Brief
Page1:
My final project is about poetry and photos.
Express the ideas of modern poetry and also use modern poetry to give my photos a deeper meaning.
Page2:
Introduce the background of the poems
Modern Chinese poetry
Modern poetry began with the poetic revolution in the late Qing dynasty.
Compared with ancient Chinese poetry, its development direction has changed greatly.
At the confluence of the old and the new era, the fusion of the new and the old made the literature of this period take on a completely different appearance.
Regardless of the form or content of poetry, modern Chinese poetry shows absolute freedom.

Contradictory&Rationality
The background of this poem is the most famous political movement in China, the Cultural Revolution.
In this revolution, the entire country opposed all literature and technologies, and thought became very conservative.

The relationship between art in the museum and the readers---The person is so close to me, but our thoughts may be so far away

Gu Cheng was a representative writer of misty poetry
The meaning of misty poetry is to pay attention to the expression of inner feelings and to use metaphor and implication in writing. It enriches the meaning of the poem and strengthens the imagination of the poetry.
Bei Dao is also a representative poet of the misty poetry. He has been nominated twice for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
‘Nightmare’--- express the darkness of The Times
--- feel terrible if it appears in the empty subway, late-night tram[træm], table knife, etc. in my dream
‘The Oranges Are Ripe’--- full of orange flavor
professor's post on Man Ray
I assume that water is solid sequins. The surface of oranges should have been covered with orange-flavored water mist, all of which turned into sequins.

Express the quarantine life.
‘Tightly-closed Garden’--- expresses the state of no one on the street,
‘White Butterflies’ --- shows my boring life at home "In the opened pages, Loneliness. In closed pages, Loneliness."
This group of photos is still inspired by man ray's Dadaism and Surrealism,
I want to take some uncomfortable and illogical photos.
Express photos in an unconscious way.

A fish is a painting
The painting is caught in its gaze
The fish's mouth is gulping
Biting my inner life
The fish says to me
Bring me some water
To let me swim back
Even if it is tears

I love this picture. The irregular aperture is lonely on the wall. The aperture consists of two parts of the wall, some of which have wallpaper and some of which are not. Why did you choose to shoot light at this angle, in order to make the picture feel so many levels? This sparked my thinking. However, the lightbulb appearing on the left is very abrupt, the lightbulb is the source of light, but when the source of light is told very straightforward, it seems that the whole picture becomes a story.
From Dalya
Where do we shine the light on what we see? What do we pay attention to? I find this image seizes me. So I need to go deeper into what it is that grabs me here. The light bulb, clearly visible at left. is demanding that I pay attention to what it illuminates. It casts a circle of light on a corner of a room. A door is visible, but in the time of COVID 19 doors keep us in and also allude to a way out. It lights up a stool, a place to sit, yet the place is empty. And the mystery of the obvious intention in making this photograph draws me to it. I continue to think on it and the lights used in interrogation of people are brought to mind. As creators we need to interrogate ourselves in many ways. The self-portraiture assignment may come to your minds. I wonder whether you all will read this and re-post it with your comments on this single image, a very potent one to my mind.

Self-portraiture is difficult to work because it implies that we show ourselves in front of others as we really are or disguised to hide. We must be ready to accept criticism or indifference and for some people here, it’s hard to show themselves.
It seems like no one of us like selfies, but we use a variety of methods to present ourselves in a comfortable way in front of the public.
We notice in each of the projects that there are recurring themes such as the mirror, movement, and color.
As photographers, many of us are used to being behind the camera rather than in front of it. Throughout our self-portraits and trying to figure out how to create the art with ourselves was an interesting challenge. After coming together and being able to witness each other's work really uncovered many similarities. While we had no idea what our classmates would come up with there were still underlying similarities and themes.
As we place ourselves in front of our own cameras, we remain fully in control and aware of what the outcome will be. When allowing yourself to be alone in front of your camera (remote or timer), you are left with the one thing so many of us tend to forget- ourselves. Self-confrontation is a deeply intimate and sometimes intimidating process. The very act of this assignment might be saying a lot about our own consciousness.

“You are so much more beautiful when you smile! This photo is so nice! I really like the angle and the meaning in this photo. :)” Marguerite
“Personally, I do not like to take photos of myself. I prefer to be behind the lense. I wanted to create a sense of parallels within my self-portraits. Here I did that with the use of makeup as well as the absence of it. I am most comfortable with this photo of myself in comparison to the rest, it sort of feels candid and a look into my POV/world.” Lola
“I don’t like to take selfie so that was a way to avoid it “ Prune
“I’ll never know what others see when they look at me. If perspective is based on familiarity, then why bother if I’m always changing, evolving, and growing.” Sabrina
“I just try so hard to take a selfie when I take shower, so I feel my eyelashes are so funny” Shihan
