Welcome back to the city, Stevie! Or at least this one, I suppose You were missed, and it sounded like it was pretty great for your career. 

You haven’t missed much with me, I don’t think. Now that I’m single, I’ve quite a lot of time on my hands, which I’ve been using for more work. And lots of movies and TV shows and a lot of walking in any and all parks. I’d go to a Halloween party as long as I don’t have to plan it. 

Appreciate it. Mhm, it was definitely good for that. And it was nice spending time with my best guy.

Ah. Hm. Makes sense. What sort of movies have you been checking out? I think the last movie I watched was Shaw and Hobbes. It was fucking hilarious. I’ll keep you posted, I was gonna check to see if anyone had a party planned anyhow. I’m sure someone’s got something going on.

Too much nog, next question. ...You do realize getting any kind of tattoo, candy cane or not, means you need to get stabbed with a tiny needle for hours on end? My half sleeve took six and a half hours, not including breaks. You should stick a temporary, peel-off one.

In case folks missed the memo, I'm back in action from my shop swap in Cali. It was both the best and worst couple months of my life-- got to meet a lot of great artists, networked, got started on the sleeve that I've always wanted, and lived with my best friend. Downsides? My best friend is a damn slob and San Francisco is a bitch to bike around. God, those hills murdered my legs. 

Either way, it's good to be back in NYC. How are other folks doing? Excited for Halloween party season?

Babe, I know you like rom-coms more than life itself, but you gotta let spooky season take it's course. When else are all the edgy teenagers going to express themselves? Plus, the shop gets way more adults/reformed emo kids who come in for tattoos this time of year than Christmas time. No one decides to get a holly wreath tattooed on them.

No shade, but I want to skip over Halloween and head straight to CHRISTMAS. I have never heard of a Halloween rom-com, but come November I’m getting my Christmas rom-coms list ready!

Love Actually?? SERENDIPITY?? While You Were Sleeping?? A Christmas Prince?? Bridget Jones’s Diary?? And then we have Henry Goulding and Emilia Clarke coming for my NECK with Last Christmas coming out soon???

Until someone gives me a Halloween rom-com, Halloween is cancelled thank you!!!

Stacey headed down the street towards Stevie’s apartment. Her head was hung low and her shoulders slumped as she walked along. This was just the default her now. The new normal. Since the breakup she’d hardly had any energy or effort to do anything, her ACup work and her journalism was suffering. Not even the idea of going to see one of her favourite movies with her sister could brighten her mood. But nevertheless, she had to continue on and pretend that nothing was wrong. 

Hearing Stevie greet her, Stacey’s head shot up. “Hey.” She replied, giving her sister a small smile. “That’s cool.” She rubbed at her tired eyes, she’d be struggling to sleep. “Yeah sounds good to me.” The small one sentence replies were unusual for her, Stacey was always so full of life and would often never shut up.

Blinking in surprise at her sister's downtrodden appearance, Stevie frowned. "You doing okay? You look kinda like--" Biting back her initial thought, she switched gears quickly, "you haven't slept in a bit." Better. Immediately calling Stacey out on looking like the living dead probably wasn't the best way to start things off.

"Cool." She said, tilting her head down the street in the direction of the restaurant. "So..." Stevie said, struggling to figure out how to like, subtly bring up the topic of the break up. When she couldn't figure out how to word it, Stevie gave up, instead going with an entirely different topic instead. "Done anything fun over the summer break? Besides like, the Miami trip and stuff?" She asked. Better to ask something nice and neutral, right?

Eh, I feel like that's a big artist thing. Dancer, musician, artist, whatever. We all wind up just throwing ourselves into our work when things hit the fan.

Uh... You doing okay? No offense, but you look like you're doing about as well as my sister. Stacey, I mean. Not Sam. Sam's just having a good time being Sam. 

There comes a moment in every dancer’s career where they spend hours alone in the studio just sweating off all the bad feelings. I really wish I could say I didn’t do this more often than not.

I tried hot yoga once and figured out that I'm not a fan of doing weird stretching/strength poses in what's basically a sauna. So, can't really recommend anywhere. What about doing yoga on a rooftop or something? It's hot as hell outside already.

Does anyone around here have a good recommendation for a hot yoga class? I was a regular at one in Boulder and I’m desperate to find a new one. There’s just something so rejuvenating about exercising and ridding your body of toxins at the same time. And if I’ve learned anything about this city it’s that there are plenty of toxins to go around.

Stevie stuck her hands in the back of her jeans as she waited for her sister in front of her apartment complex. They were going to get food anyway, so it didn't make much sense to make Stacey come up to her place just so that they would come down. She couldn't care less about the weird nerdy movie that she was going to see. No, what she cared about was making sure that her sister was doing okay. She'd never really seen Stacey this down about... anything before and, as the middle sisters, she had an obligation to check in on her.

Glancing up the street, Stevie spotted her sister and waved, "Hey. Figured I'd meet you out here instead. Still down for that Chinese place with the dragons and stuff?" She teased, though her smile was slightly tense.
