It just makes a lot of sense why Marcille and Laios would be good friends, really, because Marcille Will Tell You What Is On Her Mind. If she doesn't like something, she throws a tantrum. If she's down to clown, she clowns like a champ. If she has an opinion, she voices it clearly and concisely. Laios knows exactly where Marcille stands in pretty much every topic.
On Marcille's end, she's down to clown more than people give her credit for. Laios said "yo let's play with these bones and rearrange them in funny ways" and Marcille joined right in. Like, yeah, she'll want to bonk his skull in sometimes, but aside from the monster and dungeon fascination, she's pretty much in the same wavelength as Laios when it comes to most things.
Which is cool! Because they could've made them hostile siblings in law but they are besties actually.

IMO you can't say anything coherent about most US-based right wing conspiracy theories without understanding how seriously the diehards in these movements believe in The Devil
the obvious question, "who benefits from maintaining this elaborate lie," does not stop people like Flat Earthers because many of them are young earth creationists who believe in powerful spiritual forces whose only goals are
1. convincing people that Christianity isn't true
2. the proliferation of largely symbolic Evil, which they enjoy tricking you into supporting
"tricking" people into believing the earth is round is enough of a goal for The Devil to go to all that trouble. if people don't believe in God's perfect little flat earth then they're also free to believe in things like evolution and the big bang
practicality and material concerns are usually irrelevant. the lie is worth maintaining because The Devil has near unlimited time, resources, and human servants, and his top priority is Getting You

The flip side of the post-World War II cries of “Never again” was an unspoken “Never before.” The insistence on lifting the Holocaust out of history, the failure to recognize these patterns, and the refusal to see where the Nazis fit inside the arc of colonial genocides have all come at a high cost. The countries that defeated Hitler did not have to confront the uncomfortable fact that Hitler had taken pointers and inspiration on race-making and on human containment from them, leaving their innocence not only undisturbed but also significantly strengthened by what was indeed a righteous victory.

sorry for all the toshiro posting but i'm thinking a lot about toshiro and laios and how, even though it didn't happen cleanly or neatly, laios was exactly what toshiro needed in his life. laios's socially-awkward ‘cannot mask to save his life’ autism was, in the end, was not a bad thing -- it was something that, deep down, toshiro was jealous of and through that jealousy it showed him the path to being more open and honest with others.
if laios had been different, i don't think toshiro would have realized what he needed to change to be happy. he might have gone his whole life never being able to be himself because he was so convinced that he doesn't matter. because laios didn't just frustrate toshiro to no end, finally making him snap so he articulated his true feelings for once in his life -- he also told toshiro he cared for him, wanted to be his friend, and that toshiro needed to eat and sleep. that he needed to care for himself, too. and because toshiro accepted that he had his regrets and wished he was more open like laios... he was able to be more authentically himself.
idk. that's really special to me. that laios being the way he was wasn't bad, in the end, even though so often not reading social cues is seen as a damning negative. if laios hadn't been flawed, idk if toshiro would have ever come to these conclusions.
