I leave tumblr just shy of a month and Aoife @harpyhormones, one of the best, smartest posters on this site and somebody I am deeply proud to call a friend of mine, gets harassed and banned. For nothing. Essentially by one transmisogynist with too much time on their hands.

It turns out all you need to do to have some asshole spuriously sic tumblr moderation on you is reblog a donation post they don't like. Want to keep somebody who's vulnerable from living on the street? Too bad, you get hate messages, and if you ignore them you get reported and have your decade old account wiped off the internet with nobody knowing where you went.

Which, even if you just don't respond, even if you just let somebody seethe alone in your DMs, within 24 fucking hours you get this:

Transmisogynists know that staff and this website's systems will work for them, and they're perfectly happy to abuse those systems to completely remove a trans woman from the website, quite literally overnight. Making a blocklist calling for a bunch of trans women (and anyone who ever reblogged from them) to get blocked and "k-worded" wasn't enough. Individual harassment and false reports are the next step. Of course, by virtue of the moderation being anonymous, there's no definitive proof of this chain of events, but seeing as how she was basically on a Tumblr hiatus when she got banned, and how it happened within a business day of getting that message, it's a safe assumption.

None of this is new. None of what I'm saying is anything but obvious to anyone who's been paying attention on here. I'm redacting just enough information to keep this from spiralling among people who aren't already aware of this huge clusterfuck that's now been going for like six weeks, but if you know, you know. How long is this person and others who act like this going to get free reign on here. This is absurd. It's infuriating. Staff better give back her fucking blog, I swear.
