~SomehowIManage on AO3~Current waitress and writer :) | Ex college student, choir manager, and career ambassador. :(I am Book of Mormon and McPriceley trash. My favorite musicals are BoM, Falsettos, bare: a pop opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Dear Evan Hansen. I’m also really into Schitt’s Creek, Puppet History (and all of Watcher tbh), Buzzfeed Unsolved, the Percy Jackson books, 90 Day Fiancé, The Good Doctor, Derry Girls, The Resident, Mindhunter, Prodigal Son, Lucifer, South Park, Harry Potter, The Office, Glee, and Parks and Rec. If you want to geek over these interests or anything music related, hit me up. ~Break the stigma of mental health!~
If anyone who reads What’s to Come is Still Unsure sees this, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. The next chapter is probably going to take a while. I’m going through a breakup and the last thing I really feel like doing right now is to write a love story. I’m okay, but I need some time to heal. There’s no malice towards him whatsoever. He’s a good person. But it still hurts. Thanks for understanding.
It's been a year and a half or so since I've been in a room full of people so this isn't a recent story, but I thought about this while talking to a fellow introvert friend. Do any of you have to take breaks from social gatherings to just stand all alone in the bathroom and mentally recharge?
there’s literally nothing more fun than being kind????? like? making someone feel loved and appreciated and seeing them smile and hearing them giggle?? sign me the fuck up
I really don’t like how society demonizes crying. You’re seen as weak or manipulative if you shed any tears at all about anything. People look down upon you if you cry, or think you’re “faking for attention.” Even in the media, a character learning not to cry is considered good character development, and a character who does frequently cry is portrayed as weak or cowardly.
The truth is, crying is one of the healthiest coping mechanisms humans have for stress. It’s been scientifically proven that the chemical composition of emotional tears (compared to basal and irritant tears) purges stress hormones from the body and produces a relaxing effect at a biological level. It’s also nonviolent (more than can be said for the more socially acceptable anger response). Humans evolved to cry for a reason.
If one isn’t allowed to cry (if they would be shamed/abused for it), the stress hormones will build up and cause illness later on. They will have to force themselves to cry because their first instinct will be to repress the tears. They wouldn’t be able to cry in front of people anymore, either.
Go ahead and cry if you need to, for whatever reason. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
i witnessed the most fascinating thing today imo…my 4th grade art class were talking while they did their work and one of them was like “if you work hard all your life…….it means NOTHING” and their response was to all crack up and start running with this bit like. “you work all your life on an oil painting. the mayor comes in. he says ‘i didn’t even ask you to do that painting.’” they kept going giving examples of nothing mattering and laughing hysterically. they’re 9. like, we think OUR humor is depressing or w/e, how are THEY going to be
