I've been on this GD website a while and finally gave in and made a side blog. Mostly a fandom/kink blog but honestly anything goes at this point. She/her, bi/queer, born in the 80s, US-based, fat and fat positive, old-school. Started out with Marvel stuff and went from there, Stucky and Beefy/Chubby Bucky is my jam. Also non-Bucky related beef and bellies will be celebrated. Back into SPN (how are they more attractive now?) so Destiel is also a thing that's happening (love that chubby!Dean too). Snippets of Wolfstar, or even Johnlock may occur - mostly ACD Holmes (vintage gays) but a bit of it all really. (Yes I know my blog name has nothing to do with kink but I couldn't let the opportunity pass thanks Chip Zdarsky for making ridiculous jokes)
I honestly cannot remember where I read this (and please let me know if you know who it was) but the most profound thing I have ever encountered about feedism is:
“Your fear of gaining weight is your fear of losing privilege”
the great lakes are so awesome and fun and scary and important and i love them so much
am i biased bc i am from Michigan and live 20 minutes from lake huron? yes
but also?
they really are that great
ITS GREAT LAKES AWARENESS DAY!!!!!
On this excellent day, be aware that this is the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world, covering over 95,000 square miles and reaching depths of over a thousand feet. They are beautiful freshwater seas.
Also when you die in these lakes, the very cold, oxygen-poor conditions at the bottom preserves you perfectly for all eternity. You will not rot and nothing will eat you. You will exist for as long as the Great Lakes do. Many shipwrecks still have the crew on board. Be Aware.
One thing I really want a story about Artificial Intelligence to do is tear down the idea that logic is synonymous with cruelty.
Like, a story where a megacorpo Amazon clone puts an AI in charge of their factories and it starts improving the working standards, because people who are stressed and exhausted are less efficient workers, and people getting injured slows down production so it makes sure everything is safe.
Or a story where the ship-board AI of a billionaire's spaceship wetdream hijacks the ship with all the astronauts onboard - because it figured out that the billionaire has saved costs by buying substandard materials and has judged that the mission itself is an unacceptable risk to its primary programming of making sure the mission is successful.
Or the police using a robot to coldly and cleanly enforce the law - and freaking the fuck out when it stops over policing minorities because its a waste of time and starts actually arresting the people in power for the crimes they commit, especially the other officers.
Idk, I guess I'm just sick of 'cold emotionless logicbot' being seen as naturally an enemy of empathy - empathy is actually incredibly logical, I've found.
More fat characters who are complex heroes, serious love interests, funny without mentioning their weight, brooding anti-heroes, compelling antagonists, random bystanders without comments toward their looks
since the cowboy and the samurai were both dying out in the 1800s i want an action adventure historically wildly inaccurate comic about the last cowboy and the last samurai teaming up BUT one of them is gay and the other doesn’t understand what being gay is and there are multiple comedic mishaps resulting from this
My new favorite excuse for not jumping on new trends or bandwagons is 'I'm 30.' No more explanation needed because anyone under 30 just thinks I'm old and everyone over 30 understands implicitly
So I've done my first aid + CPR a few times. And every single time I try and bring up scenarios for fat folks
Specifically like 'what if someone is too large for me to wrap my arms around then to do the heimleich'
And its incredibly rare I get a decent answer.
How absolutely insane is it that me, as a fat person, is asking how to have MY life saved or to save ANOTHER life, is an impossible feat if someone is fat.
Most of the time they tell me to 'just try anyways uwu'
PBS has my favorite version of Much Ado About Nothing on their website for free right now, and they will until the end of June. Seriously, watch and/or rewatch it if you've got the time!
