CLASS :    Wizard SUBCLASS :    School of Conjuration BACKGROUND :    Some parts Criminal and some parts Sage FEAT(S) : TBA ALIGNMENT : Chaotic Good
LANGUAGE(S) : Common and Elvish, primarily, with a smattering of Halfling EDUCATION : General education in reading, writing, and arithmetic - later entered the Lady's College in Silverymoon to study magic on a scholarship. She focused on the schools of conjuration and illusion. Her studies there came to an abrupt end. RELIGION : Like many wizards, she venerates Mystra.
MOTHER : Sally Skipwith ( alive, estranged ) FATHER : Alec Skipwith ( alive, estranged ) SIBLING(S) : Conrad Skipwith ( alive, estranged ) SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S) : N/A, Open to Mutuals OTHER(S) : Glorian Dacaryn ( best friend, deceased ), Rupert Skipwith ( uncle, alive ) PET(S) : Her familiar, Rat. He's not always a rat.
HAIR : Red and curling, often gathered up on her head when she has enough of it - last year it was shorn when lice broke out in the prison and it still hasn't regained its length. It's got less of a curl, more of a wave to it there for awhile. EYES : A nice, warm brown - she likes to think of them as rather homey, comforting. HEIGHT : 5'8" BUILD : When the game starts, Tessa is too thin - years of prison food, lack of sunlight, et cetera. She fills out nicely as time goes on. SCAR(S) : Scars on her OTHER :  FACECLAIM : Sophie Skelton
Tumblr media
1462 DR : Born in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate, both of her parents work for the Caldwells, a wealthy patriar family. Her mother is a cook, her father the horsemaster. They're very proud of "their place" and don't believe much in mingling among "their betters". Little Tessa is a bit of a surprise, but is folded into the family's steady routine nonetheless.
1463 - 1474 DR : Her early childhood passes without very much fanfare. She spends much of her time in the kitchens with her mother - or she ought to be. She has a habit of sneaking out to explore the Caldwells' house to see all the fine things. She got scolded for it quite a bit, especially when little fingerprints were found on the freshly polished silver.
1475 DR : Her uncle, in the employ of a half-elven family in Silverymoon, writes of an open position as a scullery maid for a family in Silverymoon. Thinking it high time to put her to work ( and having had two more children since ), Mrs. Skipwith dresses her and sends her off to the Dracaryn household to serve. It's there she first meets Glorian Dracaryn, the only daughter, and in spite of their disparity in position the pair become fast friends.
1476 - 1479 DR : The Dracaryns adopt Tessa as their own, in a way - she is treated as a companion for Glorian as opposed to a servant. Her own family didn't approve and told her as much. Meanwhile, finally being able to touch and feel and hold the fine, lovely things around her s a heady experience for Tessa. The Dracaryns also make sure she had lessons alongside their daughter, believing Tessa's "work ethic" to be a good example for the sometimes flighty Glorian. But if she shirked other subjects, Glorian shares equal interest in magic with Tessa. Though privately, Tessa flatters herself she was much better at it.
1480 DR : Tessa wins a scholarsip to the Lady's College, bolstered by recommendation letters from the Dracaryns. Glorian enters too, and they become roommates and study partners - well, when Glorian remembers to study.
1481 DR : In what is meant to be a spell that will put pieces of themselves into matching necklaces - like a projection spell, but for each other, able to be carried and tied to the necklace's power - a tragic accident happens. There's a flash and a scream and when she can finally see again, Glorian is gone. Worse, the scream attracted the attention of another student and he is all too quick to run to the powers that be. The next happens in such a rush, Tessa barely remembers it. At the end of it all, she's expelled from the Lady's College and arrested for Glorian's murder. The Dracaryns only ask that she not be executed, but made to live the rest of her life out in prison. Why give her an easy way out, after all? Her own parents do not write at all.
1482 - 1491 DR : Tessa spends her time in prison. There are magic suppressants at work, but she manages to still keep the necklace - sending it away with her familiar just before being locked away. Nothing incites her to keep it but raw sentimentality, for she believes Glorian to be dead along with the rest.
1492 DR : Whilst on her eleventh year of prison, Tessa is suddenly snapped up by the Nautiloid and - tadpole notwithstanding - finds herself free for the first time in years. And what's more, the tadpole's powers lead her to discover that Glorian is trapped within her necklace, not dead at all. She teams up with the player character, intent on getting to Baldur's Gate not to get rid of her tadpole, but consult with the wizard Larroakan on the possibility of freeing Glorian.

GIVEN NAME :    Doriane Seasinger NICKNAME(S) :    Dori, Seasinger, and some seem to prefer "that elven bitch" at times. TITLE(S) :    Captain of the Storm’s Lady III.V AGE :    250 - ish BIRTHPLACE :    Unknown RACE :    High Elf GENDER :    Cis Woman PRONOUN(S) :    She/Her/Hers ORIENTATION :    Pansexual RESIDENCE :    Until recently, on the sea, aboard the Storm’s Lady
CLASS :    Sorcerer SUBCLASS :    Storm Sorcerer BACKGROUND :    Criminal FEAT(S) : TBA ALIGNMENT : Chaotic Neutral, perhaps slanting into Chaotic Good more often than she prefers to admit.
LANGUAGE(S) : Common, some Elvish, Infernal EDUCATION : Very little in the way of formal education. She never learned her letters, but she did learn everything a girl could learn about a ship and how to sail, and much of her learning of magic is instinctual and more like . . . training a muscle than reading a book. RELIGION : When at sea especially, she pays homage to Umberlee and wears a necklace with her likeness.
MOTHER : Unknown FATHER : Unknown SIBLING(S) : None by blood, but she and Zena's son, Harrow, were treated as such - she certainly thought of him as a brother. At least until recently. SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S) : N/A, open to mutuals. OTHER(S) : Zena, the tiefling captain of the pirate ship that fished her out of the water when she was a girl and her mentor, as well as Zander, Zena's great-great-great(?)-grandson and Doriane's ( former? ) first mate PET(S) : N/A
HAIR : Dark black-brown, usually a little crisp with salt and wavy. There are often sections braided back from her face and laced with beads, and she sometimes dons a hat. EYES : Blue-black, but the sort of shade of the deepest, darkest parts of the sea. They glow when she casts. HEIGHT : 5'10" BUILD : Tall and willowy, but muscled - in spite of being primarily a magic user, she utilizes a rapier and her arm muscles are well defined from that kind of exercise. SCAR(S) : Oh, myriad. Mostly little cuts and scrapes, but also has a thin scar near her eye. It did not take her eye out, though. She's a more adept pirate than that. OTHER : Favors blue when it comes to her clothing, usually outfitted in trousers and a tunic, with a coat thrown on over them. She tends to wear her armor underneath her clothes ( or casts Mage Armor to protect herself ) FACECLAIM : Han Hyo-Joo
Tumblr media
1242 DR : A raft carrying an elven girl is found by the crew of The Lady's Storm, a pirate vessel. Zena, their captain, takes the girl under her wing as a 'cabin boy' alongside her own son. She can't remember a name or a family, so they just call her Girl for awhile. Eventually she chooses the name Doriane after seeing it on an embroidered handkerchief she found on a dead woman on a ship they raided soon after. That's the story, anyway.
1248 DR : A good worker, Doriane's status on the ship is further heightened when she electrocuted a man with her bare hands in a raid. Little Doriane was a storm sorcerer. She was immediately put to work learning how best to guide the ship through stormy, treacherous waters.
1249 - 1291 DR : An adventurous almost-half-a-century goes by with Doriane rising to the rank of First Mate, and when Zena at last moves too slow to avoid an arrow in a raid, she wins out over Zena's own son to become captain.
1292 - 1384 DR : An almost-century of piracy, chock full of stories. She considers this to be her golden age, where she barely saw land and had a ship full of good people ( well, good sailors ) and gold enough to drown in. In this time Zena's son had a son, who became Doriane's cabin boy then first mate as well. The crew comes to call her Captain Seasinger.
1385 DR : The Spellplague begins in Faerûn and for the first time, Doriane finds that her magic is - well, not quite what it was. After multiple incidents where things don't go as they should, there's a mutiny and Doriane is marooned on an island with a few loyal helpers - including her First Mate, Zeke.
1386 - 1401 DR : The worst years of her life, until recently. Not only is she without her magic - or at least, without as much magic as she's used to - but she's without a ship, and on land. She and the remnants of the crew she has make do, for awhile, before flagging down a passing ship and passing themselves off as simple laborers. They make their way back to the Storm Coast whilst Doriane plots to get her ship back. In this time she relearns her magic, and finds it's still there . . . it's just different.
1402 DR : She reclaims her ship, or what's left of it after the old crew's blundering. She decides it's time for a change and instead takes on a new one, the next time they raid.
1403 - 1491 DR : A silver age, if you will. There's a lot more privateering beginning to happen, something she isn't too keen on . . . but willing to do if the coin is right. In this time, Zena's great-great-great grandson becomes her First Mate, and is deeply disappointing in the role . . . but she keeps him there, half out of nostalgia. He's not so
1492 DR : The illustrious, legendary even Captain Seasinger appears not far from Baldur's Gate to rest, reprieve, and fence some more special items that her First Mate had suggested might be better served meeting her in person for. She goes to meet in the middle of the night and is attacked by armed thugs - but in the mist of the fight, they're all kidnapped and Doriane finds herself aboard some hellish ship. When it crashes in the wilderness, she finds herself landlocked for the first time in a century. And wondering why her loyal First Mate didn't come along to the meet.

GIVEN NAME : Anastasia Gustava Hhune NICKNAME(S) : Ana or Ani are the most often used - her family used to call her Anya. TITLE(S) : Lady Anastasia of House Hhune, and among some circles - the Veiled Lady. AGE : 30 BIRTHPLACE : Baldur's Gate, Faerûn RACE : Human GENDER : Cis Woman PRONOUN(S) : She/Her/Hers ORIENTATION : Lesbian RESIDENCE : Baldur's Gate, but as of late she has been forced into a more transient existence than she usually prefers.
CLASS : Paladin SUBCLASS : Oath of Vengeance BACKGROUND : Noble - she is the last known surviving member of the esteemed and . . . perhaps controversial Hhune family of Baldur's Gate. FEAT(S) : TBA ALIGNMENT : Lawful Evil ( can be a Lawful Neutral, based on choices made )
LANGUAGE(S) : Common, as well as a number of other human languages, as well as Elvish and Dwarven EDUCATION : The best that money could buy. She was tutored in her early childhood and adolescence, and after her family's deaths hired new ones - including a swordmaster. RELIGION : In spite of her family's historical ties to Gargauth, Anya remains steadfastly atheist - in the sense that she does not worship any one god. She does pay lip service to worshiping Ilmater in public, and has made numerous donations to temples across the city.
MOTHER : Lady Iliana Hhune ( deceased ) FATHER : Lord Lukas Hhune ( deceased ) SIBLING(S) : Lady Evelyn Hhune ( older half-sister, deceased ) SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S) : None. OPEN TO MUTUALS. OTHER(S) : The Lady Anastasia is known for being insular, but in private she controls a small, tight-knit band of spies known among themselves as the Knights of the Veil. A nod to the former Hhune-controlled Knights of the Shield that slipped from their grasp over the years. PET(S) : A sleek, gray cat by the name of Ser Dominik
HAIR : Long, beautifully maintained russet curls that reach down her back when left unbound. Often she wears it in a half-up, half-down style for day to day, fully up for fighting. EYES : A non-descript hazel, though she often favors green or blue to bring out the shades of emerald within. HEIGHT : 5'3" BUILD : Compact, but deceptively muscular underneath her layers of skirt and sleeve. SCAR(S) : Few that are visible, save for a slash along her right palm - where at 15, she swore her solemn oath of revenge on her family's killers with blood. OTHER : She wears a veil every day, except when sleeping. In armor, it resembles this - while in her day-to-day, it is something more like these. When not in armor, she typically wears gowns of green or blue, bedecked in the kinds of embroidery and adornment one would expect of a woman of her standing. FACECLAIM : Olivia Cooke
Tumblr media
1462 DR : Born less than a year after her older sister, Anastasia was something of a surprise - but not unwanted. Unfortunately, her appearance only drew more speculation on her sister's birth in private.
1463 - 1476 DR : Her childhood passed as many noble young girls did. In between tutors and dance instructors, Anya and her sister often played together. They were inseparable, almost always hand-in-hand. No one could say that their lives weren't made brighter by the girls, though there were . . . concerns, from time to time. Evelyn began to be pulled away to learn about the running of the house and the family, given she was the heir. Anya, on the other hand, was sent to stay the summer with friends who had a son about her age ( with hopes of a match blossoming, of course ).
1477 DR : On her summertime visit to Waterdeep, a letter arrived with fateful news. The entire house had been slaughtered. Mother, father, grandmother, cousins - even the servants, even the dog, even the cat that often lingered by kitchen door. The carnage was so great, so varied, so complete that some bodies could not be identified. A small, girlish body with a mutilated face was thought to be Evelyn's. By the time she made it home to Baldur's Gate, the bodies were prepared for burial and she had been named the inheritor. The funeral was attended by all within the Gate, and afterward, Anastasia disappeared from society altogether. In the privacy of the Hhune estate, she knelt on the stained marble floor and cut her hand, letting her blood mix with the remnants of her family's and vowed, down to her very core, to exact her revenge.
1478 - 1480 DR : Anastasia threw herself into studies and training, using the extensive fortune of the Hhunes to hire out the best swordmasters to be her tutors. She disappeared from society while the Flaming Fists continued their investigation - to no avail.
1481 - 1491 DR : At last, the Lady Anastasia reentered society - much changed from the reasonably happy, if spoiled girl they once knew of. Now, she wore a veil in recognition of her mourning until her family received their justice. She was lauded by peasant and patriar alike for her love of charity, and was a great supporter of the Temple of Ilmater. Meanwhile, she sought to reclaim her birthright - though the Knights of the Shield were overtaken by the Emperor, Anya set out to create her own. What few remained that were loyal to her family swore to her and became the Knights of the Veil. They moved in the shadows, unknown by the bulk of Baldur's Gate as they sought out means of blackmail and revenge for Anya.
1492 DR : Anastasia is one of many scooped up by an illithid nautiloid and finds herself face to face with a woman who appears to be her long-lost sister. But strangely, Evie has no memory of her at all - or any to speak of, really.

TITLE(S) : Archival Assistant in the Great Library of the House of the Moon . . . a layperson may also call her Sister Yvaine AGE : 32 BIRTHPLACE : The isle of Moray, located in among the Moonshae Isles RACE : Human ( Werewolf ) GENDER : Cis Woman PRONOUN(S) : She/Her/Hers ORIENTATION : Lesbian RESIDENCE : Until recently, she resided in the House of the Moon in Waterdeep - her search for the Nightsong has necessitated something a touch more transient.
CLASS : Cleric SUBCLASS : Knowledge DEITY : Selûne BACKGROUND : A mixture of Acolyte, Outlander, and Sage. FEAT(S) : To Be Added. ALIGNMENT : Neutral Good, sometimes dipping into Chaotic
LANGUAGE(S) : Abyssal, Celestial, Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, Gnomish, Halfling, Orc, Sylvan - she has something of a knack with languages, though Common is her first. EDUCATION : Taught to read and write by her family, she would later be further educated RELIGION : Selûnite

HAIR : Short, unremarkable brown hair the color of dry dirt. As the game progresses one might notice it grows just a little longer, curling at the ends. EYES : An odd shade of gray, nearly silver. Her mother used to compare it to the skies of Moray, but some now might think the color more akin to a star in the sky. HEIGHT : 5'5" BUILD : Average - soft in the middle from years of seclusion within the library, she has a bit of muscle in the arms but not nearly as much as she ought. SCAR(S) : Though they're covered up by her robes for the most part, she is absolutely covered in scars. Her years as a wolf are the most likely culprit - though she heals faster than a normal human, it doesn't mean she doesn't scar. The most visible ones are the thin, faded ones where silver chains were. OTHER : Like many of her order, she favors whites and grays in her robes. She wears a simple robe, with a little bit of mail underneath for protection. She also wears an emblem of Selûne around her neck. FACECLAIM : Alicia Vikander

1460 DR : Born to the lycanthropic Malar-worshipping Black Bloods of Moray just before their venerated Feast of the Moon. Her name was so chosen to reflect this : Malyn.
1461 - 1472 DR : Her childhood on the Isle of Moray passed as most children's - with perhaps a bit more blood and death and the chaos of nature. But nevertheless, though many were afraid of the lycanthropes that controlled the island, Malyn found an unlikely friend in another little girl named Bethan. The two would sneak away from their families to play on the stony cliffs, building entire worlds together.
1473 DR : Another sign of her having been blessed by Malar - her thirteenth birthday and her first transformation coincided with the Feast of the Moon. She was allowed to participate in the night's festivities as a treat and, in accordance with her traditions, gave herself fully to the hunt . . . when she was once again herself she stood, covered in blood, over the ravaged and gasping body of Bethan's father, the night's chosen quarry. She was praised by her people for the hunt, but Malyn ran away and tried to explain herself to her friend - only to be chased away with silver and curses by the girl and her mother. She at last fled the Isle on a trading ship bound for Waterdeep, hiding herself in the ship's hold and hoping it would keep her from changing before the moon did again. Unfortunately for all aboard, she was young and uncontrolled - when the change came on her again a few weeks into their voyage, she slaughtered most of the crew and was thrown overboard into the sea. She washed up along some shore, still a wolf - but soaked and scraggly.
1474 - 1475 DR : Whether through her own wish or no, Malyn would live these next years as a wolf alone. Even as an adult she couldn't be certain as to why. But the villages along the coast soon learned to keep their children in of a night, and livestock and corpses both were ravaged during a full moon especially. She remembers very little of these years - just blood, the hunt, and the fear of silver. Many hunters were hired, and just as many ran away in fear or were killed.
1476 DR : Salvation came in the form of a Silverstar of Selûne passing through a nearby village. As others before her had, she hunted the strange, stringy brown wolf with the strange eyes that the locals described. She managed to capture the wolf and waited the next three nights of the full moon, keeping a vigil and praying while it strained weakly against silver chains. For the first time in years, Malyn the girl emerged from the wolf and was transformed - a bit worse for wear. The Silverstar introduced herself as Adara, gave thanks to her goddess, and offered the girl - just sixteen - respite within the House of the Moon. After a journey of a couple weeks, they arrive and Adara stays for a few months helping Malyn recover before the girl announces her intention to enter the priesthood.
1477 - 1479 : Malyn becomes a novice and takes the name of Yvaine, shedding her birth name to fully dedicate herself to her new goddess. The one she credited with saving her life - where had Malar been, but goading her into spreading more death and chaos? She throws herself entirely into her worship of Selûne, spending her days in study and prayer. And once a month, her faith is tested. In the early days, she is chained with silver in the basement of the temple alongside other young lycanthropes - for the safety of the city and themselves. While others soon find it within them to control the beast with the aid of their silver lady, Yvaine . . . struggles.
1480 : Her novitiate ended, Yvaine takes her full vows and becomes a priestess, or cleric.
1481 - 1491 : Yvaine serves chiefly as an archival assistant in the House of the Moon's library. Her talent for learning languages comes in handy, given the wide breadth of Selûnite worship, and she spends much of her time translating texts to Common for the purpose of study. Twice a tenday, she begins teaching a class to other novices on Selûnite history. Adara visits intermittently and often encourages Yvaine to come out of the steps of the temple doors, but the younger cleric worried for her control. Though prayer had helped, she still felt the call of the beast within and worried any undue stress might call it out again.
1492 : With the wizard Larroakan's rumored search reaching the ears of Selûnites, Adara and a few other Silverstars are dispatched to find her. But not weeks after their leaving, Yvaine - in her opinion - is given a vision by the goddess herself of the Nightsong. With permission from the High Priestess ( and no small amount of trepidation ) she heads out on her own, following a trail based on study and Adara's letters on the subject. She comes to the druid grove and eventually joins Halsin and the rest in trying to enter the Temple of Selûne overrun with goblins. When the others flee, Yvaine remains lingering near the blighted village of Moonhaven, deciding what to do, and can be recruited from there.

1458 DR : Born just seven years after the destruction of Neverwinter, she was born to one of the few merchant families that remained. Her father, Thierry, seemed to have only married her mother for her fortune and beauty. Her mother, Eleanora, seemed to have only married with the thought that Thierry had come away unscathed from Neverwinter. Neither particularly liked the other. Their daughter was named Camille Sofia Manneville.
1459 - 1462 DR : The earliest years of her childhood passed uneventfully. Though her father seemed only passively interested in her, her mother grew obsessed with ensuring her daughter married into a wealthy family - all the better if they were noble. As early as two, pains were already taken to ensure little Camille suffered for nothing.
1463 DR : The entire family is surprised by the arrival of Maethyra, a half-elven girl arriving with an envoy and a letter from a Lady Miriel, claiming that he was the father of the girl. After a massive argument and some discussion she was ushered out of the room for, Thierry confessed to a dalliance with an Elven lady in the weeks prior to his marriage and, against his wife's wishes, took the girl in. Camille's only real memory of the day was that she thought her new sister was very pretty.
1464 - 1469 DR : Kept busy with tutors in music and dance and manners, Camille is still headstrong and willful and none too happy being told she isn't allowed to go upstairs. She learns to pick a lock just to get into Maethyra's room. She's rewarded with a story and a song and it soon becomes a nightly routine for the sisters, though Camille has to be careful to sneak back downstairs before morning so her mother doesn't realize. Her life takes on a nice routine, for a time.
1470 DR : There's a minor scene at the Manneville home when Maethyra is caught in the arms of a stable boy. Kissing, in truth, but to hear it told by her mother? Well. In spite of Camille pleading with her parents, her half-sister is thrown out. When she learns that she's been spotted singing at the market, Camille attempts to give her a pair of her own earrings to sell . . . only for her mother to accuse Maethyra of stealing from her and having her thrown in prison. Just twelve years old and inspired by stories of great thieves and adventurers before her, Camille packs up what little she can carry and manages to slip into prison to sneak her sister out. The pair go on the run and decide to become musicians, changing their names to Maevys and Mila Moon.
1471 - 1491 DR : For the next twenty years, their only real family is each other. Still a child, Mila often plays poor, pitiful little girl when the pair need to run some con to make ends meet. They sing outside taverns and sometimes, if they're lucky, inside. When Maevys plays her solos, Mila slips around the audience and tends to steal from the audience. The first years are hard and lean. But . . . eventually, they're singing inside more than outside. Mila grows up. By the 1480s DR they are fairly well-ish known across the Sword Coast. But as they get older, Mila becomes more keenly aware of the unavoidable difference in lifespan between she and her sister and as she reaches her thirties, she begins to look toward what she wants for the rest of her life.
1492 DR : The sisters take up residency in Baldur's Gate after being hired to perform in cafes and taverns across the city owned by the Hlath family. Mila grows very close to the patriarch of the family and sees a chance for the stability she's wanted, the riches - but her sister still believes her a little girl being taken advantage of. When Mila announces their engagement, she and Maevys have a terrible fight and Maevys storms out to clear her head - and disappears. Mila is left alone as the Gate quickly comes to rely on Lord Enver Gortash and his Steel Watch, and rumors of the Absolute float about the city. All of this as she tries to plan her wedding.

NAME : Maethyra Taviel Lareth Althari STAGE NAME : Maevys Moon NICKNAME(S) : Her sister calls her Mae ( pronounced as May ), and many friends and partners are encouraged to do so. She's amenable to any number of terms of endearment, however. TITLE(S) : None, really - though that could change. AGE : 40 BIRTHPLACE : Evereska, in a roped off wing the House Althari estate RACE : Half - High Elf GENDER : Cis Woman PRONOUN(S) : She/Her/Hers ORIENTATION : Pansexual RESIDENCE : Transient, staying longer in some places than others - she had been in Baldur's Gate for a handful of months prior to being abducted by the Nautiloid
CLASS : Bard SUBCLASS : College of Lore INSTRUMENT : Violin, Vocals BACKGROUND : Entertainer - she and her sister make up The Moon Sisters, whose music delights high society and low up and down the Sword Coast. FEAT(S) : Magic Initiate: Wizard, Mobile, Tough ( subject to change on replay ) ALIGNMENT : Chaotic Good
LANGUAGE(S) : Elvish ( first ), Common ( speaking fluency, still struggles just a little with reading ) EDUCATION : Somewhat spotty - she was taught to read and write in Elvish, and learned some musical theory as a child. She had an exposure to magic but did not learn it. Following her removal to Neverwinter, her education became neglected and she had to resort to teaching herself, which is why her magical vocal components are different from others. RELIGION : As a child, she tried to pray to Corellon Larethian - but soon stopped. She would describe herself as "playfully irreverent" when it comes to the gods.
MOTHER : Lady Miriel Lareth Althari of Evereska ( estranged ) FATHER : Thierry Manneville ( estranged ) SIBLING(S) : Camille Manneville / Mila Moon ( half-sister ), Lord Luthais Althari ( half-brother, estranged ) SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S) : OPEN TO MUTUALS. PET(S) : Scratch OTHER : Lord Adlar Althari ( step-father, estranged ), Eleanora Manneville ( step-mother, estranged )
HAIR : Long, dark blue - black hair that reaches her waist. She treats it with oil and keeps it braided half - up, half - down as a nod to practicality and romance. She does cut it up to her chin somewhere, and starts going prematurely gray after the events of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. EYES : Heterochromatic - one eye is of Elven silver, the other of a more regular, human blue. HEIGHT : 5'9" BUILD : Slender, with very little in the way of muscle. She tends to wear heeled boots to add to her height and, in her words, her "mystique." SCAR(S) : None at the start, at least none that are visible. She does end up with a scar on her lip and a few scars from burning that couldn't be healed in time to prevent it. OTHER : In Act 1, Maevys has a habit of disguising herself as a . . . slightly better looking version of herself via magic. She eventually stops expending the energy to do so, giving her less of a polished air. She does still apply makeup - usually some liner around the eyes and some color to her lips. She also adds a beauty mark next to her silver eye every morning. FACECLAIM : Jessica Green

1452 DR : The esteemed House Althari of Evereska suffers a shock when the babe Lady Miriel gives birth to is a half-elf. She refuses to name the father and though displeased, the honorable Lord Adlar allows both mother and child to remain ( though the couple effectively separated at this point ). Miriel is still hopeful her daughter might display the same sorcerous abilities she has. The babe is named Maethyra Taviel Lareth Althari and entrusted to the care of servants for the majority of the time. She has an older half-brother, Luthais.
1453 - 1462 DR : The young Maethyra grows up within the confines of the Althari estate. She is given an education, but not without the knowledge that she is lucky, her place is tenuous, et cetera. She shows an early interest in music and often plays her mother's lyre. She does her best to keep out of her step-father's way. Her brother is sometimes kind, but mostly with the goal of being cruel. In 1460, she is tested for the same sorcerous capabilities as her mother - but none are found. She can't so much as produce a light.
1463 DR : In one of his crueler acts, Luthais convinces Maethyra to steal his father's lute to play a song on it for him - to win his favor, he says. She is caught and worse, when she tries to return it, trips and falls on it - breaking the precious heirloom. Lord Adlar ( who had been waiting for an excuse ) orders Miriel to send the girl to her father. Miriel at last discloses the identity of her father - a human merchant who had stopped briefly in Evereska - and dispatches Maethyra to him with an envoy and a letter. She is eleven. Her father, a merchant named Thierry Manneville, is a bit flustered at his arrival - especially given he now has a wife and "trueborn" daughter : Eleanora and Camille, who was at this time five years of age.
1464 - 1469 DR : Between his traveling for business and love of horse races, Maethyra is left in the "care" of her step-mother. Eleanora does her best to keep her daughter separated from the "half-elf bastard" and when she isn't locking her in the attic, is putting her to work in the kitchens. Mae learns much of her Common from the kitchen staff, having primarily spoken Elvish before. She learns their songs and stories, which keep her company for the hours she is alone. Her sister, especially as she gets older, grows the sort of will a spoiled girl might and soon finds her way into Maethyra's room half out of curiosity, half out of wanting to do something she shouldn't. Maethyra offers to tell her a story, and soon it becomes a nightly ritual for the pair. When she runs out of stories, Camille begins bringing her sister books. During this period, Maethyra finds a folded bit of paper for a basic Dancing Lights cantrip folded into one of these books and teaches it to herself, using musical vocalization in place of a vocal component when she has trouble pronouncing things. She begins to nurture an interest in magic, eventually working out her own system of vocal components.
1470 DR : Tension in the house reaches a height as Maethyra grows older and after an incident wherein she was caught kissing a stable boy, her step-mother insists she be thrown out. Camille pleads for mercy but for once, is denied. Maethyra is forced onto the street at eighteen and her would-be lover is whipped and fired, resenting her for it. She begins singing on the street on market days for money until her step-mother has her arrested for stealing from their house ( allegedly ) and is kept in a cell for months. It's her sister, just twelve years old, who manages to break her out. The pair of adolescents runs away from Neverwinter together to strike out on their own. In an effort to avoid being discovered, they take on the aliases of Maevys and Mila Moon and style themselves as entertainer. Though less of a musician than Maevys, Mila still has a pleasant enough voice to make it as a performer.
1471 - 1491 DR : For the next twenty years, their only real family is each other. Maevys is naturally protective over her half-sister, especially as she's a child. Things are exceedingly difficult for the first few years and she has to make ends meet by any means. The pair sing at taverns or outside them and steal from their audience as often as they bring them to tears. Maevys at last gets her hands on a violin, which she begins practicing diligently with. Mila becomes even more quick-fingered. By 1480 DR they've managed to shed notoriety for a little bit of fame, beloved by common folk for their songs and nobles for being just as nice to look at as listen to. They have some bumps, but ultimately the sisters become known for getting along famously. The Moon Sisters play and sing in taverns and parties up and down the Sword Coast. But as they get older, Mila begins chafing somewhat under her sister's overprotectiveness - and Maevys begins to worry that she might be abandoned by the one family member who accepts her.
1492 DR : Things begin to fray between the sisters when they take up residency in Baldur's Gate at the employ of the patriar family, the Hlaths. They sing at a number of cafe's throughout the city, but Mila takes an interest in their patron that Maevys takes objection to. When Mila announces she will marry the patriar, Maevys believes she's being taken advantage of while Mila believes her sister doesn't think she can take care of herself. There's a heated argument and Maevys storms out . . . only to be grabbed up by a mind flayer ship and disappear.
