, Katana was her main priority she had to tell her about River.

splinterapollo:
CAVE-IN
Location: Mt. Lumina.
Side: Outlands.
Open for: All Outlanders
The thing that separates Mount Lumina from everywhere else that Splint finds himself lost in, is exactly that. He can get lost – the Sky Cliffs are a little too known now, most crevasses climbed; busy with those training to slip through without having to engage in the usual banterful and aggravating conversation that he lives for. Arcadia’s busy, lively – like there’s something a little more than grey clouds overhead that they’re hiding; not their fault, his more than theirs. Practically blameless is the citizens when it’s not their directive to act and protect to the same degree those who had jobs that day were – Splint wonders what Rory and River are thinking of them now.
Boots scratch the dusty floor between uneven openings of Lumina, Flint’s trying to recall his steps as he makes them – so he can find his way out again, crawls into small openings, ducks and dives under the more jagged of edges as streams of light don’t quite make all that’s ahead visible. He’s caught his bow on a couple rocks already, has to manoeuvre to compensate for it and his quiver strapped to his backside because he simply refused to leave it behind. There’s this rumbling he’s sure he can hear, shakes the cliffs under his hand as the chalky outer layer of Lumina brushes off on his palms and leaves them an off shade of orange – reminds him of some kind of sandstone; at least busies his mind from everything else.
Until that rumbling loudens beyond the point of ignorance.
Comes at him fast as he clambers over a dusty rock and hears it levelling off above him.
Landslide – or at least, a weakened part of the Mount coming down. Instincts kick in, he dives forward along the thin lane, rolls without thinking of how much momentum he’s given and hears the crashing of shattering rocks behind him – a sharp pain that nicks at the back of his calf when he spins around to see the damage. Hopes its not enough to block off his route.
But he sees a figuration first.
“Hey – move!” Shit. Lurches forward like he’s some goddamn hero who won’t feel the pain of crumbling rocks if they hit him, Splinter collides with something – whether it’s the person, he’s got no idea, but there’s no agony, yet.
Apollo hits the ground, grunts at the force, one arm above his head as though trying to stop the any major damages before he assesses the situation. He’s still calling out: “Are you blind? – I mean, OK, but –” he’s stammering because he’s panting; rise in adrenaline where he’s gradually realising the ranger might have to come up with a new exit strategy from the Lumina. Doesn’t even think about how he’s still practically on the floor himself. “Are you OK, is what I mean,”
This was her alone place, her thinking place were her facade could drop, no one really came up here not when she was around anyway. She didn’t have to be Solaris the warrior, protector of anyone else up here she was solely responsible for herself and herself alone. It was a sort of a connection back to everything before when her parents were still around when they lived on earth. She would hike through the mountains of the various countries that she visited the orange dust emitted from this particular mountain reminded her of the Australian outback at time when she was careless, a time when she was free.
Sol was so lost in her head that her usually attuned senses were not activated like normal, her mind was a battlefield ridden with corpses, a product of her ongoing war with the council. She thought of River of Rory, what did the council want with them. She thought of the council and their smug little faces, of how they promised to take more of their own if they were caught near or fraternising with a Terran. She thought of Kade, from the night of attack, something had changed in her shifted in her anger towards him, which confused her because he was supposed to be the enemy. The perpetual cycle of names as faces were spinning around so rapidly that she didn’t even comprehend what was happening around her until she felt something hit her hard and shoved her over and to the ground. Solaris only stared in disbelief. It was like her mind was paralysed, finally the cracks beginning to appear on the surface from the pressure it was under it wasn’t until he spoke that she snapped back to reality out of her trance like state.
“I.....ummm.” she was embarrassed, she hadn’t wanted anyone to see her like this she was meant to be strong a fighter least of all Splint.
She waited for the incoming joke for some smart ass remark about having to save her ass. But she didn’t feel up to the banter to be honest she didn’t know what she felt, but she hoped he didn’t notice how weak she had just shown herself to be.

drakekalashnyk:
TOMATOES.
Location: Ranch.
Side: Outlands.
Open for: All Outlanders.
[Triggers: Eyeball Horror/Ideations?]
Drake’s never been the best of cooks – Delilah’s the chef of the two of them, but he likes to think he’s got the better taste. (he managed to wife her afterall, whilst she’s stuck with him.) And whilst the sawbone traipses through the farm, it’s noticeable that he’s busying his time with greenery and falsely posing as a greenthumb. Kalashnyk’s just waiting for the yell of Medic, stat, that encourages his move to the medical tent. Craves that sensation in his chest that comes when he’s got control of life and death again; a little twisted in his intentions when faced with those on his operating table – in the outlands case, the makeshift kind. The doctor has to settle for the ideations of such things instead, looks at the ripe tomatoes hanging on stalks, fastened in place by poles as vines wrap around and make prey of the fastening.
He imagines wrapping his fingers around it, squeezing the juices through fingertips – a watery red that’s not quite the same shade as the one he’s fantasising over, but it’s the right kind of texture to swap it out for an eyeball, how easy it is for even just a fingernail to slip and split the delicate folds of one of man’s favoured organs. Last thing they ever see, Drake hovering over them with a hint of a smirk, perhaps.
But whilst he imagines that, the tomato he plucks from the vine isn’t cut by his nails, instead – bitten into, squelches with a vigour that when he pulls back from the edge of the Ranch’s field, there’s a shadow in his peripheries, obscures the sun beaming down on him whilst warming the back of his neck.
“You should try one of these, they’re ripe,” he remarks with some afterburn of amusement to ihs own thoughts. Drake’s not considered the act of actually taking one unpermitted, but he’s sure someone would have told him prior to walking up the lengths of the fields on his exploration, not to help himself – though it is just one tomato. Thumb comes up to his chin to catch the stray tomato juice before it spills down his top, side smiles the newcomer as though he hasn’t just turned fruit and vegetation into something its not.
He debates looking for the squashes next – stomach growls quietly at the thought, knowing Lilah’s probably got something already on back at their place. Kalashnyk takes another bite of the half destroyed tomato, glances at the stranger now; waits for their input, if they have any.
The way the tomato juices released in his mouth and dripped down his chin and covered Drake’s thumb reminded Solaris of the way that blood dripped down her sword through her fingers after a kill and she felt oddly comforted. The fact that she found it comforting was probably enough a cause for concern however she had become a warrior and a damn good warrior at that, that no one really asked questions, but if they had known her before... but the was almost to inconceivable to imagine she had become a product of her circumstances, oh the hate and rage that flooded her mind, the need for vengeance that flowed through her veins.
As Drake spoke she kept silent, she had no intention of enjoying the ripe tomatoes even if they did look so good, she was working on patrol, since everything that went down in terra, Solaris was being more careful, patrolling more places, she was not going to let another soul be kidnapped by the council.
“Don’t stop on my account.” she smirked.

stacks of blankets had been neatly placed on a makeshift shelf as lukas took inventory of how many they had left. he wasn’t quite in the mood to deal with treating hypothermia, so they’d have to make do with what they already had. “ tonight’s supposed to be worse than yesterday. ” the thought manifests verbally, brows furrowing as he turned towards the other. “ this fuckin’ weather blows. ” he mutters, hand lifting to scratch at his temple lightly. “ you need another blanket ? we got a few left. ”
The weather outside was getting worse, and Solaris wouldn’t be lying if she said she was here only to check up on Lukas and see it he needed anything it was also to catch a break from the weather. Lukas had become some what of a brother figure in Solaris’ life although she was an only ever an only child the outlands had changed her.
“I’m fine. I got a good furs back home.” she said looking around at the near empty shelves. “I was just seeing if you needed a hand.”

“I have no doubt on that.” Anything up against Solaris would probably come out the other end grateful to be barely clinging to life, not that he suspected she’d left this creature alive if there was a choice. If there was someone he’d expected to see standing well and alive after the fighting was done, she was one of them. “Wonder if we can take one back and cook it.”
He blinked the stars from his eyes to focus on the chief warrior as she looked at their fallen. He wondered how their losses ranked against the Terrans and hoped selfishly. “Just the council? Those sentinels are a little…” he made a face as if he had just tasted something bad, “you know?”
Solaris scrunched up her face, at genes words. Her mind was brought back to the smell of the creatures gooey insides upon being slayed.
“I mean if you want to, go for it but I will pass, they smell nasty.” she responded with a slight smirk.
“It kind of reminded me of the insides of a stink bug. I definitely would avoid kissing someone after eating that thing.” she spoke in almost a laugh.
This laughter didn’t last long as gene spoke of the sentinel. The rage returned to her eyes as she looked up at him.
“I’ll kill them all.”

WHERE: In the forest outside the gates of Terra
WHEN: During the events of the Culling.
WHO: Solaris Luna & Kade Bishop
terrantides:
Kade jumped at the voice, seeking out the wood’s dark edges in the hopes that maybe. He could catch his breath; those things were everywhere. What even were they, but he was paying attention. Noticing how they moved about. Responding to sound and not what they saw. It was information that he was hoping to make use of potentially. But it was hard to do with so many running and screaming, blood and bodies spread along the field.
He was so focused on what to do. The words didn’t register. Or at least he thought not all of them did. There was muddled but Terran o Outlander. That stuck out to him. It sounded as if it was a question, but he could be sure? Shifting slowly towards the voice, he listened again. Eye zoning on the approximation that he believed the voice was coming from?
“Hello, who’s there?” low tamber of his voice drifting towards them. Maybe it was a Terran or an Outlander. It didn’t much matter. They would both need each other.
“Those things, they respond to sound or pitches I don’t.” eye narrowing in towards the figure. “Come closer, and stay quiet. Please, I can help you.”
That was the hope, Kade wasn’t sure if there was any helping anyone. This wasn’t how this day should have gone. This wasn’t how it was meant to be. Cowering in the brush, when he needed to be out there. Reaching a hand towards the dark , “ It’s alright, I’ve got you.”
Hearing another voice in the dark Solaris felt a little relief, it meant that whoever was with her was human not monster, the voice didn’t seem to understand her exact words, which meant that it wasn’t a fellow warrior. Solaris wanted to laugh at the words escaping the others lips, as if she needed the protection, she would probably end up protecting the other if it came down to it, but she was hoping it wouldn’t come to that, she had precious cargo after all.
She chose not to move just standing still listening for anything that could give away the identity of the other person. The voice was soothing, there was something about it that she quite couldn’t put her finger on it and to be honest it was bugging her a little, but so soon as his hand connected with her skin all doubt slipped away, his touch, that was something that she could never forget.
Solaris wanted so badly to pull away from the contact, but it was as if his skin was a magnet pulling her in. The words I’ve got you playing over in heard head it was like she lost all focus. She couldn’t even manage to find the words to speak or say anything, slowly standing up next to him by the tree she leaned her back against it and breathed silently and slowly. Suddenly she was thankful that the box was in her bag slung across her back, maybe that was why he was here to get the box, maybe they sent him after her. She would pretend to play dumb if he asked, he was the one Terran that she couldn’t stand to hurt.
Finally gaining the courage to speak she silently whispered.
“Are you hurt?” she shouldn’t be concerned about him, he was the enemy but she just had to know.
