We are a community-oriented Nahuatl language and culture collective dedicated to educating individuals of all age groups. We continually integrate effective language teaching methods, with dedicated teachers, students and our commitment to our online and in-person community via Indigenous language revitalization, reclamation, preservation, activism, arts, and cultures across Abya Yala (North, Central & South Americas). With a strong commitment to Indigenous language advocacy and activism, our work is structured around the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Our core objective revolves around empowering our community via language, culture and the arts. We achieve this by facilitating Nahuatl language and culture classes, workshops and speaking engagements at colleges, universities, museums, community spaces and theater companies. These community engagements can be enjoyed both in-person and online to ensure accessibility for all. We also offer translation services that seamlessly bridges the gap between Spanish, English and Nahuatl. Our multifaceted approach embodies a profound commitment to preserving, highlighting and sharing the beauty of Indigenous languages, cultures and arts. Presentación con Ilse Cruz-Velasco. De sus propias palabras: "Nací en Oaxaca y curiosamente estudié “Lenguas extranjeras”. Después migré a Guadalajara y ahí me interesé más por las lenguas originarias de mi lugar de origen, entonces decidí hacer una maestría en Lingüística Aplicada en la UdG. Después de eso me apasioné por los procesos de mantenimiento- desplazamiento de las lenguas, la migración, la identidad, etc. Actualmente estoy en un doctorado en Ciencias Sociales en el CIESAS- Occidente donde desarrollo un proyecto que va sobre la resistencia lingüística de pueblos zapotecos en la Sierra Norte. También soy miembro del SEMLE (Seminario de Lingüística y Educación- Guadalajara) – COLMEX, donde en conjunto con mis compañerxs hemos trabajado con niños purépecha, nahua y mazahua en el contexto urbano."
